Daisy reflects on her past with the team as she and Sousa are out in space on Zephyr 3
Note
Another Daisy/Sousa piece. Sorry not sorry... This one isn't long and I put this one together quickly, but I think it turned out really sweet. Sorry for any errors. I did proofread it, but it's very possible I missed some things, as I wanted to post this as soon as I could since I'm going to be busy the next few days and wanted to get it out and not sit on it and forget the things I wanted to say in it.

Daniel wakes up to an empty half of the bed. Where is Daisy? She almost never wakes up before he does, so on the occasions that she does, he immediately thinks something is wrong. Don’t get him wrong, Daisy still wakes up early, usually she is the second one up after him, to do Tai Chi and the other exercises she has been doing in the mornings for years, but she has pushed back the timing on it, especially on weekends. Sousa turns on the bedside lamp, reaches for his prosthetic and puts it on. He makes the journey from their shared room in the Zephyr 3 to the kitchen. Daisy isn’t there, but he smells and spots a fresh batch of coffee. She can’t be too far away. He decides to make his way towards the cockpit, and if she isn’t there, then he’ll check to see if she’s in the training room/gym. As he gets closer to the cockpit, he sees Daisy’s silhouette in the doorway looking out into space. He doesn’t want to scare her, especially since it is only 5 A.M., but before he could make a sound to tell her he is there, she glances back and says, “Morning, Danny boy. What are you doing up already?” Sousa smirks and says, “Good Morning. I could ask you the same, since you typically like to sleep in on the weekends.” Daisy knows it is unusual for her to be up and about already this early in the morning, but she couldn’t sleep any longer. She came out here to have some alone time and reflect. The framework call they had yesterday evening was bittersweet. She loved seeing everyone and catching up with them, but it was also sad knowing they wouldn’t be getting together in person for months. Even though she is far away from her found family, she is glad to have her actual sister and her boyfriend on this adventure with her. “I couldn’t sleep any longer and came out here to have some coffee and to reflect on life.” “Would you like to expand on that or would you like some company?” Sousa inquires. Daisy lets out a little laugh and smirks, of course he wants to know what’s on her mind. She is not surprised at all that he asked and if she didn’t want to talk about it, he would still be there to sit with her and let her continue in her thoughts. She doesn’t mind sharing her thoughts with him though. “I guess yesterday’s call kind of put me in this mood of reflection. I started thinking about the past and what we went through as a team and family, all the ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies. I miss them dearly and wish we were together still. But, I know it’s for the best on where we all have ended up though. Mack is doing amazing as director, Yoyo is doing awesome with Piper and Davis, May is such a good teacher and is enjoying it, even if she says she hates it and is exhausted, Coulson is exploring the world and actually seeing it, and Fitz and Simmons are extremely happy and have Alya to take care of. So even though we aren’t together, everyone is happy and enjoying life.. Then I think how unbelievable and improbable it is that I’m here with my sister and man out of time. My actual family! For a long time, I didn’t think I deserved to be happy or be with anyone. I thought I was bad luck or I should say, I thought anyone who got close to me would end up getting hurt. But you have proved me wrong, and shown me so much support and partnership that I have missed over the last couple years. I love the team, but you seemed to have brought the joy back into my life that I had been missing… Yeah, that was a long-winded response and something I’m sure you weren’t expecting to hear this early in the morning. But I appreciate you listening to me and your constant support.” Sousa wraps his arms around Daisy from behind and whispers in her ear, “No place else I rather be. And you, of all people, deserve happiness and love. Trust me, it isn’t difficult to love you. Knowing your history and what you and the team have gone through over the years, it has had no effect on the way I feel about you. All the trauma, hurt, and heartache you’ve suffered has made you who you are today. You always put others before yourself, even at your own expense…You, Daisy Johnson, are the strongest, most resilient, and amazing person I know and I love you all the more for it.” He ends his statement with a kiss on her cheek and a tighter squeeze around her to enforce his point. Daisy turns around and gives him a kiss on the lips. His words mean everything to her and as cliche as it might sound, he is right about how everything she has experienced has brought her to this point. Would she have liked to have had a better childhood and not suffered the pain and hurt she has had all her life-of course. But then again, who would she be if things were different? Would she still have the same heart and overall want to do good and help protect people? At this point, it is all what ifs. She doesn’t need to think about that and wants to live in the now and cherish these types of moments with the one she loves beside her!
