Fights
Pepper and I made our way into the building.
“I know you might not like the suit or me helping him but I figured he would have done it no matter what so I helped to make sure he was as safe as could be.”
“He’s lucky he has such an amazing daughter.” I smiled at her as the elevator opened.
We looked around as we made our way to the office. She put the flash drive in and we got in before the files started to copy. When a video popped up of dad. Pepper translated it and they talked about killing him.
“Pepper.” She held my hand and then we were both startled by Obahdia walking in. He started to talk and I made my way to sit on the desk to block his view of the drive and Pepper slowly moved the paper over it as he continued to talk about dad and walked over to us. She talked to him and he turned to me.
“It must be hard for you Rebekah.”
“Well you know me, I'm resilient, I take whatever is thrown at me and handle it. I know dad will be fine because he is strong and I'm here to help him. To support him in his road to recovery.” Pepper tells him we need to get back and she needs to get me home. She grabs the drive with the paper and we start to walk out when he asks about the paper. She handed it to him and we made our way out as fast as we were able to.
As we walked down the stairs I saw Phil there. I had forgotten about the meeting but he would be able to help us. Pepper talked to him as we walked and then I spoke up.
“We have the info that will help us take down Obadiah and turn this company back to what it should be. But we do need to get out of here because we are in danger, Phil.”
“Do you know Rebekah?’
“It’s a long story and I will be happy to tell you later but now we need to get out of here.” We made our way to the car and headed to Phil’s office.
Once there we told him everything and showed them all the files that we had made copies of at the office.
After telling him everything he got five other agents and we made our way back to Stark Industries to stop Obadiah. As we walked to the cars Pepper called Rhodey asking him to check on dad.
I was in the back of the car with Pepper and Phil in the front.
“Are you going to tell me how you know each other now?” Pepper asked me.
“Grandpa helped start the organization he works for, so I have been around it from the time I was born. I'm just on the need to know. Mom used to work for them before, you know.”
“What about you then?”
“I help out when I am needed but you can’t say anything to anyone, they keep me working for them a secret to protect me more.”
“Your secret is safe with me Rebekah like you always are.” For the rest of the ride, Phil went over the plan with us on what would happen once we were there.
I was nervous. I had no idea how this was all going to go down.
We pulled up and all got out of the cars and made our way into the building. Walking around we looked for sector 16 and once we found it Pepper tried her key card which no surprise didn’t work on the door. Phil then put the device on the door before leading Pepper and me away.
Standing with Pepper I covered my ears knowing what was coming. I just hoped that dad was alright and Rhodey was able to help him.
Walking in and looking around, Phil took the lead with another agent and I followed with Pepper by my side.
We saw a small suit and I was not sure what to think they were talking about it being bigger and knowing how Obadiah was I had to say there was a bigger one somewhere in here. Just had to find out where.
We were all looking around and Pepper kept me close to her. As we were walking we both heard something and looked at chains hanging down. Just then glowing eyes showed up. Pepper let out a yell and grabbed my hand and started to run pulling me with her. I heard the gunshots behind us as we ran for the door. I fully knew how to take care of myself but also knew at the moment Pepper had already gone through so much and she was worried about me. So I let her pull me along as we ran.
Finally getting out of the building Pepper got a hold of dad and they started to talk.
“Yes I have Rebekah, she is fine,” Dad said something, and then Pepper started to talk before Obadiah came up from the ground. Just as I thought he would get us dad came flying in and then they went off. I looked over to Pepper and she was looking like she was about to freak out.
“Pepper are you alright?”
“I don’t know this is so much more than I thought it would be.”
“Just remember to breathe Pepper.”
“How are you not freaking out?”
“I am, I guess being a Stark I'm just used to the crazy.”
“You are so much braver than anyone else I know.”
Just then dad started to talk to Pepper again. Obidiah then attacked dad again.
Pepper talked to dad some more and then started back into the building, I followed her.
“We need to open all the circuits.”
“He’s going to overload it?”
“Yes he is, do you know what to do?”
“I do, you get those, I will get these.” We were flipping switches and pressing the buttons. Once we were done Pepper told dad we were ready. We waited for dad to tell us to press the button and then the glass ceiling started to fall around us, I covered my head and Pepper tried to shield me with herself. Then dad fell through and was holding onto the frame. He yelled for us to push the button and she yelled back to him about waiting before he told us to press it again before Pepper yelled.
“You’ll die”
“Daddy get down.” He slid down more.
“PUSH IT” Pepper pushed the button and we both ran. A huge beam of light shot up and then an explosion happened.
“Pepper, where is dad?”
“TONY”
“DADDY” we went looking for him and ended up finding him on the roof. Running over to him I started to look and saw the arc reactor flashing on his chest.
“Daddy, please wake up, you have to be alright.”
“You can’t get rid of me that easily.” I heard him say in a whisper.
“You scared me,” I tell him as he sets up.
“I'm sorry baby girl, just needed to keep you safe.” He pulled me into a hug and I held on tight to him. I let being wrapped in his arms bring me comfort.
“Pepper, thank you for watching out for my little girl.”
“There is nothing more important to me than making sure she is safe Tony but I’m glad you are alright.”
“I’m glad that she’s number one to you.” We slowly got up and made our way back down where Phil was with agents taking care of things on the ground.
