Summary
A twist to how Ragnarok ends. The reader sees the opportunity to see and fulfill how Ragnarok takes place, but one has to sacrifice.A little painful ending with the one you love.

Everything has come to an end.

It has come upon us.

Ragnarok.

Thor, Brunnhilde, Bruce, and I returned to Asgard from Sakaar for one last dance with Hela. Not that scary at all we’re just here between winning and losing in the very end.

“Y/n! You came back!”

A voice greeted me as soon as I landed on the bridge with a thud and a sword in hand.

“Heimdall! It’s good to see you again!” I came to greet with a hug from an old friend. We did not keep the happy chatter for too long because in front of us were soldiers from the dead. Such fathomable sight. I separate from Heimdall and began taking one soldier after another. Bruce became Hulk and was battling Fenrir while Val managed the aerial attack on the army in front of me. Thor was nowhere on this battlefield so guessing he went straight to Hela in the palace.

Asgardians were backing behind us, fear written on their faces. The army still charging in number. My sword has killed one after another, Heimdall managing the other half. But it was far from enough. We need everyone to get out of here before it's too late.

“Your savior is here!”

Guess it’s not the end yet.

“Did you miss me?” The god of mischief’s voice rang as a large ship parked beside the rainbow bridge. Asgardians hurriedly head to its entrance to ensure safety.

“Loki, I thought you're staying in Sakaar?” I asked as his familiar footsteps closed in my direction.

“Darling, I can’t seem to let you and my oaf of a brother hog all the heroic stances,” he said taking by braided hair in his palm and closing it to his lips. His lips touched my hair smoothly as he rest his hand on mine afterward.

“I see the new helm, suits you,” I commented with a smile.

“Welcome home. I saw you coming,” Heimdall said as Thor stood beside him.

“Of course you did.”

“Alright boys, enough chat,” I said as Loki stood in between Heimdall and me as we created something like a shield for the Asgardians between them and the army of the dead.

Each of us took our stand, weapons in hand. Heimdall took out some soldiers and so did Loki and I until some familiar faces joined in the fight. And upon closer inspection, they were the warriors from Sakaar. Fighting off each other for the Grandmaster’s pleasure and entertainment. Korg and the others battled alongside us, zeroing out on the army.

“You brought back up, my dear,” I pointed out at Loki.

“Yes darling, they aid my escape so I brought them here. Guessing you need my help?”

“I would be lying if I won’t be needing any help at this point,” I said while driving my sword into the body of a soldier before turning to Loki, smiling at him. Loki did the same and gave me a warm smile in reply as we dive back into battle.

Our swords paused when all of a sudden a huge lightning struck down the palace. Everyone around us was in shock but not me and Loki, we both knew who just conjured such a monstrosity. The lightning never died down when all of a sudden the god landed on the far end of the bridge, hitting each soldier with a flash of deadly lightning.

Much to our surprise the other end also made a big entrance. The grandmaster’s huge ship emitted colorful fireworks which made half of the soldiers spin around towards the oh-so-lovely Brunnhilde in her Valkyrie white suit. And just like Thor she went and massacre the soldiers charging at her.

“Loki, your grand entrance was outdone,” I whispered to Loki.

“I will give this amazement to the oaf for once,” he replied with his famous smirk.

“You finally admit you admire a part of your brother.”

“To tell you, darling, I don’t loathe the oaf. I just love you more than the oaf,” he confessed. How subtle just like when he confessed to me when we were still young.

“You sly snake, I miss you.”

“And I, too darling.”

Our conversation was cut to a short when Thor finally reached our point. His other eye missing, just like Odin.

“You’re late,” Thor said to Loki as he sent me a nod.

“You’re missing an eye,” Loki replied.

“Not the right time for any banters, gentlemen,” I said cutting them off.

“This isn’t over,” Brun said in a whisper tone as she walked by us.

Nodding at Brun’s word I walked up to her and took my place, standing beside her. Loki and Thor followed shortly. Loki occupied the space on my left and Thor took Brun’s right side. And in front of us was Hela, walking towards us.

“I think we should disband the Revengers,” Thor said.

“You’re thinking about that right now, Thor?” I questioned.

“Hit her with a lightning blast,” Loki suggested.

“I just hit her with the biggest lightning blast in the history of lightning. It did nothing,” Thor said with a rather ‘did-you-not-see-that’ tone.

“We just need to hold her off until everyone’s on board,” Brun said as I gave her a slight nod.

“It won’t end there,” Thor said with a hint of sadness. As I turn back towards Hela. Her helm was ever so tall, dark and sharp gleaming under the cloudy Asgardian sky.

Thor was making a point that made me zone out. I picked up on a little detail from his words though, something about Hela growing powerful the longer she stays in Asgard and that we need to put an end to her at this very moment. I was thinking of ways to stop her in here and let the others escape, but my train of thoughts got cut short when Loki half-joked to Thor beside me.

“I am not doing get help.” Loki’s serious tone made me facepalm, trying to stop an outburst of laughter.

Thor stepped forward in front of us as his eyes darted to Hela before turning to look at the Asgardian-filled ship behind us. People still slowly getting into the ship.

“Asgard is not a place, it’s the people,” Thor said with authority.

His words made me look at him and Asgard behind Hela. My heart hit with a pang of realization at what he was pointing out. A way to win. This may be a painful one, Thor knows that on my end. I was out of Asgard for years, only to be home when he made me join him on his journey to stop Surtur. I should’ve gone home earlier if this was the scenario I would be facing.

