Seeing is Believing

I stood on another roof, in another city and apparently in a movie or… movie universe. I was staring at the wreckage of New York post Chitauri invasion. A few rooftops away I could see a leviathan carcass a construction crew was trying to clean up.

“Believe us now?” Fury asked.

“What’s today’s date?” I asked.

“May 5th, 2012.” Hill answered.

“Is something wrong?” Fury asked.

“Everything.” I said. “But besides the fact that I’m apparently in a movie, on the wrong side of the country and suddenly not colorblind, I’m apparently 10 years in the past.”

“Excuse me?” Fury said.

“The day I fell off that building in Los Angeles. It was May 18th, 2022.” I said.

“Are you lying to us?” Fury said.

“A cat that wasn’t a cat named Goose is the reason you’re wearing an eyepatch.” I said. “I saw that in a movie that took place in 1995.”

“You’re not lying.” He said.

“I’m not lying.” I confirmed before I looked up at the sky. I finally understood all the songs about the sky and the color. It was a nice color.

“This complicates things.” Fury said.

“So that’s blue.” I said.

“You’ve never seen blue before.” Hill said understanding.

“I’ve never seen any color before.” I said. “Which is weird right?”

“Did the movies you talked about ever mention soulmates?” She asked.

“No. They weren’t that type of movies.” I said.

“Let’s head back inside.  There’s a lot to discuss.” Fury said.

“That’s great but any chance I can get some pants or anything else to wear besides this hospital gown?” I asked.

“I’ll find you something.” Hill reassured me.
