ONESHOT: Wanda's Dream
When Wanda woke up, she had a slightly sad smile on her face. She got up from her bed and looked around her.
Wanda sighed. It was just a dream, once again.
The thought of having such a perfect life somewhere else filled her heart with joy, though it wasn’t exactly her life. Wanda enjoyed it anyway.
She hated all these negative thoughts she had days earlier. But ever since that night, that one night, she dreamed about something so beautiful that she didn’t want to wake up ever again. She dreamed about herself being pregnant and married.
Wanda sighed and looked at her mirror dreamy. Reality may suck, but it’s always worth dreaming. For the first time in months, she felt alive again.
It was somehow silly how that dream made her feel this happy. Was she delusional? Maybe. Does that matter? No.
Wanda looked at her reflection and smiled. She enjoyed smiling but often faked it.
She put a hand on her stomach and imagined herself with the life the other Wanda had. Then her phone ringed. That was the moment Wanda realized her dream was truly over. It's never going to be that way. With her mood ruined, Wanda walked to her nightstand where her phone was and wanted to hang up immediately, but she stopped after seeing who it was. Stephen Strange.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she felt better. Not that she would ever admit that to him.
„Hello, Wanda.“, he said, his voice sounding warm and friendly. „Is there a reason you randomly called me at this time? she asked, more annoyed than she intended to.
„Wanda, it’s 10 a.m“. Wanda almost let her phone fall. How long has she slept? „I just woke up.“ She answered shortly. Stephen laughed. „Well then, late bird, I have something to tell you.“ She was surprised. „What is it?“ Stephen chuckled. It made her heart flutter.
„You need to wake up, love.“ Hold on? What? „Wake up, Angel.“, Wanda woke up gasping. What the hell was that? When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was her husband's blue eyes. „You slept for nearly 10 hours. I almost got worried.“ Wanda laughed, and after kissing him, she threw a pillow at him. "Ouch! What was that for?" „That’s for waking me up. Linnea and I were just fine!“, and smiled at her swollen belly. „Linnea, Sweetie. Please don't ever throw a pillow at daddy, alright?“, Stephen kissed her belly and felt their daughter's movement. „I think I woke her up as well. Our little Princess.“
It didn't matter if it was a dream or not, she was happy. Stephen made her happy.
The End
