overwhelming feeling of desperation

The only sound being their loud heartbeats and the two panting as they continue staring at each other.

“Clint sto-“

Clint speaks over Natasha, “why did you get to come back and not them?” he asks coldly. Pulling the hammer back and loading the chamber “why you?”

“I wish I knew” Ikol demands, “because if I did know I would help get them back, thats what you all want right?” she asks the room “that’s the only reason I’m here, so if you want to risk your chance at getting your family back then go ahead” she moves so close that she can feel the cool metal grazing her nose “pull the trigger, it’s not like my life will get any worse”

“Clint drop the gun”

“why?” Clint asks loudly, eyes still on Ikol and his finger not moving from the trigger “it’s true, the only reason she’s here is to get everyone else back, I was gonna kill you after you got them back anyways so why can’t I do it now?”

“because no one is back” Sam says, “besides we don’t know if Ikol can bring them back without them going crazy”

Clint smirks “just another reason to kill her”

“you are the worst assassin I have ever met” Ikol declares with a laugh “I’m right here, your finger is on the trigger and you still can’t do it”

“Ikol shut up!”

She rolls her eyes and reaches forward, pressing the trigger herself.

Sadly, Clint moves the gun so the bullet misses, embedding itself in a boxing bag not far behind them. Clint throws the gun across the room and looks at her like she’s fucking crazy, which isn’t wrong.

She repeats “worst assassin I have ever met” and walks out, not looking at anyone as she leaves.

“okay, next test, how many people are in here right now?”

Ikol takes a deep breath and focuses, her stomach feeling weird as her brain shouts the number five over and over. “five people” she answers, keeping her eyes closed and waiting for the answer.

She hears them breathing, their hearts beating a little faster as Sam says “there’s only four of us”

She opens his eyes, Sam, Tony, Nat and Bruce all standing on the other side of the glass and watching him, they don’t see the other person behind them.

Only Ikol can see her.

He stares at the green woman, her long red hair glistening in the light. Tony notices her staring behind them so Tony turns around, looking at the empty spot and asking “who do you see?”

“a woman-“

“ask about dad”

“who’s dad?”

“our dad” she says

She frowns at the woman “our dad?” her dad is Odin, “what do you mean?”

Ikol blinks, the person dissapearing “what do you mean our dad?” she asks but the woman doesn’t show up. She swallows as focuses on the people she knows are really there

“was that Hela?” Nat asks

“is she green?”

Bruce blinks at her then asks “you saw Gamora?”

“what happened to her?”

“Ikol, you saw Gamora?”  Ikol doesn’t answer, he’s still waiting for the answer to his own question. Plus she doesn’t know if that’s really Gamora, he doesn’t know Gamora.

Sam sighs “Thanos took Gamora to Vormir, he left with the stone, but not with her”

Ikol blinks, looking back at her to try and get more information but she doesn’t show up, no one does “she said to ask about our dad”

Something seems to go off in Bruce’s head ask he asks “what do you remember about the attack on New York?” earning a smack to the arm from Tony and a whispered “we’re supposed to let him remember on his own”

Bruce waves him off, obviously onto something as he continues waiting for an answer. So she tries to remember but all she remembers is the feeling, how scared she was. “I remember being confused and scared, I remember this overwhelming feeling of desperation” like he was begging someone to realize that he wasn’t okay. “and then it stopped and I was relieved”

“Thanos made you attack New York”

Kol frowns “how do you know?”

“you told me, before he um.. found you again”

“hmm” Ikol leaves it at that, waiting patiently for one of them to tell her the next test.

“chaos..”

Ikol sighs loudly, tired of hearing those stupid voices all the time, it wasn’t just Hela bothering him all the time, more voices started to talk with each day that passes. It’s getting pretty annoying.

“death..”

She vaguely hears Sam talking with the others.

“corruption”

She can’t take it anymore, she whips her head to the side and yells “shut up!” at the unseen voice.

“help-“

She exhales, the room quiet for once, apart from the machinery buzzing with electricity behind her. She drops her head back, letting it rest againt the backrest as she asks “are you done now?” suddenly feeling exhausted.

They were relaxing today, no tests, no brainstorming, no meetings and no super power drama. Wanda, Kol and Nebula are all sitting in the living room, watching TV while Tony orders pizza when, Sam comes from the stairs asking “is anyone allergic to cats?”

Tony sighs, knowing why he’s asking but, Tony still asks “why?” slowly.

Only for Bucky to pop out from behind him with a white cat in his hands “we found her” he says happily, this is probably the first time Tony has seen Bucky smile.

“there’s this café we always go to and this cat’s been there for weeks so we brought her home” Sam explains, watching as Bucky puts her down to allow her to investigate the room.

Tony rolls his eyes with a large sigh “you got all the stuff she needs?” he asks as he watches her slowly trot over to the couch, sniffing the legs of all the furniture before she jumps up on Wanda’s lap. “litter box, toys, bed, food?”

“I was just gonna go and get it” Bucky says before explaining that “I just wanted to know that we could actually keep her before I did”

Wanda smiles as she pets the cat, asking “what’s her name?”

“Alpine” Bucky states, watching Alpine jump off of Wanda and walk across the couch to Ikol. The latter reaches out her hand, allowing Alpine to sniff her hand.

Alpine does so but Ikol gets the opposite reaction than what he wanted. Alpine backs away, arching her back and hissing wildly at Ikol.

Ikol frowns, her stomach sinking as she watches Alpine jump off the couch and run to Bucky, hiding behind his legs and still hissing at her.

Animals usually love them.

Ikol sighs and turns back to the TV without another word.
