Chapter 17
You and Stephen came to a sliding stop into the living room where Tony, Thor, Loki, and Steve were. "What's going on?" You gasped trying to catch your breath.
"Were being called on a mission. You wouldn't be coming With us but fury said all hands on deck so.." Tony looked stressed as he spoke. You felt nervous but quickly caught sight of Loki and felt a sense of calm wash over you. "Y/n Listen to me this is going to be dangerous. I.. I mean we will protect you."
"Tony what's the mission?" taking a step towards Tony he quickly walked up to you and took your hands into his. You felt Lokis anger by it and Stephens annoyance. Tony just looked at you the worry in his eyes didn't make you feel good.
"We have to take down a big Hydra base. They've taken some stuff from Shield that could really cause trouble if it stays in their hands." You felt your heart quicken then felt a set of hands on your arms. You felt frozen.
"Are you sure we can't handle this alone?" You heard Stephens voice from behind you and realized it was his hands on you to help steady you. You looked over at Loki and could see his anger and pain but he quickly became concerned when he locked eyes with you. He could feel your fear and could see how you visibly became pale.
"Fury said she doesn't have a choice.. I tried he doesn't care. He knows she's powerful." you looked away from Loki and closed your eyes letting out a deep sigh
"I'll be fine." you did your best to shake the fear you had but you couldn't help but feel nervous and scared. You had just got your freedom you weren't willing to lose it. Tony sighed and handed you the suit you guys have been working on for the past few weeks. You took it from his hands and held it close. You and Tony had become extremely close while making it and having it made helped center you and bring you some comfort. "Thank you. Ill go put this one really fast then we can go" You slowly turned away from everyone and walked out of the room.
Once you reached your room you were near a panic attack. You could feel your heart racing and it becoming harder to breath. You just had a really bad feeling about this. You felt a strong tingling around your neck and noticed the necklace Loki gave you was glowing. You placed you hand over your pendant and nodded. Loki was attempted to let you know he was with you. You'd be safe with everyone. Right? You quickly calmed your nerves once more and pushed the panic to the side as you quickly put on your suit. You heard a knock on the door as you slipped your final glove on. "I'll be out in just a second" You sounded confident. You took a quick look in the mirror and felt absolutely hot and powerful. Tony really knew how to make one hell of a suit.
As you went to walk out of the room your door opened and Loki walked in closing the door behind him. "Oh Loki I was just wa-" Quickly he held his hand up and closed the space between the two of you wrapping his arms around you. Eyes wide you returned the hug and smiled into his shirt
"I'm sorry for being distant. Ive had a lot on my mind. Its not excuse but I want to do something for you" Taking a step back from you he placed his hands onto your throat. Suddenly you felt your neck grow warm and closed your eyes. You felt his magic crawling into your pores as he worked. Slowly he pulled his hand away and hummed in approval. You glanced down and looked into the mirror and noticed your necklace he had given you had transformed into a stunning thick black choker with a bright green emerald in the middle.
"Loki you.. this.." You sighed and turned back to him. "Thank you. This means a lot" Smiling softly at him you took his hand
"You'll always have me watching out for you. Now come on we have to go" He pulled his hand away and walked out of the room. You stood there for just a moment and couldn't help but wonder if Loki cared or if he just did it because you were the only one even remotely similar to him. Quickly you followed him out of the room and began to head toward to roof to take off when Loki grabbed you by the waist and pulled you in. You gasped as you felt the room change the suddenly the two of you were on the roof hidden behind one of the walls by the stairs. You looked down at his hands and smiled
"If you wanted to get this close could of asked" You winked at him and he laughed softly he lowed his head to meet your ear
"I'm a god my pet." His voice was soft and rough "Perhaps You'll kneel for me and maybe then..." He pulled back and returned the wink and walked away towards the others who were waiting outside the jet. You felt your cheeks heat up. Maybe then what? You gulped and shook your head and ran towards the others
"There you are babe and might I say you look Stunning in our suit we made." Tony held out his hand as you approached. Without a second thought you took his hand and smiled at him. He has been calling you babe for a week now and honestly Tony made the word sound good. He spun you around and whistled "Perfection in every way." He held your hand as you walked onto the jet and walked you over to your seat only letting go of you when you sat down. You were sitting next to Loki and Thor. Thor smiled warmly at you and Loki smirked at you.
"Don't worry too much y/n let us do the major work" Steve spoke as he looked you over. He could clearly see some nerves or perhaps he really didn't like you. Steve was sweet but you could tell he had his guard up with you.
"Thanks Steve but I got this too. Ive been training with everyone but if I get too nervous or struggle I'll step back." You smiled at Steve and he returned the smile with a warm one and nodded.
"Smart girl" You leaned back in your seat and Thor patted your shoulder. He glanced at your choker then looked at Loki and winked at him. Loki honestly looked confused but just shrugged.
"Okay Listen up guys we are almost there. This is a research lab so you can expect a lot of agents. We have to keep the guards down while Steve sneaks in and gets back the data drive and destroy their computers" Tony spoke to everyone. You admired his skill at leading and honestly loved his suit he looked over to you, Thor and Loki "You three will be able to do most of the damage so Loki and Y/n will handle the front end while Thor and I hand the sides." You nodded and looked over to Loki who nodded towards you and winked.
"You've got this my pet" locking eyes with you Loki was able to easily speak to you in your mind. You smiled and looked towards the floor. You felt so much better knowing at least Loki would be close by. You noticed Tonys suit boots come into your line of sight as you looked at the floor. Kneeling down in front of you he lifted your chin to look at him.
"You okay babe?" Tony looked concerned but was able to mainly hide his emotions for the time being
"I'll be okay Tony. I've trained for this" You smiled softly
"You've trained for only a couple of weeks. We just finished your suit this morning. Please don't push yourself and if you feel overwhelmed Loki will be there and you call me and I'll be there within a second." His hand moved to your cheek as his thumb stroked your cheek you could feel Loki and Stephens discomfort from the interaction but this was Tony. He meant no harm. "Y/n I mean it. If you need me you tell me" Loki reached over and grabbed Tonys hand and pulled it away.
"Alright stark she gets it. Now can we keep our hands off of her?" Loki growled as Thor smiled towards his brother in a knowing way. Stephen cleared his throat knowing the fight about to happen would throw you off for the fight you needed to focus on.
"If you two are done we are nearly here and She needs to focus. Not listen to you two argue" He winked at you and looked away. You sighed slightly in relief knowing Loki and Tony would fight over the issue way more than needed. You glanced out the window and saw the jet beginning to land. The building before you was way to familiar. It was the hell hole you lived in for the past ten years. You suddenly felt pure rage. It was like a switch in you flipped and all the fear you held turned in to boiling hot rage. They were going to suffer for what they put you through and you'd be damned if they laid a finger on the people who saved you and have cared for you since. Loki noticed the change in your energy and became worried. He knew what you were feeling and this could go one of two ways... He feared you'd go down the same path he once went down. However when watching you he could still feel your goodness. You were angry and rightfully so But you were watching everyone else. Almost like you were putting your mind in a kind of space that would protect everyone at all costs.
