Chapter 33
It was very nice of Frigga to set up a room for me and for getting me a change of clothes I hadn’t bled on… though I do think having three of her hand maidens help me bathe and get dressed was a bit too much.
I was a grown woman I could bathe myself but they would not take no for an answer.
When they were finally done I was in a intricate embroidered dress with a cream colored bodice, cap sleeves and a sweetheart neckline and a very light grey silk floor-length skirt. There was a bejeweled metallic thin belt at the waist that I was afraid to ask if the jewels were real.
My hair was combed and put into loose curls with another thin bejeweled headband. Though all the maids couldn’t stop asking why I would ever dare do such a horrible thing such as cutting my hair so short.
Asgardians and their hair…
Eventually they let me go telling me that Thor and Steve were probably waiting for me in the training yard. If only they had told me where the freaking training yard was.
At one point I had walked into a broom closet. Broom closets on Asgard were nicer and bigger than the loft I lived in in my universe.
“Okay this is not working…” I said just when I spotted a woman in armor. “uh excuse me?”
“Yes.” She said.
“I’m a bit lost, do you by chance know how to get to the training yard?” I asked.
“You are going to the training yard?” She said arching an eyebrow before looking me up and down.
“I’m not doing any training I’m just going to meet my friends.” I said.
“Of course. If you would follow me Lady…” She started.
“Hanna, just Hanna.” I said.
“Thor’s Hanna?” She said.
“I’m not really a possession or something to be owned but… yeah.” I said. “You know Thor?”
“I’ve known him for centuries and fought alongside him many times.” She said.
“Oh Shit! You’re Sif!” I said.
“You know of me?” Sif said surprised.
“Uh yeah! You’re awesome! I mean I dressed up as you for Halloween two years in a row and one time to go to a comic book convention.” I said. “The world is seriously lacking in female superhero role models. I considered going as Natasha but it’s a hassle to get out of a catsuit to pee.”
“You are not what I expected,” Sif said amused. “Yet exactly what I thought someone destined to be with Thor would be.”
“Thank you?” I said not sure if that was supposed to be a compliment or an insult.
“Thor speaks very highly of you.” Sif said. “He said your wit and beauty are only outmatched by your ability to handle your cups.”
“My cups?” I asked confused.
“Ale?” She corrected.
“Oh! Yeah we may have over indulged just a tad bit last time he visited.” I said as we walked out of the palace to arrive at the training yard where Steve and Thor were sparring. Thor was using Mjolnir though obviously not at full strength while Steve used an Asgardian shield. It wasn’t his shield but he made do. “We’re not even back five minutes and you’re already looking for a fight?”
“I was just… making sure I didn’t get rusty.” Steve said panting.
“Is that even possible?” I said. “You were frozen for 70 years and that did nothing to slow you down.”
“The last 3 universes took more out of me than the ice.” Steve said.
“Fair enough.” I said.
“Ehem.” Thor said clearing his throat. “My lady Hanna might I say Asgard suits you.”
“Oh this… you have you mom’s handmaidens to thank for it. They are… very thorough.” I said making him chuckle.
“I do apologize mother can come on rather strong.” He said.
“The apple did not fall far from the tree.” I said with a smirk.
“Wow…” Steve whispered as he chuckled.
“Since you are here now, I will show you all that Asgard has to offer.” Thor said offering me his hand.
“Sounds like a plan.” I said taking his hand and let him lead us out of the palace through the back exit to see Asgard. I was given a cloak to cover up before we walked down the streets of the city.
For the most part Asgard was a lot like Earth. There were people going about their day just trying to make an honest living with magic and dramatized performances of the Thor and Loki’s falling out. Kids playing with magical balls that when thrown up in the air they wouldn’t come right back down but instead pulled apart revealing a glowing orb the pieces of a shell spun around before pulling together and falling when it touched anything.
There were merchants on the streets selling jewelry, food, and clothes. After we had seen all of that Thor led us down an alley.
“You are really going to enjoy this next stop.” Thor said.
“Pretty sure there’s a horror movie that started with a phrase like that.” I said.
