Chapter 3 Remy
Remy Pov
I raced Henri and Alec out to the bus the same way I did every morning. I sat down in the very front seat where the driver could see me and stuck a chocolate on the dash for her. She had to put up with enough crap from everybody else on this route. I figured that she could use at least one thing to smile about in her day, or at least I didn't have to contribute to making her day suck.
I put in my head phones on and turned on my Discman. I turned on Greenday and bounced along to basket case as loud as my Discman would spin it. We got to school and I hopped off the bus. Technically we could ride to work with Papa and walk to school, but Papa was worried that it would be easier for someone to come after us that way. I walked to class and sat down. I yawned. Today was gonna be a long day.
I hopped off the bus and ran inside. Tante Mattie was waiting for me. "And how was yo day today chil?" she asked me with a knowing look. I gave her my best poor remy look. "Tante Mattie" I said "Dis boy had de mos terribly borin day dat a boy could evah have. Firs he have to sit true a history lecture den dey make him tak a test and den de wors ting of all happen. Herri and Alec make dis po boy ride de bus home all by himself."
Tante Matti laughed "How about some cookies you wil chil? Would dey make dat po boy feel bettah?" I grinned and nodded "You know dat yo cookies can cur anyting Tante Matte." I told her, tilting my head to the side and focusing my charm on her. She wacked me upside the head with her oven mit. "Don you be turnin dat charm on me boy." She said with a raise of her eyebrows "You don knowd dat it don work on me chil?" I grinned and shrugged my shoulders. It was always worth a try. I never could charm Mattie. I think her spirits protected her from it. I couldn't ever charm Papa either, but I think that was because he always somehow knew when to expect that I was gonna do it.
After cookies Mattie sent me upstairs to do my school work. She said that she had felt somthing new in the spirits today and that she was certain that things were about to change for the family in a big way. She didn't say that is was bad though, and Mattit always told me if she was feeling that things were about to be bad. The others didn't understand all that Voodoo stuff, but grown up on the streets the way I did you learn that some things are just too powerful to ignore and that superstition exists for a reason.
I heard the usual racket downstairs and I knew that Alec and Henri were home. Possibly Bella too I considered. It was Monday and she usually came over on mondays. Her Pere thought that it was good for her even though she was assasin and we were thief. The prince of assassins' was an excellent strategist and he believed the same way that Papa did that one day there would be peace in the guilds.
I finished my school work and made my way down stairs. There was someone else here. I could feel it. Who ever it was a special like me. I could feel their mind as it brushed up against my own. I could feel his shock and his surprise. I all but ran down the rest of the stairs. I stopped at the bottom and made my way cautiously to the sitting room. From my vantage point I could see Bella and Henri sitting together on the setti. I could see Alec sitting at the coffee table with the chess set in front of him. There was another boy. He was facing away from me. I could tell that he was short though. He had light skin and cinnamon brown hair. Yes. This boy was definitely him. This was the other mutant.
He turned around. He looked shocked he stood up slowly and crossed the room to stand in front of me. I was about six inches taller than him. If someone asked me I would say that he is around eight. He kept his head down. He acted like a servant. Was he Bella's? Henri stood and said "Remy this is Spencer. He is going to our school next year. He just moved to town. Spencer, This is my little brother Remy." I put my hand out. "Remy Lebeau at your service." Spencer looked up finally meeting my eyes. I gasped "Spencer Reid at yours" he said taking my hand. I was still looking into his eyes. They were glowing a beautiful fire orange. They were silted just like a cat's.
