Summary
Tom asks you for help buttoning his shirt cuffs

“Hey, darling?” you hear Tom’s voice shout from the other room where he is getting ready for an interview.

“Yes?“ you step into the room and ask.

He’s standing there with a goofy grin and holding his arms up to show you his unbuttoned cuffs on his shirt.

“Would you help me?”

“Of course,” you say as you walk to him.

When you gently grab his wrist, he recoils at the feeling and steps back.

“What was that about?” You ask him with an inquisitive look on your face.

“Your hands are freezing!” Tom exclaims. You laugh at him and move closer again.

“Oh, they can’t be that bad. It’s summer, Tom. Come here, babe,” you say with a smile.

When you touch him this time, he grabs your hands instead of letting you button his cuffs. You soak up the feeling of his warm hands on yours.

“We have to get these warm, y/n,” Tom says. He’s feigning seriousness and rubbing your hands with his to create heat.

“Tom, stop it that feels so strange,” you practically laugh out as he also breathes out hot air over your hands.

“But it’s helping isn’t it?” He asks with a grin.

“Yeah, yeah. You got me there. But you have to get going. Let me button these for you,” you say.

He looks at you contently as he lets you button his cuffs. It’s intimate as you delicately button them and your fingers brush over your husband’s skin.

“I wish you were going with me today, darling,” Tom says as you finish.

“Me too,” you say. He pulls you into a warm hug and you bury your face in his neck. When he tries to pull away, you sigh and only hold onto him tighter. He laughs at your clinginess.

“When I get home, how about we have a date night? Maybe a picnic and a night swim?” Tom asks. You hear excitement in his voice at his ideas.

“Sounds perfect, Tom. Go knock ‘em dead. And please baby, please don’t spoil the movie,” you joke and giggles as he pulls away to kiss you goodbye.

“I’ll try not to, but I make no promises,” he says. “I love you, y/n.”

“I love you too, Tom,” you reply. He kisses you once more and leaves out the door for his interview.

When he comes home later that evening, he brings home food for the picnic and the two of you talk about your respective days. He assures you he didn’t spoil the movie and you laugh at his cute way of listening and nodding along as you talk about your day as well.

Being with Tom is the softest love in the world and it makes your heart warm every single minute of the day.
