Bubbling

Is there really no hope?

"No, there has to be another way. Please, whatever you want, I'll do it, daddy. Just tell me what to do to fix it."

"Y/n, you know you're are all I have ever wanted."

His large hands grip her arms tightly.

"You drove me crazy since before I knew you but I never gave up. I found you, I gave you everything and I only asked one thing in return but you still betrayed me. You gave that idiot your time. My time. What did you think would happen?"

"You're right and I'm sorry. I should never have gone behind your back but I felt so guilty about Noah, I knew our engagement would break his heart. I didn't know how to tell you; I was afraid you wouldn't take it well. I thought I could fix it on my own. I didn't trust you and I'm sorry, I'll never be able to explain in words how sorry."

He pulls her close kisses her temple."It's done, baby."

"No, no daddy, you can call Bucky: you can tell him to stop, you can tell him you've changed your mind, please!"

"It may be too late but if I do, then you're going to let me handle this my way and if you step a toe out of line, Y/n, I swear. If I find out that you've tried to contact him again-- ."

"I won't, I promise but please, please."

If there's even a chance Noah is alive, she'll take it.

He dials and brings his phone to his ear again, "Bucky, is the target still breathing?"

****************************************************
Spyhole into Bucky's side: He watches Noah through his sniper lens, aimed, finger on the trigger.

"I don't know, Steve, you tell me. Is this what you really want?"

Yes, the seething green thing in Steven says. He could bear the world better without Noah's existence. Y/n's mere consideration of the boy grated on his mind.

He cares nothing for Noah but he knows Y/n would never forgive him if he did this. He didn't want to live with her hating him. He could never bear that existence.

Bucky understands Steve's plight better than anyone. He watches Noah through his lens. He seems like a good young man, poor sod, just loves the wrong woman. He knows better than anyone that Steve would start a war before being parted from Y/n. He also understands Steve's love for Y/n; she's a pure soul; almost in spite of the cruel world around her. He sometimes finds himself liking her despite his best attempts. She's just unused to the kind life Steve had been exposed to because of their military background. She also wouldn't have done something this stupid without a good reason.

"You could cut her some slack, she's young, she'll learn."

"Go with plan B." Steve says and cuts the call.

Plan B? Y/n feels like she's about to scream. "Plan B? Steven-"

"I said I'll handle it Y/n so quiet and be good."

A little while later the phone rings. He answers.

There's silence as Bucky speaks, ***************************************************** Spyhole into Bucky's side: "Natasha's in touch with our agent at the firm. Singapore in a week." *****************************************************

She wishes so much that she could hear it but Steven's phone (and recently hers) had been eavesdrop and tap proofed. Though now she has no doubt hers had been secured against everyone but Steven.

"Tell her to make sure everything goes smoothly, I won't accept failure this time."

He hangs up.

She tries to swallow them but she can't stop the words,

"Are you going to hurt him?" She asks.

"Are you still so concerned for him?"

She looks at the marble floors.

"I'm going to make sure he goes very, very far from here and you."

She has her ideas about what he may mean. Steve had enough clout on Wall Street to buy his way into any company he chose. After their meeting she knows Noah will have no resistance against going away, and apparently so does Steven. Still could she trust that he wouldn't do worse? She'd never seen him this way, she's shocked by this rage from the usually calm character she'd come to love.

She wants to fight him but she knows exactly who would pay the price for that, she can't bear the thought. She needs Noah alive and at least as well as he can be (current circumstances considered). She can't hurt him more than she already has. Far but alive is better than him in the City graveyard. She stays silent. She's doing this for Noah, she'd already hurt him enough.

He grips her chin, making her look at him, "As for you, you will never, ever, try something like this again. You are grounded until you act like you know who you belong to. Have I made myself clear?"

She nods.

"I asked you a question, little wife."

"Yes, daddy." She answers verbally and hates that she loves him, hates that she can feel her sex responding to him.

"Y/n, if you ever try to lie to me again, there will be blood."
