Eve's head shot up with lightning speed, her face changing from shock to happy relief even faster.

Eve laughed through the tears, stroking her head and pressing their foreheads together.

"How bad is it?" she asked in a strained voice, then listened to Eve's report about flesh wounds and flimsy vests.