“They all start like that.” Steve deadpanned. “At least the ones in your universe.”
“I would really like to visit your home world one day.” Thor said.
“No you don’t.” Steve and I said at the same time.
“Here we are.” Thor said opening the door to… a tavern.
“Thor!” Everyone cheered.
“Come here often?” I asked.
“I have been known to enjoy some post battle revelry. Occasionally.” Thor said.
“Only occasionally?” I asked not buying it for a second.
“There have been many battles and just as many revelries to enjoy.” He said with a smile. “Come now, Would you prefer some wine or…”
“Beer me.” I said.
“Is that really a good idea? How do we know if Asgardian Beer is good for you?” Steve said.
“Is there a beer on Earth that’s technically good for us?” I retorted.
“Beer it is!” Thor said going to get us drink slapping Steve’s affectionately though by the tiny grunt he let out I could tell it was a lot stronger than it looked.
“Are you sure you’re up for this?” Steve asked.
“Why? Because I died three times in the last day?” I said. “That’s more of a reason to do this.”
“Just take it slow.” Steve said.
“Stop worrying. We’re finally home. Maybe not on the right planet but tomorrow morning we will be. Come Steve live a little.” I said.
“You’re right. One drink won’t hurt anyone.” Steve said giving in and just in time as Thor was back with three very large mugs of Asgardian ale.
“A toast to being reunited at last.” Thor said.
“To hopefully staying in the right universe from now on.” I said.
“Second that.” Steve said as we clinked our mugs and took a long sip. Steve took a normal sip but Thor and I kept going him just staring at me amused and not letting up until I did. We ended up finishing ours in one go.
“Ah!” I sighed. “That was good.”
“It was. Would you like another?” Thor asked.
“Sure.” I said.
Many Drinks Later…
Well normal alcohol couldn’t get Steve drunk. Asgardian alcohol on the other hand… well after one mug of beer he was KO’ed.
But surprisingly I wasn’t. I was feeling pretty buzzed but not belligerently drunk.
“Are you sure you’re feeling alright?” Thor asked. “While I do not doubt your… resilience Asgardian mead is stronger than Midgardian ale. A lot stronger.”
He said as we turned to Steve who was passed out on the table sleep talking.
“Okay… Now that Captain Buzzkill is out its just the two of us.” I said. “We can finally get down to business.”
“Yes and it is very serious business.” Thor said.
“It’s a very serious sport.” I said. “It’s about precision and endurance.”
“And strategy.” Thor added.
“Can’t forget strategy.” I said arranging the mugs of beer into a triangle as Thor did the same on his side.
“Ready?” Thor started holding up a tiny glowing orb one of the other patrons had conjured for him.
“No Thunder.” I reminded him.
“That’s not an indoor trick.” He said shooting the ball and missing.
I caught the ball and aimed before tossing it and landing at the mug at the dead center of the triangle.
“I rather like this game. What did you say it was called?” Thor asked.
“Beer Pong.” I said while Thor chugged his drink. “So what are we going to do about him?”
“The Captain?” Thor asked.
“We’re supposed to be having dinner with your parents in a bit and he’s… I think he’s down for the count.” I said. “It’s not like we can Weekend at Bernie’s our way through the dinner.”
“Who is Bernie and what does he do on weekends?” Thor asked.
“It’s an old movie. This guy dies but there are kids that puppet him around to spend the weekend at his beach house…” I said. “It funny… I don’t think your dad would think it’s funny if we tried it with Steve.”
“You do not need to worry about my father.” Thor said.
“I know, it’s not like we’ll even be on the same planet after tomorrow.” I said making another shot and landing it on another mug. Thor smiled picking up his mug and drinking it in one go.
“Hanna you are my soulmate. There is no denying it and there is nothing my father or anyone can do about it.” He said.
“I keep forgetting how serious people in this universe are about the ‘s’ word.” I said.
“’S’ word?” Thor asked.
“Soulmates.” I said picking up the mug the orb Thor threw landed in.
“It is just a dinner. My father will probably not join us. Mother would like to get to know you.” he said.
