Chapter 43

“Wake up for me Sweetie” Addam’s voice sung sweetly, somewhere in the distance corners of Kit’s mind. All she could see was darkness, but the voice of her girlfriend calling out to her was calming to her mind.

“Is she going to be alright?” Persephone asked her worriedly.

“Just use more smelling salts”

“OH Bloody hell” Hanna’s voice choked, then began a coughing fit. “Why do you have this?”

“It’s not THAT bad, now pass it here!”

The strong aroma of salts and the voices of her friends stirred Kit awake. She groaned, scrunching her face, then slowly opened her eyes and blinked till her vision cleared. To see the many faces hovering above her and the arms of her girlfriend wrapped protectively around her.

“hey” Kit croaked. “how’s it going”

“We’re fine, but how are you feeling sweetie?” Addams asked.

Kit frowned confused for a moment, then the memory came rushing back to her and she sighed, looking away. Pushing down the memory of that man. She nodded, then turned back up to her girlfriend. “fine”

Hanna scooted closer and grasped Kit’s hand. “what happened?”

Kit turned to her cousin and sighed, shaking her head. “Nothing I just…well let’s say I had a bit of a flash back moment and consequently blacked out. I’m fine now, so let’s just get out of here”

No one was convinced by this statement.

Hanna frowned at her cousin and beckoned “you can tell us anything, we will not hide away or shun you, no matter what you say”

“I know it’s just-“ Kit cut herself off suddenly. She stood up, walked away few steps and stopped. Hands clasping her waist, her back facing her group. She was trying not to break down crying in the middle of the street. The words that came next were heavy in her throat. Weighing down the punk down. “Some people like to boast about their past” she began. “very least talk about it. Well not me…I prefer to look to the future”

Addams quickly stood up and followed after Kit, taking a stand behind her girlfriend while the others took a stand either side of Kit. Addams reached out and wrapped her hands around Kit’s waist.

“I don’t want to live a simple life” Kit admitted. “when its time for me to go, I want to ride down to Hell on my bike, skidding and sliding. I want the very first words I hear from all the gods cry, oh my god that’s the way to do it.” Kit continued and the others laughed. Even Kit laughed for a moment, she sighed and dropped her head back against Addam’s chest. She turned to the smoke and the fire and explained “this building was the first place I slept in when I arrived here in Madrid. I want…I want to tell you everything about my past, but I’m not ready…not yet”

“take your time” Addams whispered. “we’ll be by your side every step of the way”

“I’m sorry”

“no sweetie don’t be sorry” Addams leaned down and kissed her girlfriend’s cheek. She leaned against her ear and whispered “I’m not going anywhere, I love you”

“I love you too”. Kit turned her lover’s grasp and kissed her. Kit pulled back and stated “Let’s get out of here! I’m suddenly not feeling right tonight”

Without another word, Persephone and Hanna each took a hold of Kit. Allowing the punk to lead them away from the burning building. Back to the refuge of Casa de lobos.

It’s unheard for High School to have a fencing team, but here this one was well known for the area. The training area was technically the school’s basketball court, but they made do. Twelve white clad fencers danced around the room battling each other for Practice. The Crew watched as Hana fought. Cheering their friend on every time she won the fight. Their cries causing the gym teacher to wince at their volume.

Hanna turned to her latest defeated opponent. Shock their hand. Then removed the helmet and looked around the room declaring “Alright whose next?”

The teacher hummed, then turned to the rest of the Crew with eyebrow raised. “Perhaps one of you might stretch your legs” he suggested.

“Ah, but then you will lose her cheer squad” Kit countered, grinning smugly.

“We’ll manage”

“I’ll Volunteer” Cira’s voice perked up. The Crew turned to Hanna’s left to find the masked Cira wondering towards them. With sword drawn and held low. “If you are up to the challenge”

Hanna lit up at the sight of the woman. Even the angel within vibrated restlessly under her skin, then settled to perfect stillness. She was surprised the girl was here, attending their school, but happy to see the girl was fine. Relieved, “Definitely” Hanna answered. She took on her helmet, swung her sword twice in front of her chest in a Z motion, then pointed the sword to Cira. Cira swagged over, twisted her sword in place, then raised it pointed for Hanna. “On three, two, one!” Hanna counted and then they attacked.

Their swords clashed for two seconds before Cira suddenly dived forward and thrust her sabre into Hanna’s chest. The Crew gasped at Hanna’s defeat.