“Loki, this was never about stopping Ragnarok. This was about causing Ragnarok,” Thor’s voice rang in my head.

“After all our hard work defeating Surtur, only to know that we’ll be unleashing him to Asgard,” I said. My eyes were glued to the golden palace.

“I know we did everything we got, Lady Y/n. But this is the only way.”

His eyes went from me to Loki, telling him where Surtur’s crown was being kept to safety. One of his recent trophies. It was indeed the only way.

“Bold move, brother,” Loki said.

“No.”

“Lady Y/n?”

“I know how to end this.”

Everyone froze in their places. Unsure of where I was going with this.

“I have a plan,” I said, confidently.

“Darling,” Loki said with concern.

I looked at him with a smile.

“Everything will be fine, my mischief. I have Surtur for my plan.”

Loki looked at me with hesitation in his eyes. Something was telling me that he knows how this will all end, how our story will end.

“Loki, my dear, go. I’ll be fine,” I assured him.

“NO! I won’t lose you again,” he said caressing my face in his palms.

“This will work, my dear. Trust me,” I said, connecting my forehead to his.

“I will stay with you, please.”

“Loki, no.”

“I can’t lose you, PLEASE! Let us end this together,” he pleaded, his voice cracking with pain.

His hand wrapped around my wrists as he gently pulled me towards him. Landing safe against his chest. Loki’s heartbeat is loud and clear against my ear, beating rhythmically like mine. I slowly looked at him in the eyes while his hand caressed my cheek before dipping his head down to mine. His lips over mine, a silent promise.

“I’m sorry, my love,” I whispered as our lips parted. In a blink of an eye, I used my magic to make him disappear, transporting him inside the ship. A tear fell from my eye as the god of mischief disappeared in front of me.

“Y/n, what are you planning?” Thor asked.

“Trust me on this one, Thor.”

“Y/n, I don’t think you facing Hela alone will stop her,” Thor said trying to change my mind.

“I have to do this Thor. So you have to promise me something.”

“Y/n,” my name ran long in his tongue trying to stop himself from crying.

“Thor, go. I’ll keep her here. And . . . “ My voice lost in the abyss, unsure how I would end my farewell with a promise.

“Y/n, I know. I’ll keep him safe,” Thor said, reading my mind.

“Be sure he knows that I loved him so much,” I said, Thor, feeling my pain in his. He was about to say something but I just smiled at him. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes.

Brun, Thor, and Hulk were hesitant to leave. They were stubborn as Loki, but Loki was a whole another level of stubborn which made me move him to safety first. When the other three did not move an inch, I looked at Hulk with pleading eyes. He was not moving anywhere but was later convinced that this was a farewell and they needed to get out. So he took both of his friends in his arms and leaped on the ship that was now suspended in mid-air. Thor was screaming to put him down and that I need help forgetting about my farewell.

“A little Asgardian left to fend for her land,” Hela’s voice rang in the middle of all this pain.

“I will end this here and now, Hela.”

“I would like to see you try.”

As if on cue, Surtur appears from behind. Startling Hela as she looked away from me, her eyes now on the entity that just appeared behind her. She turned back to me for a split second before turning back to Surtur. I guess summoning Surtur in a distance worked, I thought as I held a piece of Surtur’s crown in my hand. A chip that broke when Thor and I came back to Asgard. It was something that made me think of this possibility.

“This is the end, Hela. We both know it.”

She let out a hiss as she lunged at Surtur whose sword was now severing the lands of Asgard. Engulfing the whole land into flames. Houses burnt down, trees and crops turned into ashes and the castle fell into its structure, leaving it in the slow nothingness.

Hela was not one to give up. She used her magic wildly, summoning the black crystal darts in massive sizes and quantities. I just stood there, looking at the destruction. Accept the fact that I am about to succumb to my end along with the place. My eyes were dead forward, accepting my ending when all of a sudden a hand slipped into my own.

“That was not lovely, darling.”

“LOKI!? You have to go!”

“Now why should I?”

“You’re not safe here, Loki please,” I pleaded.

“Darling, I am not leaving you behind no matter what you do,” his soothing voice said like an oath.

“But you’ll die.”

“At least I will be with you to Valhalla.”

“Loki.” My voice trailed off, his name rolling off my tongue.

Loki’s eyes shifted from me towards the current destruction that is happening in front of us. Flames surrounding the once vibrant Agard into nothing but ashes and flames. Hela went beyond the flames without any of us noticing.

“What a glorious way to go,” Loki said.

“It was supposed to be my glorious way,” I croaked, trying to make a joke while crying my eyes out.

“Standing next to the one I hold dear,” Loki hummed with love as he turned his face towards mine holding me close to him. His arm snaked around my waist as his other hand found my right cheek to rest. My eyes now staring at his beautiful blue eyes.

“For years of not being with the person, you love only to meet in dire circumstances,” I confessed.

“We’ll be together in Valhalla, my love,” Loki assured me.

His forehead now resting on mine as I imagine a forever with him in Valhalla. I know that he will be accepted in the gates for he has done a wonderful and amazing job of correcting all of his wrongdoings. His villain self is now left under the ruble of memories we both share before we left each other’s side.

“My dear, Y/n. Know that I never stopped loving you.”

“And I never stopped loving you either, my mischief, Loki.”

Our hearts are one and together for this final arc in our life. As I seal our confession with my lips on him, returning the favor to me with the same amount of love that I have missed for so long as we both embrace the darkness slowly taking over the place with only undying love holding us together.

Our last mischief to eternal love.