“There’s not really a lot to know.” I answered landing the ball in another mug. “Other than the fact that I apparently have better aim than her son.”
“Not surprising considering who one of your soulmates is. Eye of hawk would be proud.” Thor said.
“You weren’t there when he carried me out of my favorite bar.” I said.
By the time the game was over we were still on our feet but Steve was still out so Thor had to throw him over his shoulder and carry him out.
“Are you sure about this?” I asked.
“It is the fastest way to the palace.” He said.
“But are you sure you can fly and carry both of us? I’ve done enough falling for one day.” I said.
“You will not fall. I swear.” He said offering me his hand.
“Okay…” I said hesitantly taking his hand. I stepped closer only for him to pull me close.
“Hold on tight.” Thor said before swinging Mjolnir and we were off.
“Ah!!!” I screamed at the rush of air and how fast we were thrown across the air.
In mere minutes we were back the palace have flown straight into Steve’s room. Thor put him down in bed where he was passed out completely oblivious to everything around him.
“He’s not going anywhere.” I said.
“He shall be fine. I shall send someone with an elixir for the… hangover.” Thor said. “Will you be needing one as well?”
“Nah…. Some water and I’ll be fine.” I said.
“Then perhaps we should go get ready for dinner.” Thor said.
“I think I’m as ready as I will ever be.” I said.
“Don’t you think you should change into something more appropriate for dinner?” Thor asked.
“So is changing multiple times in one day for royalty a thing here as well?” I asked.
“Unfortunately yes.” Thor said with an amused smile.
“I guess I’ll go change then… Just uh… What way am I going?” I asked.
“Allow me to escort you.” Thor said kindly leading me out of Steve’s room.
Frigga’s handmaids were already waiting for me at the door to my room and they were not happy about my fun day out on the town.
After a lot more primping and prodding and having the laces of my dress tied on a bit tighter than really needed I was good to go.
They had put me in a silvery grey sage silk dress with short flutter sleeves and a elaborately embroidered and beaded bodice. They had also put my hair in a half up and down hairstyle with braids and matching heavy combs to keep my hair out of my face.
“Dress truly fit for a queen.” One of the handmaidens said.
“I’m not royalty but Queen Frigga does have really good taste.” I said.
“Of course she does, this is her dress.” Another retorted.
“It is?” I asked.
“It was an old dress from when she was a young maiden and the All-father was courting her.” the third one said. “The combs are her as well.”
“Oh…” I said not knowing what to think of that. “I’ll be sure to thank her.”
Once they deemed me presentable I was escorted to the dining room where one of the guards announced my arrival before I was even let into the room.
“Lady Hanna Marin of Midgard.” The guard announced.
“Thanks.” I said before walking in. Thor immediately got out of his seat to escort me to the one next to his. “Your… highnesses?
“You look lovely Lady Hanna.” Frigga said.
“I have you and your amazing handmaidens to thank for that.” I said.
“Let us eat.” Odin said gruffly, not looking at all happy about being forced to be a part of this dinner. “Since your acquaintance is not joining us.”
“He’s feeling a bit under the weather.” I said in Steve’s defence.
“Lost in his cups as I understand it.” Odin said.
“Just one cup to be exact.” Thor said chuckling awkwardly.
“Asgardian ale is a lot stronger than what we have on Earth.” I said.
“You seem to have taken it well.” Frigga said.
“She is small but mightly.” Thor said before his mother and I gave him a look. “I mean… Oh look pie.”
“Nice save.” I whispered only low enough for him to hear.
“How do you like Asgard, Lady Hanna?” Frigga asked.
“Asgard is beautiful. Your artwork and not just that but your people. You all live up to the legends and myths they tell back home.” I said.
“And which home is it that you speak of? The one in this world or another?” Odin asked.
“Both.” I said. “In this world magic is real and science is at a stage that people in my world are still dreaming about.”
“And what is it you wish to do with the knowledge you acquire in this world.” Odin asked.
“Nothing. There are some things man was not meant to meddle in. I’ll be the first to admit when I’m out of my depth.” I said. “which is definitely most of the time.”
