Once outside, Carol Kamala made her way to the rooftop where she first learned how to train her powers with Bruno, only to remember that the shop exploded not to long ago and then she spent another ten minutes finding a secluded spot where nobody would notice what happened. Once satisfied, she opened her messages.
Kamala: Bruno I am so so so sorry about ignoring your messages I have a new problem please and thankyou.

Bruno: What did you do now
Zoe: People are saying you went out??

Scrolling through her phone, Kamala stops on a picture of herself in full costume and focuses.
It doesn't take long, thankfully, but it wasn't the crash that hurt. No, it's the fact that she warps into nothingness for a terrifying second before reappearing as herself.
She starts a video call immediately. It doesn't take the others long to join.
"What the heck?" Bruno leads with. "What the heck?" He repeats.
"You remind me of Barry from Best Friends Whenever," Zoe responds. "The nerd friend obsessed with figuring out her powers."
A pause.
"Shut up."
"This is very off-topic," Nakia comments.
"Thank you, Nakia," Kamala says. "But also, yes, what the heck. Also, I'm screwed, I broke my closet door."
"This is another bangle thing?" Bruno asks. "I was so sure there was something else."
"I think it is, but maybe the bangle was just... warning me, or something."
"Can you do it again?" Zoe asks. "I promise I won't record it if you do."
"This seems like the type of ability you'd need a good grasp on," Bruno says.
Kamala sighs. On one hand, it'd probably be good to practice it just in case, but she also doesn't want to get into the habit of shapeshifting into Carol Danvers.
She takes off her mask and uses it as a phone stand, then closes her eyes and really focuses on Bruno.
It hurts, but when she comes back Bruno's squawk is worth it.
"I'm Bruno," she says. "I blew my home up to celebrate getting into college."
She focuses again, and switches back. "Like that?"
Zoe snorts.