The teacher smiled “Cira Sandra one, Hanna zero, play on”

“Woah” Hanna gasped, impressed.

“Regretting the challenge now?” Cira laughed.

“Definitely not”

Cira striked first. Her sword almost blurred as she drove Hanna back across the mat. Hanna managed to just block Cira’s strikes, allowing the woman to move her back. Before Hanna suddenly ducked and launched forward, forced her sword into Cira’s stomach.

“One all” Gym teacher called.

Cira paused, she looked down at the sword, watching it leave her stomach. Then straighten her back, tilting her gaze down to Hanna. She wasn’t pleased she missed the attack, but her disappointed only lasted for a moment. “That was lucky” she scoffed. “Care for another?”

“Of course, just let me know when you want to give up”

Cira laughed. “Unlikely” she said and the two started to spar again.

The Crew watched fascinated, barely keeping up with the movements. They knew their friend had to hold herself back during School Fencing. Even reminded her several times. However, this was not one of those fights, not with the speed and skill of the mystery girl. The sword dance between Cira and Hanna was hypnotising, the way they move made it impossible for any of them to turn away. Even the other fencers soon gave up the ghost and focused on the two.

“Who the hell is this girl?” Persephone stated worried.

“No idea” Kit answered amused. “I never seen anyone keep up with Hanna before”

“That’s not quite true, the sister warriors” Addams pointed out.

Kit turned to her girlfriend and nodded “Yeah true” she agreed.

Cira won twice more before she pulled back and flicked off the safety tip while declaring “Let’s make this interesting!”. Cira removed her helmet and tossed it to the Crew. Kit caught the helmet before it could hit Addams, flipped Cira off and dropped the helmet on the bench. Cira adjusted her red glasses. “First blood wins”

Hanna removed her helmet, then placed it gently by her side. She flicked off the safety cap and declared “You got it”

They raised their swords and then duel began. Hanna never had an opponent like Cira before. Always having to hold back, but not with her. This duel for first blood, the two girls gave it their all. Switching defence to offense every few strikes, trying to take the other off guard. Hanna dove forward and dragged the sabre down till her hilt locked with Cira’s. “Where did you learn to fight like this?” Hanna questioned.

Cira huffed “This isn’t the time to compliment each other!”. Cira broke the lock, shoving Hanna backwards. She swung her sword twice more, then rolled forward under Hanna’s swing. She drove her sword forward, trying to catch Hanna off guard, but the woman blocked the sword. Twirled around Cira then stood behind her with sword pressed against Cira’s back. Cira smiled, she looked behind her as she stood slowly to her feet. “Where did you learn to do that?”

“I come from a family of warriors”

Cira hummed “Interesting”.

Hanna drove her sword forward, Cira pulled back and twirled to face Hanna. She blocked Hanna’s sword then advanced forward. Their swords clashed as they danced around the mat in circle. Cira sidestepped from Hanna’s attack, then dove forward swinging her blade for Hanna’s face while Hanna’s sword ripped backwards. Both blades collided with skin. Hanna’s blade sliced a thin cut along Cira’s cheek before it caught Cira’s sword and held it back. Only after Cira slashed a line down across Hanna’s jaw to nose.

“Draw!” the teacher declared.

Cira scoffed, but soon felt something wet on her face. She raised her two fingers to her face and dragged them along the cut. She peeled her hand back, looked down at the blood confused, then back up to Hanna. To the brunette’s excited, little exhausted, smile.

Hanna withdrew her sword, thrust the blade in her belt loop and then held out her hand. “Great match!”

Cira frowned confused as she shook Hanna’s hand. “why are you happy? you lost”

“Because it was fun”

“It was a Duel”

“Doesn’t mean it can’t be fun” Hanna stated. “Besides those moves you got were awesome, could we become sparring partners?”

Cira laughed “maybe” she answered. “you were a descent challenge and I don’t get that often”

“Thank you”

Cira hummed, she pulled back her hand and introduced “My name’s Cira Sandra by the way”

“Hi, I’m Hanna”

“I know” Cira quipped. “I know who you are” she spoke with a confident smirk.

“Oh?” Hanna answered surprised.

Cira dropped her sword down and moved closer till they were within each other’s personal space. “How could I not” she laughed. “Everyone talks about you, the rebel. Outcast with heart of gold. You’re the most popular girl in school, everyone either loves you…” she trailed off, her devilish smile widen as she continued “or fears you”

Hanna frowned at this claim. She did not care for school reputation, but she certainly didn’t want to be known as someone to be feared. Not by the people she doesn’t know. “I’m not a threat” she whispered.