“You do seem to find yourself in trouble most often.” Frigga said amused.
“The trouble is a recent thing.” I said. “Though hopefully my luck is starting to turn around.”
The rest of dinner was pretty uneventful. It was mostly Frigga asking me questions to get to know me better. Odin excused himself as soon as he was done leaving the three of us to just chat and hear about all of Thor’s childhood antics.
Eventually she excused herself and left us by ourselves.
“So what have missed since our last meeting?” Thor said finally asking the question I had been avoiding since I woke up on Asgard.
“Uh well… Where do I start?” I asked.
“I’ve been told the beginning is always a good place to start.” Thor said amused.
“Well after we celebrated your birthday…” I started before I gave him. Rundown of everything that had happened to me since the last time. Everything that happened in both our worlds and the worlds we had seen before making it back to this one.
“Is that everything?” Thor said after not saying a word the entire time I was catching him up.
“Uh just about.” I said.
“Stark…” Thor growled.
“Don’t do that.” I said.
“He refused to listen to you and you got hurt. I thought I had lost you. You have no idea what it felt like to suddenly not be able to see color again.” Thor said.
“It wasn’t his fault… well the house getting blown up was partially his fault for giving out his home address one live TV but he didn’t actually blow up the house. That guy is dead.” I said. “At least I think he is…”
“Hanna…” He started before he hugged me. “The thought of you dying is not a pleasant one.”
“It doesn’t feel great either.” I said leaning against him. “But I don’t exactly plan on dying again anytime soon.”
“Good, I fear the other world you fall into may not always be as peaceful.” Thor said.
“Weren’t you just fighting an ogre rebellion on Vanaheim?” I retorted.
“That is a small minor uprising.” He said.
“If you say so.” I said not buying it for a second letting go of him before we headed off to the gardens. One moonlight stroll later we were back at the door to my room for the night. “This is it.”
“So it is.” He said.
“Today was fun. It was good to finally see Asgard the way you do.” I said.
“the way I do?” Thor asked.
“Well you could have show me the palace and the gardens but instead you took me outside of the palace to your favorite places in the city. That says a lot about you.” I said.
“I thought you would appreciate a piece of home while being away from home and you brought a piece of Midgard here with your beer pong.” Thor said.
“Maybe next time I visit we can have a rematch.” I said.
“I’d appreciate a chance to regain my honor.” He said.
“Your honor remains untarnished… your pride on the other hand may have taken a few hits.” I said as Thor looked down at our joined hands smiling.
“I consider it an honor and a privileged to be, how does that Midgardian saying go? ‘Taken down a peg?’” he said.
“You are a quick learner.” I said.
“I had a good teacher.” He said lifting my hand up and gently kissing the back of my hand. “My Lady I bid thee a good night.”
“Good night.” I said about to let go but instead I hugged him taking Thor by surprise. “Sorry I just needed one more.”
Thor chuckled but returned the hug holding me for a minute before kissing the top of my head and letting me go.
“I shall see you tomorrow morning.” He said.
“Good night.” I said before going into my room. I smiled feeling oddly happy for once. I carefully started pulling the combs and pins out of my hair before getting ready for bed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day and I was finally going home… I carefully brushed my hair smiling at the thought of seeing everyone again.
But there was something… a nagging feeling at the back of my head almost as if someone was watching me. I guess that was the problem with the open balcony for my room. Though I couldn’t feel the wind unless I walked past the columns.
I shook my head, shaking off the paranoia. Tomorrow was another day. A big day.
Once I was in the flowy night gown I got into bed and closed my eyes ready to get some rest.
The Following Morning…
I was up and ready before the handmaidens even knocked on my room door. They came in and immediately got to work before they put me in a light sage green dress with a beaded and sheer paneled dress.
“Oh I don’t think I’ll need that.” I said. “It’s a bit too much for Earth.”
“But you shall be breaking your fast with the queen.” One of the hand maidens said.
“Yes but it’s a bit of a waste to wear this amazing dress only to take it off and put on jeans.” I said.