“Are you all fine?” He asked as we walked up to him.
“We are good,” Dad told him.
“NO, dad you are going to be looked at I don’t care what you say. I might have let you get away with it before when you got back but you are this time. Do you understand?”
“When did you become the parent?”
“Someone has to be the responsible one in this relationship don't you know.”
“Well now that my daughter is in charge I guess I am getting looked at, are you happy now?”
“Ecstatic,” I tell him with a smirk.
“100% your father’s daughter.” We all headed out and Phil had the medics at the office look over dad before he was cleared and we were able to head home. Then dad informed us the house was kind of a mess and Phil wanted to debrief us all. So I found myself in Phil’s office setting between dad and Pepper. I tried so hard to listen but felt my eyes slowly getting heavier and heavier by the minute. My head slowly started to fall onto dad’s shoulder and before I knew it I let the darkness consume me.
The next morning I woke up feeling sore. I slowly set up and looked around. I was on the couch but now at Stark Industries in dad’s office. With a sigh, I got up and went to find dad and Pepper. I walked around looking for them and after a few minutes, I found Pepper.
“There you are, I was just about to wake you up. I got you something to wear. I will wait for you while you change.”
“Alright, what is going on?”
“Your dad has a press conference and you might go up with him.”
“I Will be back then.” I walked into a bathroom quickly changing and freshening up some before making my way back out to Pepper.
I saw dad walk up to Pepper and I made my way over to them.
“I trust you were able to get some sleep,” Dad said to me.
“Yes, I didn't realize how tired I was.”
“You look beautiful”
“Thank you, daddy, and thanks Pepper for getting me the stuff.”
“Of course sweetie you do look amazing.”
“Thank you, So what Is going on then?”
“I have to go give a speech unless you want to.”
“I’m alright, but thanks and have fun with it.”
“Worth a shot.”
“Although you would say what you are told to,” Pepper said.
“Dad does not do scripts.”
“So little faith in me.”
“Let’s see if you can do it then dad.”
“I will just wait and see.”
Pepper had dad set down so she could help him get ready to go out. I watched them as Rhodey was on the tv talking about the night before.
Listening to dad talking about how Iron Man had a nice ring to it even if it was not iron.
Phil walked in with note cards that he handed to dad and they went back and forth on the story and dad asked if maybe it was just him and Pepper.
“You do remember you have a daughter right?”
“Well, you can be with us. I’m sure you could find all kinds of things to do.”
“Lucky me,” I say, rolling my eyes at him.
Phil tells him to read the cards and I go back to listening to them and Rhodey.
Phil starts to walk out and Pepper walks over to him telling him thank you for all he has done, they talk for a moment.
“Just call us SHIELD.” He starts to walk out again.
“Bye Phil see you later.”
“Goodbye, Rebekah.” He tells me before walking down the hall.
Pepper helps dad get his jacket on and I watch and listen as they talk and flirt. I'm pretty sure they forgot I was sitting there but I didn’t mind. I just sat with a smile on my face.
Dad walked out and Pepper turned around and saw me.
“What was that?” I asked as she turned red.
“That was nothing you should be watching your dad though.” I smile as we turn to the TV and Rhodey introduces, dad. He starts to talk some.
“Do you think he will just say what the cards say?”
“Knowing dad the way I do, there is no way dad is going to say what is on the cards. He is telling them everything.”
We watched as dad talked for another minute before saying what I knew all along would come out of his mouth.
“Truth is…. I am Iron Man.” Everyone started to talk over one another. I smiled and looked over to Pepper.
“I told you.” After that everything went crazy and I spent the day watching as they all tried to fix things. Once dad finally came back into the room I smirked at him.
“I know you were right. What do you want?”
“We never got to go on my birthday trip. I want to go on one.” From my first birthday to the last two birthdays we had always gone on a birthday trip dad, mom, and me. Happy and Pepper would come sometimes too, but it was always my favorite time of the year because we were able to be like a family. We had not gone the last year of this year and I was ready for one.
“You and Pepper plan where and when we will go.” I got up and hugged him.
“Thank you, Daddy”
“Anything for my princess.” The rest of the day I worked on planning the trip and they were taking care of dad's Iron man announcement.
When it was finally time to head home I could not wait because I was tired.
As we went home we saw a shadow in the dark and out came Fury.
He and dad started to talk and I finally was done when Fury brought up the Avenger Initiative. He had already told me all about it. I had helped come up with a few ideas for it even.
“You know as much as I love this project and I would help you tell dad. It has been a long 48 hours. Better yet it has been a long few months. So I am going to take a nice hot shower and then put on some comfy clothes and then I am going to sleep. I will then deal with everything else in the morning because at this point I am so tired my brain is done. So I wish you both a good night and have fun. Please try not to fight and keep it down. I need sleep. Nice to see you, Fury. Night daddy, love you.” I kissed dad’s cheek and started up to my room.
“Good night Rebekah.”
“Good night baby girl, I love you.” Once in my room, I looked to my bathroom and then to my bed then looked back and forth for a moment before walking to the bathroom with a sight. I quickly got ready for bed and then made my way back into my room and fell onto my bed. I knew tomorrow I would have all kinds of things to take care of but for the moment I let sleep take over me.