Cira’s smirk dripped with curiosity. “oh?” she whispered, a little disappointed in her tone. She leaned over and whispered darkly “well where’s the fun in that”. Cira lingered for a moment, then pulled back and started walking away.

Hanna watched her leave before she turned back to her Crew.

Persephone stood up and marched to her side. She cupped the wounded side of Hanna’s wounded face and encouraged “come, let’s get you cleaned up”

Hanna nodded, allowing Persephone to take her hand and lead her out of the room.

“Well that’s not going to scare” Kit pointed out.

“That’s a shame” Hanna laughed.

“So the new girl is a fencer, she can fight” Addams comment. “And she’s a horror movie fan by the looks of last night”

“Oh was she there?” Kit asked surprised. “I wondered why she looked familiar”

“And she was here two months ago”

“Yeah, but we haven’t really seen her around since then”

“Let’s just get my girlfriend to the Nurse office alright!” Persephone insisted, raising her tone.

The couple and Persephone’s girlfriend focused on her.

“Wow someone’s not impressed by the new girl” Kit teased.

“I’m just not impressed by her that’s all”

Hanna took a firm grip of her girlfriend’s hand and asked in a low whisper “are you okay?”

Persephone looked up at her and nodded “yeah fine”. Then turned back ahead.

Hanna wasn’t convinced, but didn’t question her girlfriend any further. She just followed her out the court door, listening to her friends talk behind her.

During lunchtime

Cira walked the grounds towards the school’s library with purpose in her stride and coffee barely held in her fingers. She loved the way people stopped and stared as she walked by. The fear and the worship.

She was nearing her destination when the sounds of laughter and begging caught her ears. Cira Sandra stopped and turned her heels to the sort. With a curious side smile, she raised her coffee to her lips and took a sip. New destination at hand, she ventured towards the source.

Hidden past the library, between buildings. Four older teenager boys gathered around one crying teenage boy few years younger then them. Welding bottled beer in hand and another two smashed on the ground. Above their heads a rope tugged, nailed in the brick building. Their snide chuckles filled the small space. Drowning out the kid’s tears. Cira took another sip of her coffee before she approached. “Afternoon” she called and they jumped. Turning to her shifty eyed, Cira could laugh at these bullies. “what’s going on here?”

Blonde teenage boy, Jock, walked forward, his friends followed suite. He towered over Cira Sandra, which wasn’t that hard to accomplish. He wiped his nose with the back of his finger, then turned to her and smirked “We’re just having a bit of fun, just a little game, wanna join in?”

“Depending on the game” Cira answered.

“Quite simple one” he answered. He pulled out a switchblade and pointed the blade to the teenage nerd. To the sniveling mess in human form begging for freedom. Hands tied over his head by rope. His face, black and blue, wet from tears and cuts from his captors’ knuckles. “We’re in need of dart practice and this brat has volunteered” the bully explained. “Just throw the knife till it sticks”

“please..” the kid cried. “don’t do this”

“OH Shut UP!” The Jock groaning mockingly.

“Please Jock!”

“SHUT IT!” he suddenly screamed.

His friends immediately turned to their comrade and insisted various “Calm down man!” “Don’t listen to him” “Don’t draw attention to us idiot!”

Cira Sandra raised her eyebrow at them, then turned to the boy. Studying his features up and down. There was nothing remarkable or undesirable about the boy. He was nothing special, just like everyone else. Cira tilted her head to the side as she sipped on her coffee. Wondering what this boy could do to deserve punishment. “What’s his name?” she asked. One of the many questions going through her mind, but a name will be perfectly good start.

“What?” Jock laughed, turning to her. As if he didn’t believe the question asked or very least, didn’t hear her correctly.

Cira turned to him and repeated, deadpanned “What is his name?”

Jock scoffed, shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders “why the fuck should I care”

“Tsk fine, let’s play!”

“Atta girl!”

Cira turned to him, raised her coffee cup threateningly and growled “say that again and those words will be the last you will ever utter!”

Jock gulped, but he nodded, then chuckled. He played the knife in hand, then turned to the boy.

Cira rolled her eyes, taking another sip of her coffee. “Are you going to hurt him or break into song?”