“Forgive us lady Hanna but we seem to have misplaced your… clothing.” The other handmaiden said.
“That’s oddly convenient.” I said making them smile and giggle. “You know what, I’ll wear it. When else am I ever going to get a chance to wear a dress like that again?”
“As you wish milady.” The servant said helping me put it on.
When they were done or more like when I had an opening and snuck out I headed to the dining room to meet everyone for breakfast. Steve was already there leaning on the table not looking so great.
“Good Morning Sunshine!” I greeted loudly making him groan.
“Hanna…” He whined.
“What? You can’t handle a tiny hangover?” I teased.
“I’ve never felt this horrible before.” Steve whined. “How are you so… awake?”
“Years of drowning my sorrows in my cups and drinking plenty of water.” I said. “Besides today’s the day. We’re going home!”
“We are.” He said smiling as he say up quickly only to groan in pain once he was up.
“Good Morning my dearest lady Hanna!” Thor cheered and he marched in making Steve lay his head on the table again to try and ease his pain. “And good morning to you Captain. I was thinking we should visit the tavern one last time before you got..."
“NO!” Steve whined making Thor chuckle.
“Perhaps this shall ease your pain.” He said putting a vial down in front of Steve.
“What is it?” Steve asked.
“And elixir to easy your troubles.” Thor said. Steve turned to me asking for a translation.
“It’s a hangover cure.” I said.
Steve immediately took the vial and drink it in one go. Withing a few seconds he was immediately better.
“I’m never drinking again.” He said.
“That’s what everyone says.” I said taking a seat.
“I must admit I do wish you could have stayed in Asgard longer.” Thor said. “But I understand why you wish to return home.”
“I have a feeling you’ll be back on Earth sooner than you think.” I said. “Just uh… A tiny favor?”
“For you anything.” He said with a smile.
“When the convergence happens in about a year and the Aether is on Asgard, don’t leave your mom with Jane.” I said.
“Hanna?” Thor asked confused.
“Just trust me. It won’t make sense right now but it will later on. Also your brother, things aren’t always what they seem with him.” I said.
“He is a trickster.” He said trying to make light of it.
“He’s a trickster that doesn’t always look like himself.” I said.
“You mustn’t worry so much.” Thor said.
“Easier said than done.” I said lifting a glass to take a sip only to drink wine. “Wine for breakfast, I love Asgard.”
“And it loves you dearly.” Thor said with a dopey eyed look before Steve cleared his throat loudly to get Thor’s attention. That snapped him right out of his daze. “Asgard that is.”
“Of course.” I said smiling.
We were just finishing breakfast and about to head to the bifrost to head back to earth when a fire broke out in one of the towers.
“Fire!” The guards shouted.
“Hanna…” Steve started.
“Go. I’ll be here.” I said before they both went off.
“This way my Lady…” One of the handmaidens said taking my hand to lead me away to safety. I went with her but as we kept walking farther and farther away from the crowd there was something about her that seemed… off. She shimmered in the sunlight in an unnatural sort of way. “Hurry.” She urged pulled me with her put I pulled away from her.
“You’re not one of Frigga’s handmaidens.” I said. “You’re not a handmaiden at all.”
“I don’t understand milady…” She started and I eyed her up and down.
“And there’s the shimmer… I’ve only seen that when the street performers were using magic.” I said. “Who are you?”
She frowned before smiling.
“It seems I have underestimated you mortal.” She smirked lifting the enchantment to show herself. She had long wavy red hair and wore a green dress and a golden necklace. “There may be more to you that what meets the eye. It would explain why Thor seemed to be so captivated by you. Though not for much longer.”
“You must be the insane ex-girlfriend.” I said.
“I am not mad.” She said angrily.
“Well you did start a fire to get attention. Sounds pretty insane to me.” I said before she conjured up a dagger. “Definitely crazy.”
I backed away only for two guards to appear obviously under her control and they grabbed me bringing me closer to her.
“You really don’t want to do this.” I said hoping someone would barge in and stop her before she killed me. I didn’t want to die again. Especially not stabbed. That was going to be slow and painful.
