You’d heard about the hex. Resurrecting vision, the creation of her children. Building her perfect life from scratch.
You were the first person she went to after the blip. She showed up at your door after 5 years of being gone. She didn’t stay long, just enough to get on her feet and then head out there. It was long enough for you to realize that the thing you shared didn’t turn to dust when she did.
She had shown you the paper and somewhere in the back of your mind you had to have known what she planned to do. “To grow old in”. You couldn’t get the words out of your head and neither could she.
You’d hoped she could move on but it was clear she had never planned to. For all intents and purposes she was stuck back five years ago. Back with Vision.
You didn’t hate him the way you should, the way you wanted to. He was kind and smart and in his own way, funny. You two were similar in plenty of ways. You both cared for Wanda in a way that was unique. And she cared for you both. Perhaps even loved you both.
The timing of it all was unfortunate. That's all it was, really. Unfortunate. It wasn’t anyone's fault how it played out. You certainly didn’t blame Wanda. The hex and Vision and her perfect life without you wasn't her fault. At least that’s what you told yourself. You guys could have been great. Maybe not TV perfect, but close. Something real and tangible.
Did she ever love you this way? In a bring you back from the dead and raise twins with you way? A break the world, the universe, everything type of way?
No.
And you don’t think she could have. Not in this timeline. Maybe in another universe it was you that no one could hold a candle to. You, that she would do anything to have again. In another universe she felt about you how you felt about her. How she felt about vision.
The truth settles in you, both heavy and freeing at once. Now at least you can figure out where to go from here. Wanda had her hex.
