Facing You, My Sole Regret Chapter 2 First Draft

The bustling, yet gloomy streets of District 20. Having spent most of her time in a much more colourful atmosphere that was Wuthering Heights, Ryōshū would come to loathe the lack of colour present in this Nest. Despite all that, she was the only one in the manor that would be willing to go out in order to complete errands set out by her Master.

Going out on her own volition, however? This was her first.

Prosthetic arms were never easy items to be sold, or even manufactured. Prior appointments had to be made, and even then, it would take quite a while for them to be delivered. Since Wuthering Heights was essentially closed off to the rest, Ryōshū would have to come back there and pick it up by herself.

Fortunately, she did have connections.

“Welcome to our workshop— ah, if it isn’t Ryōshū!”

“O.M. I’ll keep it short: prosthetic right arm in a week. Can you and your staff do it?”

“Just give me the specifications and I’ll tell my boys to get started right away.” The middle-aged man replied. “That would be 200,000 Ahn, please.”

“Oi, you actually have to stop giving me discounts. I know it’s 400,000.”

“It’s been a while since you came here, y’know.”

Ryōshū eventually gave up and paid the discounted fee.

“Your new Master treating you well?”

“It’s not like he’s doing anything.” Ryōshū replied while pulling out her cigarette pack. “Hah… I do have to sympathise with that fool…”

“You look like you have something on your mind.”

Letting out a small puff, she sighed. “...Had a break in. That boy killed his sister.”

“Cathy’s death… I did not think it would affect him that much.”

“It’s not like you can do much here, O.M. I’m just here to blow off some steam, after all.”

The man placed his big, calloused hand on Ryōshū’s shoulder.

“Oswald… Don’t do this.”

“You have to stop suppressing your emotions, Ryōshū.” Oswald said with a faint but sympathetic smile. “Cathy… she would have wanted you to be more true to yourself.”

“You know I can’t.” Ryōshū replied, her voice was starting to feel less composed. “I cannot afford to lose more. Confiding with someone… that’s just putting them in the frontline. N.H.”

“Aren’t you doing that with me already?”