“Do not worry Thor will not miss you. I’ll make sure he forgets all about you.” Lorelai said grabbing my hair and yanking my head back.
“That’s not what I meant.” I said hearing the sound of something or someone crashing through the palace doors.
“Lorelai!” Thor growled.
“Do not worry my love, I will be with you shortly.” She smiled before plunging the dagger in my chest.
“Ah…” I gasped as the pain erupted and knocked the breath right out of me.
“No!” Thor shouted as thunder crashed down through the ceiling and lighting burst around Thor blasting the guards as were pushed away and Lorelai fled with Thor flying after her.
“Hanna!” Steve ran in rushing to my side as I fell onto the ground.
The pain in my chest was sharp and I could feel my lungs struggling to expand to let air in. The tightness spread to my throat as I started coughing up blood.
I would choose jumping off a building over this any day.
“Hey it’s okay. There’s magic here they can help you.” Steve said pressing down as he tried to slow the bleeding.
“No…” I gasped. “No… It’s too… late…”
“No its not. You are not dying. Not again. We’re going to go home and…” He started.
“Steve!’ I grasped his hand squeezing as hard as I can. “Let go.”
“Hanna…” He started. “If it doesn’t work we can come back and…”
“No…” I said. “You…. they need you… You need…ah… to be here… I’ll come back… but you…. They need Cap…. Bucky needs you…”
“You know what’s going to happen…” he said and I nodded groaning in pain.
“Re…me..member what I told you… Take care of…. Them…” I said as dark spots clouded my vision and I couldn’t breath anymore.
“Hanna…. Hanna!” Steve shouted.
With that I was gone. I was falling down that dark pit again.
Third Person’s POV-
Steve felt Hanna’s hand go limp in his hand as the light in her eyes faded and as it did so did red color of the drapes and the red painting on the ceiling of Thor faded to grey and black.
Thor stormed in rushing to Hanna’s side.
“Thor no!” Steve said tackling him away.
“She needs a healer!” Thor growled.
“It’s too late.” Steve said as Thor looked to Hanna and the light green color of her dress was no longer green.
“NO!” Thor growled pushing Steve away but he held onto him holding him back as Hanna started glowing and disappeared into thin air. “What have you done?!”
“Thor…” Steve said.
“She is…” Thor started before thunder rained down on Asgard.
“She is gone but she’s going to come back.” He said. “Hanna will come back.”
“Where is she now?” Thor said heartbroken.
“I don’t know.” Steve said fearing the worst.
“Lorelai must pay for what she has done.” Thor growled before storming out.
“Thor…” Steve said going after his friend to stop him from doing anything he might regret.
While Steve did not have any luck stopping Thor, Odin on the other hand did. He forbade his sone from following after Lorelai to Earth but did allow him to choose someone else to go in his place.
Sif volunteered due to her personal history with Lorelai and thus returned to Earth to hunt her down.
Thor was needed elsewhere but he was allowed to see him off.
“I should have sent you both home sooner… then perhaps Hanna would still be…” Thor said clenching his fists.
“She’ll be back Thor. Hanna’s stronger than you think. She found her way back once, she’ll do it again.” Steve said. “In the meantime we have a job to do.”
“Aye.” Thor said. “Until the next time Captain.”
“Until next time.” Steve said before Heimdall opened the Bifrost and sent Steve home.
Well more like Earth and the roof of the Triskelion.
It is not everyday a wormhole opens up over the sky of the headquarters of the largest intelligence agency in the world. When the alarms went off Natasha, Hill and fury as well as half of STRIKE ran up to the roof fully preparing for the worst only to be met with the last person they ever expected to see again.
“Steve?” Natasha said.
“Natasha.” He said smiling.
“Captain.” Fury said. “We thought you were dead.”
“It’s been… A lot’s happened.” He said. “Since Christmas.”
“I’m sure it has.” He said. “You can tell us all about it while we debrief you.”
“Can I have some coffee… I think I’m still hungover.” Steve said.
“I like the new haircut.” Natasha said.
“Hanna thought you might.” Steve said and Natasha froze not sure if she heard him right.