Jock snapped his attention back to her. He weld the knife raised to her and threaten “either shut up and play or your next”.

His threat had no effect on her. Her smile broke wide, into a devilish snarl and she laughed openly.

Jock shuddered, he gulped, then quickly regained his composure. He turned to the kid and threw the knife. It flew straight for the kid’s chest, then suddenly diverted off course, hitting the wall few inches from the teenager’s arm. His friend’s laughed at his throw. He growled, stormed over and ripped the knife from the wall. Muttering curses on his breath as he went.

With knife back in hand, he turned to the kid and snarled “don’t fucking move”

“Please, just let me go” the kid begged.

Jock ignored him. He snarled one last time, turned and strode back beside Cira. He thrust the knife in her hands and demanded “Your turn!”

Cira laughed again. “Sure” she answered. She wiggled the knife in her hand, moving it up and down her hand. Then pinched the tip of the handle and took a drink of her coffee.

“Fucking throw it already!” Jock cursed.

“Tsk Tsk. Patience boy” Cira Sandra laughed. She tossed the knife in her hand, then caught the weapon. She turned to Jock and snarled. He and his friends took an extra step back, turning their focus on the kid. Cira turned back to the frighten kid, raised the knife straight up and threw the weapon. The knife sliced through the rope and buried deep in the brick. The frighten teenager was free, the bullies eyes widen and Cira gasped a fake innocent “Oops”

“Fuck! Don’t you dare run!” Jock yelled as he pulled out another knife and threw the knife.

The teenage boy screamed, then threw his hands up over his face and ducked.

Suddenly Hanna dropped down from above and caught the knife mid-air. She twirled the knife in hand, taking a stand in front of the victim. Glaring the bullies down. She held out the knife with her three fingers, then snapped the blade in two. Allowing the broken remains to drop on the floor by her feet.

The bullies jumped at the sound of the blade’s shatter and starred shocked. Cira Sandra’s smile broke wide, impressed.

“I’ll give you one chance to run!” Hanna warned. “Then I will teach you all not to harm another person ever again!”. Hanna reached into her pocket, pulled out her phone and tossed it behind her to the kid. “Go ahead and call an ambulance. Actually…” she trailed off, raising her finger and counting the bullies before her. Her lip’s curled in her trademark smirk “Call for four ambulances!”

A clatter of metal behind her and she turned to find the boy had sprinted away. She frowned, then turned back to the bullies. She shrugged as she remarked “Guess I’ll call them later”

Jock sneered at Hanna. “what are you waiting for” He turned to his blonde friend by his side and shoved him forward. “beat the bitch up!” he growled.

The blonde turned to his huffed, then focused back on Hanna. He lifted his half empty beer bottle and threw it at Hanna. Then sprinted after it.

Hanna walked forward two steps. Caught the bottle, twirled and smashed the bottle across the blonde’s face. He dropped sideways and fell to the ground. She stepped over the boy and continued her march to the bullies.

Jock shoved the last of his friends forward. The boys looked at each other, then started backing away. Jock wasn’t having it. “fucking kill her!” Jock growled. “Go on then or your next!” he threaten and they ran straight for Hanna with beer bottles as their swords.

Cira turned to Jock and scoffed “well aren’t you the gentleman”

Jock snapped his neck to her and warned “don’t fucking start!”. Cira laughed mockingly at his idiotic threats. He starred at her for a moment, trying to speak, but soon gave up and turned back to Hanna.

Hanna watched the men run straight for her, then split apart last second and tried to flank. Hanna dodged the first man on her right, drew forth a fist and punched him in the chest. Another jab to his jaw, sent the man to the ground. She twisted to the second man, weaved under a bottle’s swing and launched forward. Slammed one boot down his leg, dropping the man sideways onto his knee. He cried out in pain, then tried to smash the bottle into her side. She kicked the bottle, smashing it into pieces. The first teenager launched himself at Hanna. Hanna turned back and side kicked the teenager in the head. The teenager twirled and face planted the ground. Turned back to the second man as he raised broken bottle. She caught his wrist, snapped his hand backwards then punched his lights out. The body dropped into a pile of glass.

Meanwhile Jock watched the fight unnerved. He noticed the shattered remains of a bottle and raced for the object. Jock snatched the glass and gripped tight, till blood dripped from his hand. He sprinted at Hanna while her back was turned. He raised the shard and swung. Slamming the glass into her shoulder before she saw him coming.

