Oblivious Chapter One

Tony was in the briefing room on the Helicarrier. All of the Avengers had already left, including to go wherever they needed to go. Steve was on a mission, so he had been primarily piloting the meeting. He stood up, and picked up his Iron Man suit, which was a suitcase on the floor. He wore a blue suit, and dress pants and shoes. He walked out of the room, and he shivered. Why’d it have to be so dang cold down here? He went up the elevator, and was on the top of the Helicarrier, preparing to climb into a helicopter bound to New York City, but he saw the quinjet land crooked and quickly on the runway. Cap climbed out, yelling to everyone that was around that something was wrong with Nat.
Lots of people came running, including Tony, and Cap carried her out of the quinjet. Tony started at the sight of Nat’s face. She was pale, shivering and sweating, and she looked dazed. She didn’t seem to recognize any of them, squinting at their faces. They took her down to the medical bay, and Tony immediately put on his helmet and summoned Jarvis. Everyone gave Tony room, but Cap stayed at Nat’s side, holding her hand. He mumbled to himself, then took the helmet off. “What is it?” Cap asked.
“Jarvis doesn’t know what it is. It must be manufactured. Very high fever. What was she like before she got this sick? What were her symptoms?” Tony said, his eyebrows furrowed with worry.
“She kept asking the same question every 2 minutes. She looked dizzy, and she kept sneezing.” Cap said. “That’s all I can think of.”
“Hmmm...” Tony continued examining Natasha. He wasn’t a doctor, but he was the closest thing they had, considering Bruce was on a mission. “Cap, let go.” Tony’s facial expression didn’t change much, only a tiny bit of panic shined through. “Let go of her hand. She might be contagious.”
Cap let go. “We’re probably going to have to test you.” Tony said.
Fury came over. “Quarantine is mandatory, in other words. Come on, Cap.”

Tony had seen that room before. It was white, completely white, and bunk beds sat against every wall. Tony had been in quarantine in that room before, and he hated it. Natasha lay in critical state in the medical bay, and Cap showed absolutely no signs of getting sick.
About 2 days after Nat and Cap first arrived back at the Helicarrier, Natasha lay in critical state in the medical bay, and Cap showed no signs of getting sick. Fury tested and released Cap and Tony from the Helicarrier, and Tony went to Stark Tower, for the first time in 2 days.
Pepper wasn’t there, like Tony was hoping she would be. She had heard that he had been tested negative, and was on her way, but she hadn’t been waiting for him. He went into his lab, that looked much like the one in Malibu, and began tinkering with little things for Peter to mess with.
Pepper got there in 15 minutes. She sat and ate lunch with him, and they talked. “Hey, any idea where Nat caught this ‘mystery virus’?” Pepper asked.
“Nope.” Tony continued tinkering, and Pepper followed him into the lab. They were silent for a few minutes, then Pepper spoke again.
“Do you know where she caught it?”
“I already told you, no…...” Tony whipped around. “Pepper?” She looked normal, and she was smiling confusedly at him.
“Do you know where she caught it?”
Tony’s mind filled with panic. He rushed to her, and felt her forehead. She was feverish. He picked up the phone, ushered Pepper to a couch, and called the Helicarrier. No one came to the phone for a little while, then Cap picked it up.
“You have reached the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.” That was not how they were supposed to answer the phone.
“Cap? I need a helicopter down at Stark Tower. Or...I don’t know, I don’t know where to take her.” Tony stuttered.
Cap sounded worried when he spoke again. “Hang on, Tony.” Tony noticed, he wasn’t calling him Stark. “Tell me what happened.”
“Pepper’s sick. She’s feverish, and she kept asking the same question. I don’t know where to take her!” The panic in Tony’s voice rose, and he knew it.
Pepper was sitting on the couch, still smiling, and asking, “Do you know where she caught it?” She looked paler than she had before, starting to bare a resemblance to Nat.
“Hang on, Tony. I’ll get somebody down there.” Cap hung up, and Tony sat with Pepper, who kept asking that question.
A helicopter showed up shortly, and Cap and a couple of agents jumped out. They carried Pepper, who didn’t even seem to notice, to the helicopter, and they all headed back to the helicopter. Cap sat next to Tony on the way back.