“If you’ll follow us.” Maria Hill said.
Once Steve gave his official debrief to Shield he gave the full debrief to Natasha who decided it was time to get the team back together.
“Couldn’t we have just called Barton?” Steve said following Natasha down the hall of an apartment building.
“He wouldn’t have answered. You might have to break down the door.” Natasha said knocking on the door only to get no answer. Natasha knocked again louder.
“Go Away Nat!” Clint called out from the other side of the door.
“Open the damn door Barton!” Natasha called out.
“Just leave.” He called out again.
“You’re going to regret being an idiot in a minute.” Natasha said telling Steve to kick down the door.
“Are you sure we should?” Steve asked.
“Fine.” Natasha said pulling out a small explosive and throwing it the door and blowing it open.
“What the hell Nat?!” Clint shouted only to come face to face with Steve.
“Barton?” Steve said barely recognizing Clint.
“Cap?” he said surprised.
“Surprise.” Natasha said dryly. “Are you ready to stop being an idiot now?”
Hours Later…
After picking up Bruce at his beach front getaway in Mexico courtesy of Tony they all few to New York to see the billionaire who after getting his life literally blown up, losing Hanna and getting the shrapnel taken out of his chest had returned to some of his old habits.
That is how they found him, at a party he was having at his penthouse in New York surrounded by drunk idiots. The biggest one ogling a leggy blonde bimbo.
“Tony.” Bruce said.
“Well well look who it is. The Jolly green giant.” Tony said. “And you brought Natashalie.”
“Stark.” Natasha said crossing her arms. “We need to talk.”
“What’s there to talk about? You made it very clear when you flew off with Barton, you know after he punched me in the face that you never wanted to see me again.” Tony said.
“Things change.” Natasha said.
“You’re right they do. You’re no longer welcome here.” Tony said. “Get out.”
“Tony.” Steve said making Tony drop his glass.
“You’re dead.” Tony said.
“I’m not and neither is Hanna.” Steve said.
“Jarvis get everyone out of here.” Tony said.
Once the room was cleared and it was just the five of them Steve told them everything that had happened.
“We were on Asgard when Lorelai…She was involved with Thor got to Hanna and she killed her.” Steve said.
“So she’s gone? Again?” Tony said.
“Yes.” Steve said.
“And you just let her go. Alone?” Tony said.
“She didn’t want me to go with her.” Steve said. “We talked about it before when we were still in her world. If I made it back without her she didn’t want me to go after her.”
“And you listened to her?” Tony said.
“Tony.” Natasha said. “Listen to him.”
“Hanna warned me before we came back that something was coming. Something bigger than Loki and the Chitauri. She said that we needed to stay together because if we didn’t then it would all be over before the real fight even started.” Steve said.
“Did she say what was coming?” Clint said.
“No but its big.” Steve said.
“And Hanna?” Bruce asked. “Is she… Is she coming back?”
“She’ll be back.” Steve said. “She didn’t give up even when she had every reason to and I would have understood if she had wanted to. Hanna wanted to come home and she will.”
“Sorry if I have a really hard time believing that Cap.” Tony said before storming off.
A While Later…
Tony was in his lab drinking while blasting music when Steve walked in.
“Don’t shut off my music.” Tony said.
“There’s something else. Something I didn’t think I should say infront of everyone else.” Steve said. “Hanna made me promise that if I made it back without her I’d tell you.”
“Out with it then.” He said.
Steve took a breath trying to keep his frustration in check.
“Hanna asked me to tell you that she thinks about that night you two ate the best burgers ever with the best view of the city, a lot.” Steve said making Tony put his drink down. “She said you’d know what that meant.”
“Is that it?” Tony said.
“She really missed you.” Steve said before leaving Tony alone.
Tony picked up his glass but suddenly wasn’t in the mood to drink anymore.
Meanwhile in Another Universe…
It was a cold desolate world. The ruins of an old one where most of humanity was extinct. Two the only survivors were scouring the city when they found me.
“No pulse.” The woman said.
“She’s still warm.” The other one said. “A drone wouldn’t have done this.”