Hanna cried out, turned and punched him in the face. It knocked the teenager back. The glass still embedded in her shoulder. Hanna punched him three times more, then sprinted forward. Grabbed him by his shirt and pushed him backwards till his back collided with the wall.

Jock reached for her face, trying to shove it back.

She opened her mouth and bit down on skin of his hand. He yelped. The Hybrid ripped her mouth away, spitting out his blood. Hanna pulled Jock back, then slammed him against the wall again. She punched him twice in the face, one hit his nose and another broke his teeth. She went to punch him for the third time, but he ducked and kicked her in the stomach. She let him go, only for a second, but it was enough for him to dive forward and tackle her. Forcing her to the ground, his hands wrapped around her throat.

“you fucking bitch” he growled, dripping blood from his teeth and onto her face.

She gagged, trying to avoid the blood. “Dude your breath stinks!” she choked. She turned to Cira Sandra and asked “Little help here?”

“Yeah just let me finish my coffee” she responded lightly. Then raised her coffee to her lips and took a slow sip.

Hanna laughed “Wow! Thanks for that”

“You’re welcome”

Hanna heard noises by her head. She turned behind her, to the blonde man struggling to his feet, then back to Jock. She secured her grip around his forearms, then snuck her feet between his shoulder blades and neck. Hanna pushed until his arms stretched to breaking point. He gulped and started gasping, struggling to push down. Hanna waited till the blonde was on his feet, before she ripped Jock’s hands apart, twisted her body and his over and threw him backwards into the blonde. Hanna placed her hands on the ground, then shoved herself onto her feet. Turning her body to face the two teenagers. She watched them struggle to their feet before she heard the faint footsteps of people running. She turned behind her and smiled at her friends fast approach. Then to her side, where Cira Sandra was still sipping on her coffee. “Still drinking?”

“Very much”

Hanna smiled. She felt the air hit her face before she saw the fist coming. She rolled her head away from the fist, walked backwards and began to fight the blonde.

Cira watched on amused. She couldn’t take her eyes off her, not that she cared she was starring. A glimmer shine caught the corner of her eye. She turned to her left and found Jock pulling out a gun. Without hesitation, before her mind could comprehend her next move. Cira dropped her coffee, dashed forward and captured Jock. Holding his gun welding hand until his fingers broke. “Didn’t your father teach you how rude it is to attack from behind!” Cira warned. She pushed his wrist back till it snapped and his screamed filled the air. “Didn’t he?”

Jock looked up at him and gulped.

Cira gave him right-handed choke hold, then ripped the gun from his hand. Taking a few steps back, taking out the clip and unloading the bullets to the ground.

Jock snarled, then ran at Cira with his broken wrist in hand. He didn’t get far when the body of his blonde friend flew past Cira and tackled him to the ground.

Cira jumped and turned around with gun raised. The barrel of the gun hit Hanna’s chest and she felt something sharp poke at her stomach. Cira looked down and smirked at the glass in her side.

“shit” Hanna cursed, dropping the glass entirely. “sorry, reflex, are you okay?”

Cira chuckled, dropping the gun to their feet. “Just fine, but looks like you didn’t come out in one piece”

Hanna frowned confused for a moment. She followed Cira’s line of sight, to the bleeding shoulder and gasped “Oh that?”. Hanna shrugged as she turned back to Cira. “Don’t worry it’s fine, just a cut”

Cira hummed, she walked forward a few paces and reached out for the injured shoulder. To the glass poking through and prodded the fabric around. Running her fingers across the soaked red fabric. She looked up at Hanna, smiled, then stole a side glance to Hanna’s friends. “look’s like your friends are here and just in time to” she leaned over and whispered “till next time, Hanna” she walked past Hanna.

Hanna watched Cira disappear around building, then turned to her friends. Watching them skid to a halt in the middle of the chaos.

“What the fuck happened here?” Kit asked.

Hanna sighed “Lots of things”

“YOU THERE!” A woman’s voice shouted from a distance. The Crew turned and watched as a teacher came storming towards them. “WHAT’S GOING ON HERE!” the Lady demanded.

“Ah Shit!” Kit cursed.

It wasn’t the first time the Crew were called into the Principal’s office.

It certainly won’t be the last.

Sitting in front of the Principal’s desk, watching him stroke his greying beard and glare intently down at them. The man was dark skinned and wearing a blue and red suit. They hated this moment. The waiting for their parents to show up and deliver the final verdict. Hanna and Kit had often debated which was worse, the waiting or the punishment. Neither girl could agree on the answer.

