The automated voice booms as Doctor Stephen Strange and America Chavez pass circles on the floor.

We remember, so you don’t forget

“Try it.” America says softly, practically pushing the sorcerer onto one of those circles so he is facing what looks like a one way mirror.

A magical disc (of sorts) scans Stephen, from his feet to his head, his eyes flashing the same light blue as the technological magical disk.

Stephen expected to see Christine.

He was all too surprised to see the person he saw, aside from himself, was most definitely not Christine Palmer.

It was Tony Stark. Anthony Edward Stark.

His mouth fell open for half a second, most definitely surprised to see the man in front of him.

In his universe, Tony was dead. And seeing this memory of him and Tony nearly broke his heart all over again.

The memory itself was something he faintly remembered, one of the many days in Tony’s lab, before the blip and before Stephen Strange and so many others were lost to the world for five years.

Tony was reworking something, one of his suits, he soon realized.

“Hey, Dumbledore? Can I test this out on you?”

“What?”

“Let. Me. Try. This. Out. On. You. Please?”

“Do I have a choice?”

“No. But, you shouldn’t have this on you. I don’t know what the tech is gonna do to it.” Tony says as he pokes the Eye of Agamotto.

“With Thanos around here, I would rather not.”

“Only five minutes, please? I’ll wear it, keep it safe where you can see it. Even Cloaky can keep an eye on it. Is that good, Dumbledore?”

Stephen scoffs, watching as the cloak shrugs in a way that would say this may be a good idea.

The cloak lifts off Stephen’s shoulders with the Eye of Agamotto, placing the Eye around Tony’s neck. The cloak itself then settles on Tony’s shoulders as it had many times in the past.

“What is that.”

“A reactor core.”

“You are putting a reactor core on me?!”

“It’s formed after a reactor core. It’s a house for nanotech. A new suit. I wanted to see how it looked on someone. On you.”

Stephen sighs. “Go ahead.”

Tony places the housing for the nanotech suit on Stephen’s chest, tapping it twice to see the nanotech slowly encase Stephen in the suit, all but his helmet, which was still open, so Stephen could see Tony.

The Cloak of Levitation moves in a way that could be seen as cheering, and Stephen tracks Tony with his eyes as he walks around Stephen, checking out the suit.

“I really like this. This is amazing…” Tony mutters to himself. “How does it feel? To, uh, be in?”

“It’s not bad at all.it seems easy to move in.”

“Looks nice on you too.”

Stephen smiled. The Cloak moves in a wave-like motion on Tony’s shoulders, hugging Tony’s shoulders.

The cloak seemed to have taken a liking to him. Which was something Strange knew for sure after however long he’s known Tony for.

“You look badass as Iron Man, Dumbledore.”

“Call me Stephen.”

Tony smiles his signature smile, saying Stephen’s name slowly before kissing his cheek.

Stephen Strange’s face went red.

“Stephen~”

Tony double-tapped the nanotech housing, the nanotech disappearing back into it. And with that, the cloak pulls Stephen right against Tony, to which Stephen chuckles. “The cloak seems to like us.”

“Or it just wants me to do this.”

And with that, Tony kisses Stephen on the lips.

And the memory fades.

And Stephen is back in reality.

And his heart breaks again.

“This was a waste of time.”

“No-! What…Who was that?”

“Tony Stark. My universe’s Tony Stark.” Stephen responds, voice cold.

“What happened to him?”

“He died. He sacrificed himself to save the universe. So…I lost him.”

“Oh…” America looks down at the floor, dejected. She could sense Stephen cared about the man. He cares about Tony greatly. “I’m sorry for your loss…uh…what made him so special to you?”

“Many things. He was kind-of a science-obsessed narcissist at points, but he cared about the Avengers. And myself. Anthony Stark was an amazing man.”

America cocked her head at the sorcerer. “You were in love with him.”

The love of your life is Tony.

The one you miss most is Tony.

Stephen sighs. “Yes. I was in love with him. Like hell, I was.”

“I wish he was alive in your universe.” America admits. “He made you happy.”

“Believe me…I would’ve saved his life if I could. Now, you try this memory-lane-thing.”

America scoffs, laughing a little, before stepping on the same circle Stephen had moments ago.
