Talking To Myself
Steven paced back and forth, chewing on his nails and debating whether or not he should call Layla.
It’s not that bad. Jake appeared in the window and tried to get Steven to relax. Of course, Steven was anything but relaxed.
“You kicked Captain America in the bloody stomach!” Steven stopped in his tracks and flailed his arms in the air for emphasis, turning on his heel and glaring at Jake. “How is that not bad?!”
I mean… I guess I can see how that sounds bad. But! At least we’re not stuck in a cell! He smirked while Steven nearly had steam blowing from his ears.
What’s going on? I can barely relax with you two shouting… Marc sighed, rubbing his head and appearing in the fish tank. And why are you guys talking about being stuck in a cell? What happened?
“We didn’t do anything! I was perfectly fine at work until Jake decided to run as though he had just killed a man and cause the Captain America to come chasing after us!” Steven exclaimed while Jake glared at him from the window.
Los soplones obtienen suturas… Jake threatened, but Marc paid him no mind.
Wait wait wait wait. Captain America chasing after you?
An’ that mujer atractiva, Black Widow. Jake snickered but was met with nothing but disappointed stares. What? It’s true. An’ you both know it.
That’s not what we need to focus on at the moment-
But you’re implyin’ later we CAN focus on it?
NO- Marc sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He looked up at Steven and softened his gaze. Steven, I know it’s your time to have the body, but can I just take control real quick?
“Yeah, alright.” After a quick second, Marc was fronting and Steven had taken his spot in the fish tank. At least I’m next to Fake Gus, Gill, and Genoveva.
“Moving on,” Marc tugged on his shirt a bit. He always felt uncomfortable in Steven’s or Jake’s clothes. They were too formal for him. “So you guys were being chased by Captain America and Black Widow-”
Actually, they kind of walked into the shop and started interrogating us. Steven corrected before realizing he interrupted. Sorry, Marc. You can continue.
“Okay, so they were interrogating you, and during this interrogation, Jake presumed running would make things better.” Marc took a deep breath in and looked at Jake quizzically. “Why?”
Steven slipped an’ called Black Widow Nat, they got suspicious an’ I got us both outta there.
Then you KICKED Captain America in the stomach! Steven nearly shouted, clearly upset.
“Why would you do that??”
He was gonna catch us! solo me estoy repitiendo aquí…
“Alright, fair enough, I guess-” Marc sighed once more before going back over the situation. “So Captain America and Black Widow were interrogating you, Steven slipped with a name, Jake tried to run back here but was stopped, so he kicked Captain America in the stomach and finally made it back here. And now you two are..?”
Wonderin’ if we should call Layla or not.Jake shrugged and Steven nodded mutely.
“Well, here’s your answer. Don’t.” Marc paused to see if either of them would reply, surprisingly, they didn’t. “I don’t want Layla getting involved unless absolutely necessary. Even then I don’t want her involved. She already has enough on her plate with all these Ammit supporters wandering around, I don’t want her to worry about the Avengers coming after us as well.”
Alright, don’t call Layla then… Steven mumbled, a little upset that they still kept things from her. Then, what are we supposed to do if they come after us again? And they most definitely will after Jake attacked Mr Rogers like that.
Jake glared at his alter but didn’t say anything. Marc sighed at the two before wondering what they were going to do. Steven was right; after something like that, they would most definitely be on the Avengers “Bad Guys to Catch” list. They could try running, but those righteous assholes followed them all the way back to London just to question him. So… What could they do?
Marc rubbed his eyes with both hands before pulling them down his face and staring at his two alters.
“From what I can see, the best thing we can do is lay low.” He saw Jake’s brows furrow at that and Steven’s worried gaze become even more nervous. “We can’t fight the Avengers-”
Maybe you can’t, but I sure as hell can. Jake nearly growled, but looked away as Marc continued.
“We can fight them, but you know we can’t beat them. Even with Khonshu’s powers we’re still outnumbered, so Steven’s going to have to take a few days off from work-”
And I just started to get comfortable, too…
“Jake, you’re going to need to take a break from being a cabbie, only for a little while though.”
You’re just afraid I’m gonna try an’ break that patriotic f#ck’s spine.
“Quiet. And we’ll all have to stay off of our devices in case they try and track us from them.”
Can we still use the TV? Steven questioned, raising his hand a bit before quickly lowering it.
Yeah, I’m not missin’ out on Classic Mary Berry just ‘cause these asshats are tryin’ ta get in our pants.
“What? Of course we can still use the TV.” Marc rolled his eyes as he grabbed all of their phones and shoved them in the little hiddy hole he made a long time ago in the wall. “I highly doubt they can track us from a television set.”