Soon a knock rattled against the door and it opened soon later, revealing the face of young man fresh from uni. “Sir” administrator announced. “The Silvas are here”

“Excellent send Beatrice in” the Principal welcomed gladly.

The admin frowned “Beatrice?”

“Yes Miss Silva, or is her wife Ava here?”

“Umn?”

The principal’s eyes widen as he groaned “dear god who did you speak to”

The Crew chuckled amused.

Addams turned to the Administrator man and announced “Oh you’re new, but don’t worry this happens a lot”

“And you’ll know which parent to call next time, trust me on that” Kit added.

The Administrator nodded.

The door burst open again, causing the new guy to jump and in strolled was the Crew. They moved through the office, as if this place was their own.

“Morning Girls!” Mary stated as she entered the room.

“Hey Girls!” Ava announced as they took their usual stands in the room. “How’s it going?” she asked. She turned to the principal and said “Hey Mr Henson it’s been a while”

He sighed, leaning back in his chair. “It has been a while”

“So why have you called us today Mr Henson?” Bea asked.

“Well, these girls have beaten four men to a pulp and as you all know, we don’t condone violence here” Mr Henson stated. “I have four confessions of the incident and one eyewitness from a teacher. All the reason to expel them!”

“WHAT!” Both Crews yelled.

“You can’t be serious!” Kit snapped.

“What confessions?” Lilith demanded.

“The boys told me what happened” Mr Henson answered. “Hanna fought them without reason and her friends helped beat them”

“It wasn’t without reason!” Hanna stated, causing eyes to focus on her. “Look as I told you earlier, let my friends go they weren’t there. I fought them because they were using another kid as target practice”

Mr Henson sighed “I know, but without evidence to support your claim, I’m forced to accept the four confessions and a teacher’s witness as the truth”

“Well that’s bull, cause there was weapons!”

“Then where are they now?”

Bea turned to her daughter’s back and frowned at the red stained around the back of her shoulder. She sensed her wife move forward and so took her hand to hold her back. With one quick reassuring glance to her wife, she focused on the Principal intently. “My daughter attacked them you say?”

Mr Henson turned to her and nodded “Correct”

“Then why is she bleeding from behind?”

He frowned, confused at her statement. He looked between Hanna’s bloodied shoulder and her mother. His eyes flickering back and forth.

Suddenly the door knocked again and in walked the teacher and the bloodied kid Hanna saved. All attentions drew to them as they entered the room. The teacher, looked rather shocked as she entered. The boy, frighten, but trying to be brave. Carrying a paper bag clutched in his bruised wrists.

“We have something to discuss” the teacher announced. She turned to the child by her side and encouraged sweetly “go on and tell them what you told me”

“Tell us what?” Mr Henson asked.

“I was attacked” the kid spoke up, his voice was shaken, but he pushed himself on. He tried to look up at Mr Henson, but couldn’t bare to hold the man’s gaze. “Jock and his friends..I-I-I caught them drinking”

“At school?”

The boy nodded. “I tried to run, I begged them to let me go, but they wouldn’t!” the boy turned down the gathered group and focused on Hanna. Under her kind smile, he found the strength to continue “they tied me up, hurt me, but then Hanna came..she…that girl freed me”

Hanna hummed, turning her gaze away. She looked back at the kid and gaze him a nod.

“they wouldn’t let me go” he continued. “Hanna saved me!” he declared, raising his voice and twisting his focus to the Principal. “I would be gone if it wasn’t for her and she…she told me to hand this in” the boy totted forward and placed the bag on his desk. The gun clinked from the impact and the bullets inside rolled.

The Parents narrowed their gaze concerned at the bag.

Mr Henson leaned back. “Well then” he announced. “Seems my intel needs to be resourced”

Ava nodded, she turned to the kid and reassured “don’t worry kid, they’re not going to hurt you anymore”

He perked up and announced proudly “That’s what Hanna said”

Ava chuckled proudly “we’re much alike my daughter and I. And she’s very much right”

Hanna looked up to her mother and thanked “thanks mum”

“Alright” Mr Henson announced, moving the suspicious bag of evidence to him. “Tell us everything”

After the lengthy discussion, Hanna and her Crew were free.

