Saviors
Amadeus flew up to Peter on the floor and grabbed him. He swung him over his shoulder as he got out of the now clear room. The gas seemed to be disappearing. He set him down next to Flash. They both stared at him waiting for him to wake up. But he never did.
“Flash check his pulse.” Amadeus said to Flash in a panicked voice. Flash did as he was told, and he put two finger to peters neck. Flash paled.
“I don't feel anything.” He said to Amadeus. Flash put his hand on Peter's chest and his chest wasn’t moving at all. “I..I don’t think he’s breathing.” Said Flash in a frightened tone.
“Move.” Amadeus moved Flash over. “ He’s in cardiac arrest.” He charged up his repulsors and prepared to shock Peter back to life.
“What are you doing?” Asked flash.
“When I shock him I want you to check his breathing and pulse.” Flash agreed immediately, anything to save his friend.
The repulsors charged up loudly, and Amadeus’s hands started to glow. Both of them were ready to save their friend.
“Clear.” Amedeus put his hands on Peter's chest and the sound of the electric pulse could be heard as his body was lifted from the ground for a second. Flash checked his pulse but didn’t feel anything. Amedeus charged again.
“Clear.” Peter lifted up once more. Flash shook his head as he felt for a pulse.
“Clear.” Peter's body stilled as the last charge ended. Flash checked one more time, only to find nothing.
“Nothing.”
“I’m going to charge my repulsors up to the highest level, it should start his heart again.” Amadeus said in confidence. Amadeus set his repulsors all the way up, knowing that it could kill a normal human, but Peter wasn’t a normal human. He knew he could take it.
With an inhale to calm himself, Amadeus set his hands on Peter's chest hoping so much that this would work. Flash watched in anticipation, also hoping it worked.
“Clear!” The charge shook Peter's body as well as lifted it. They waited for anything. For him to breathe, or to move. Anything. But nothing happened. “No! It was supposed to work! This doesn’t make any sense!” Amadeus yelled in frustration, hands to his head. He laid back from his knees into his heels.
Flash didn’t say anything, but Amadeus could tell that behind the mask he was scared, and shocked, his hero and best friend was dead in front of him. everything he ever did to Peter he suddenly really regretted. Peter had forgiven flash but he couldn’t forgive himself. He hated himself everyday for what he did to him. So Flash had promised himself to never let anything bad happen to Peter on his watch. He failed him.
It sank into Amadeus the fact that one of his closest friends was dead. His former enemy turned friend was gone. The guy that looked out for him and In the end trusted him with his most advanced suit. He is the reason why Amadeus is here today. The reason why he’s a superhero.
They both sat there and grieved at the loss of their friend. Flash putting his hand on Peter’s chest hoping it would somehow start moving. Amadeus holding on tight to Peter’s hand, wanting it to squeeze back. They couldn’t believe it. Their brother was dead. They put their heads down and cried. Too busy mourning to notice anything around them.
Suddenly a short gasp made their heads go back up. Peter sat up, with wide eyes, taking a strong inhale before coughing. He kept coughing, his body convulsing as he tried to breathe normally. His friends helped him sit up, and they patted his back as he regained consciousness. He opened his eyes after the coughing fit, and through squinted blurry vision he saw Amadeus and Flash remove their masks. Their faces were tear streaked with shocked faces. Until they contorted into wide smiles.
“Dude!” Flash wrapped his arms tight around Peter. Peter was still coughing trying to figure out what was going on, and how he got there. “Don’t scare us like that man!”
Amadeus' face turned into a smile as he joined in on the hug. “I knew it’d work!” Peter didn’t question what was going on anymore as his tired body gave into the warm hug. He wrapped his two weak arms around the two webbed warriors as best he could.
The three sat in the warm embrace until Peter's weak arms gave out on him, and he fell forward into their hold. The two web warriors clung closely, supporting Peter's limp tired body and he fell into unconsciousness once more.
