He knows he is being foolish. He has no rights to you, you aren't his, no matter how much he wished deep down you were. Hell, he himself is here with Dot. But still, as he watches you flutter around the dance floor, he can't stop the ping in his heart.

You seemed so carefree and happy, as Tommy O'Hare and his stupid hands, skated you about the room. Laughing and giggling, your eyes never leaving his. Bucky's hands becomes fists at his side. The song changes, and Bucky has to keep himself planted in his spot, as he watches the two of you shuffle together.

You're standing much to close for Bucky's comfort, and when he watches Tommy's hands begin to creep lower and lower, he almost launches forward. But he doesn't have to, you are quick to right Tommy's hands yourself. Bucky can't help the smirk he gives, 'That's right Tommy my boy, hands off my girl.'

"Jaaammeesss." Dot's whiney voice cuts through Bucky's thoughts, pulling him back to the present. He tries not to sigh out, when he looks to Dot. She's pouting as she looks at him. "I wanna dance James." Her hands run up and down his left arm, as she bats her lashes at him.

Bucky chuckles, taking Dot's hand and giving it a gentle peck. "Sorry kitten, come on lets go give you a spin." He pulls Dot out on the floor with him, his eyes catch yours for the first time that night, as you finally look away from Tommy. He thinks he actually sees hurt on your face, and he suddenly feels guilty for being here with someone else. But you're not his girl, and you're here with Tommy, so he has to be wrong.

Bucky tries to drown the memory, in his glass of whiskey. His eyes wandering out to the floor where you are currently being spun about by the same man from his past. He is trying not to be jealous, he knows he has no reason to be. You're his girl now. Hell, you're wearing his grandma's ring ain't ya. But still, as Tommy's hands run lower, he can't stop the sour taste in his mouth.

The song ends, and Bucky watches you smile to Tommy, thanking him for the dance and bidding him a goodnight. And then he bends and kisses your cheek. You look taking a back, mumbling something to him, then scurrying back to yours and Bucky's table.

Your lips brush Bucky's cheek, before you find your seat and nuzzle into is large firm frame. "Having fun my love?" You hum up to him.

"Clearly not as much as you." His bitter tone bites at you, as he takes another gulp of his whiskey.

You look to him, confusion written on your face, "Are...are you jealous?"

"Kinda hard not to be, when your snuggled up close and gyrating with the man you had a thing with, before I left for war." He doesn't look at you, as he spits is accusations.

You quickly pull away from him, "How dare you." You seethe making your way out of the booth, before casting him with an icy glare. "I never had a "Thing" with anyone."

He chuckles menacingly, "I saw you the night before I shipped out, dancing with him." He barks out.

"The night you was snuggled up with Dot?" You scoff throwing your hands up before turning to leave. Something stops you though, and you stalk back to Bucky, leaning in close your tone full of acid. "Just so you know James, I only agreed to go because I knew you would be there, and I had hoped you might want to see me before you left." You quickly swipe the stray tear that begins to roll down your cheek, and then turn and leave James. Letting him stew in his own discontent.

James finally snaps out of it, when he sees your figure disappear out the dance hall door. He bounds after you. Eyes frantically scanning the street, when he bursts out the door. His heart breaks when his eyes find you, your on a bench head buried in your hands, small sobs filling the air around you.

Bucky slowly makes his way to you, gently sitting in the empty seat beside you. "I'm an idiot you know. I'm sorry doll, and I understand if you can't forgive me. It's just hard, I see you dancing with Tommy and can't help feeling like he could give you so much more then me, and I took out my insecurities on you. You this perfect dame, whose for some reason always loved me, even when I came back broken, came back a monster, you still loved me. You've never seen me as broken, never saw a monster, just saw James. I guess I just keep waiting for you to realize how much happier you'd be with a better man. I'm sorry doll."

Your sobs have stopped as he talked, but you still haven't looked at him, no doubt, working out everything he just said. "I did wanna see you, by the way. Drove Dot crazy all night glaring at you and Tommy."

You chuckle at that, and Bucky swears it's like music to his ears. "Really?" You're voice barley a whisper.

"Really. I..um...was gonna tell you about my feelings but then thought you and Tommy....I'm such an idiot doll." He looks to you lost and you can't help but wrap your arms around him.

"We both are. If I hadn't tried to make you jealous with Tommy, you may have actually said something sooner. And we probably wouldn't have had tonight's little misunderstanding." Your voice soothes over him, as the two of you snuggle together.

"I'm sorry I'm a jerk doll." He whispers into your hair.

You pull away and look to him. "It's ok James, but you have to talk to me ok. And no more waiting for the other shoe to drop." Your hands have cupped his face, making him look deep into your eyes. "I love you James, and nothing will ever change that. I'm never giving up and I'm not going anywhere. I thought obsessively following you around since I was in kindergarten proved that." You smiling to him gently and Bucky melts into your hold.

"You still want me doll? After our fight, and what I said? You still really will have me?" His eyes are pleading, and his voice is strained, as he stares into your gaze.

"Oh James. Couples fight, we are gonna fight again. It will never mean I don't love you or you don't love me. I don't want to fight, but it happens. We just have to learn to communicate what we are feeling better, so nights like tonight don't happen. But if they do, we take a breath and regroup. We never throw in the towel. I am never letting you go do you hear me." You voice is so sure, and

the look in your eye tells Bucky you speak only truth.

He is crying now, he didn't mean to, but you make him feel so safe and loved. You've pulled him into your embrace, gently soothing him, "I love you James. My strong, handsome, brave fiance. And I always will."