Hanna’s first point of contact was outside court. Where Cira Sandra was found sprawled across a bench, one elbow holding herself up, drawing pad in hand and black chalk dancing along the page. Hanna smirked at the sight. She wondered over. She didn’t need to announce herself, for she only got within a few feet of Cira before the woman looked up at her.

“So did the kid do it?” Cira asked. “Or is this your goodbye before you get taken to Prison”

Hanna chuckled. “I’m free”

“That you are, good kid” Cira comment. She turned back to her drawing as she added “he has good instincts”

“Why did you hide the evidence, only to deliver with the kid?” Hanna asked confused. “Surely they would find it if you didn’t disturb it”

“No they wouldn’t” Cira answered. “The kid told me so once I found him, those boys have been beating kids like him many times before and they have hidden the evidence in plain sight. If I wasn’t the first on the scene, then they will win”

“Well thank you, for saving our necks”

“Oh please” Cira laughed. “I didn’t save you, I did you a favour” she pulled away from her book. Hands grasped together as she asked curiously “tell me what’s the deal you made with that kid?”

“What deal?” Hanna queried.

“The Deal?” Cira chuckled. “the one you made with the kid, why else would you protect him or is that it?” she asked, pointing a curious finger to the Hybrid. “That’s the deal you made, to be his protector for a price”

“Nothing”

“No?” Cira laughed. She rolled her eyes, picked up her book and started tracing her unfinished sketch. “if you don’t want to tell me that’s fine, I was just curious”

“No I’m serious, I made no deal with him”

“no” Cira laughed again. She looked up at Hanna and waited for Hanna to admit the deal, but Hanna did not. “Really?” Cira said confused, still quite not believing the brunette. Hanna nodded, causing Cira to laugh for a moment. She suddenly leapt to her feet, dropping her book. Cira took two steps towards Hanna, her gaze narrowed, scandalised by the woman in front of her. She pushed the red glasses back up her nose with the tip of her finger. Her dark eyes barely shone through the red glass. “Seriously" she exclaimed "You helped that whiny nerd for no reason at all!”

“Yes”

Cira scoffed. “You’re a fool” she cursed. Cira picked up her book and started marching away, past Hanna.

Hanna wasn’t having any of this act. “So why did you save him?” she spoke, she turned her head and watched Cira stop and turn to her with a serious glare.

“I. Did not save him!”

Hanna smirked, a little shake of her head and she insisted “now who’s the fool, I saw you Cira, you missed the boy and cut the rope”

“Slip of the wrist”

“Bullshit!” Hanna scoffed without any venom in her tone. “I may not know you, but I know what I saw. You set him free, why?”

Cira eyed her rival for a few moments, wondering why Hanna was so insistent of this reasoning. Wondering how Hanna knew the truth. She sighed, deciding to share light on the subject. “he was a boy that's all, what was your reason, truly?”

“because he needed help” Hanna stepped forward a few steps and continued “Looks like we’re not so different after all. You and I, could be awesome friends". Her smile soften with a hopeful look as she added "if you like”

For a moment, Cira fell for those sweet eyes. As quickly as it came, that moment went and she scoffed, shaking her head. “Or enemies”

Hanna chuckled, she leaned over and whispered “either way, as you wish” she pulled back and walked away. Leaving Cira to turn her head and follow watch leave, with a daring smirk that stretched ear to ear.

Meanwhile Ava and Beatrice watched on from the roof. Watching the whole conversation without either girl aware of their presence. A mark of achievement Ava will boast proudly about, if she and her wife weren’t so curious about the new girl and her dealings with their daughter.

“They’re dating!” Ava declared. “Simple as that!”

Bea scoffed shaking her head “we don’t know she’s interested in women that way”

“She loves Keira Knightly”

Bea’s face contorted as she tried to figure out her wife’s bizarre reasoning. “wha-tha-wait” she stumbled, then suddenly sighed and stated “No my love, I admit they could be close-“

“Girlfriends!”

“But she hasn’t come out to us, so maybe they see each other as sisters”

Ava raised one eyebrow at her wife and questioned “do you look at your sisters like that, even talk to them like that?”

“no”

“I bet you they are going to be dating” Ava declared. “Or will be”

Bea sighed amused, rolling her eyes at her lover’s antics. “We shall see my love” she said. She turned and focused on Cira “very least one of them is already interested in the other beyond the concept of friendship”

“Well either way” Ava stated, following her wife’s gaze. Watching Cira walk away in the opposite direction. “something’s going on between them”

“we shall see”
