Chapter 14
Late in the cold winter night
Despite Reya’s best efforts to get back inside the walls of Cats Cradle. Every touch sent her scurrying to the hills with fresh burns that threaten to reduce her entire body to ash. Now she stood high above in the clouds watching over the Cradle. She watched the guards patrol with the gentle orange glow of the church as their guide in the night.
A shadow fell from the heavens and thundered to her like a raging storm. Morphing into an angelic being with a torso of a spider, upper body of a human with a head of a ram. Many gold rings with eyes wore adorn on their body, the only eyes this angelic being had. For the rams head was clean of slots for eyes, only horns, ears, a nose and a salivating mouth.
Reya turned to the being and asked intrigued “Did you find it my son?”
“I did” the angelic being answered. "It's perfect, my best work yet"
“Then go forth and be done with it”
“As you wish, you will not be disappointed” he smirked. He sprinted suddenly for the edge of the cloud and flew downward to the lowest cloud. He dipped under the cloud, standing in mid air. He watched the Cradle for a moment, then proceeded to race across the length of the Cradle. Running on air. As he started to circle over the Cradle. Crossing the air left and right, leaving no spot above untouched. His gold ring eyes started to cry. Sprinkling dust instead of water. The dust was moss green and descended to the Cradle. Floating through Michelle’s shield and through the lungs of it’s inhabitants. His lips curled into a smirk. Watching the dust take effect. His dust invisible to the eyes of the enemy below.
All, but Lilith, Ava and Hanna, became affected. The dust seemed to burn off their bodies the moment it touched them.
He growled frustrated, racing around harder through the airspace above Cats Cradle. Trying desperately to infect the three survivors.
“enough Raglan” Reyas voice commanded.
Raglan stopped, turned to his master and sprinted straight back to her side. He fell to his knees before Reya. “Forgive me Reya, but these three…” he trailed off, forcing his head downward in shame.
She laughed shaking her head. “It’s quite alright Raglan, you see the older ones are Tarask blood and that young little one is Angelic”
He looked up at her intrigued, slowly taking a stand. “Angelic?” he queried.
“Very so, now go back to your siblings. You have done well tonight. Let them know to ready on my signal, I shall call when the seed you have sown is ready for harvest”
He bowed, then flew upward into the heavens, disappearing from this realm. Reya watched him leave, then focused on the Cradle. Watching as the green dust infect the human occupants. She smiled cheerfully. “yes, this will do quite nicely”
