The truth untold
What the fuck am I doing here again? Ellie asked herself as she stood outside Dina’s door. Should I knock or text her first? What if she doesn’t want to see me? It’s fine Ellie you just need to make sure she’s okay and then leave, no big deal. She battled with herself before eventually deciding to knock on the door. She waited for a few moments with no answer until the door finally creaked open.
”Ellie?” A quiet voice squeaked. Dina looked like she had had a rough night, her hair was messy, as if she had just woken up and her eyes were barely open. She scrunched her face up as she rejected the sudden burst of sunlight that pierced through her eyes. With a fatigued groan, she managed to get her voice out, "What are you doing here?"
”Hey, sorry did I wake you up?"
Dina shifted her weight to the side, leaning on the door frame. She eyed Ellie up and down, in usual Dina fashion, "It's fine, I’ll allow it since it’s you,"
"Well…" Ellie muttered, avoiding Dina's eyes, "I just wanted to make sure you were feeling ok,"
”Were you worried about me?" She retorted with a hint of cockiness.
"I would say yes but I don’t want you growing an even bigger ego, if that’s even possible…"
Her eyes slowly started to regain life and a smug grin slid across her face, "Well aren’t you a little sweetheart?"
"Please don’t let it go to your head-"
"Ellie Williams, my knight in shining armour-"
"You’re so fucking insane."
"Can’t you let a girl dream?"
"So what I'm hearing is I’m in your dreams now?" Ellie responded. For a moment she thought that she was being too bold, that perhaps she had accidentally made Dina uncomfortable. Her worries instantly started to dissipate as Dina let out a bright chuckle.
"That was actually pretty good for your standards."
"What can I say? I’m learning from the best."
"That’s a sign we're finally getting to know each other well-"
"Or that you’re a very bad influence."
"And you’re so lucky that I’m too hungover to come up with a comeback right now.” She exhaled whilst rubbing her forehead.
”I figured you’d be so I got you a mango smoothie,"
Dina fake gasped and held her hand to her mouth, "My favourite fruit, you remembered?!"
"How could I possibly forget anything you say?"
"Aw, do you really mean that?"
"I mean you talk so much I have to at least remember some of it-"
"Ok fuck you, I thought you were being serious for a second," Dina replied as she playfully rolled her eyes.
"Now you’re just overestimating me."
”Whatever, just give me the drink-” Dina went to reach for the cup but Ellie pulled her hand back almost immediately.
"Where are your manners?"
"Are you seriously doing this right now?"
"What’s the magic word?" Ellie taunted as she held the drink above Dina's head.
"If you spill that on me I swear-"
"That doesn’t sound like the magic word to me."
"You’re really frustrating you know that?"
"Just use your words and I’ll give it to you."
Dina stared up at Ellie for a few seconds before eventually giving in, "Give me the drink… please-" She managed to push out.
"Wasn't so hard was it?" Ellie smiled as she placed the cup in Dina's hands.
"Do you want me to close this door on you right now?"
"You might not wanna do that-"
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t?"
"Well, I guess you don’t wanna see the present I got you…" Ellie showed her the gift bag that she had hidden behind her back.
"That’s for me?!" Dina asked enthusiastically as she pointed to what Ellie was holding.
"Yeah, I hope you like it or whatever…"
Dina beamed as she reached inside the small bag and revealed a potted plant with an arrangement of flowers that were barely in bloom. She looked at the tag and read out the large golden letters, "Amaryllis?" She sounded out clumsily. "You got me flowers?"
Ellie felt slightly embarrassed as she nodded. Is it weird that I bought her a gift? Did we reach gift-giving status? " Yeah you seem like the type to be a plant mom-"
“Well you’d be correct, they're really beautiful," Dina stood on her tiptoes and planted a thankful kiss on Ellie's freckled cheek. "Thank you."
Ellie tried to hide her shy smile and flushed cheeks but she knew she probably wasn’t doing a very good job at it. "Oh it’s nothing, I was already buying something else anyway so…" She lied.
In reality, Ellie had spent the majority of that morning walking through several stores, searching for the perfect gift. She had zero experience in gift giving and even less in knowing what girls liked so it’s safe to say that she had to resort to extensive research (aka consulting Google for advice) and thought that getting something for her apartment was the perfect balance of showing that she cared without being too intense. After hours of wandering around, she landed on the amaryllises. She read through their description on the brightly coloured displays. Apparently, they were a symbol of strong, independent, self-confident, and beautiful women; to put it simply, they fit Dina perfectly.
"Still, that was really thoughtful of you."
Thoughtful? Me? "Please do keep the compliments coming."
"You're the best, I’ll guard Ellie Jr with my life-"
"Ellie Jr?"
"Of course, named after her other Mom-" she smiled.
"Very creative-"
"I could say the same about you, what made you think of buying me this?"
"I don’t know your apartment looked pretty bare so I thought this could give it some life."
"Wait a second, when did you see my apartment?”
"You don’t remember?"
"All I remember from last night was one second I was at a party and next I wake up with a throbbing migraine-"
”Really? Uh, last night I found you by the stairs so I helped you inside.”
”Oh God…” Dina covered her face with her hands.
Shit was I not supposed to say that? ”Oh don’t worry nothing weird happened I just put you in the bed- I hope that wasn’t weird, was it weird?” How many times did I just say weird?
”No no, that’s not the problem-"
"I swear nothing happened or anything-"
"No, Ellie, it’s just- I wish you didn’t see me in that state, it’s kind of embarrassing….”
”Oh that’s all this is about," She let out a sigh of relief, "It's fine, no big deal.”
”Did I say anything crazy?”
Ellie wondered if she should tell Dina about what she said the night before, she couldn’t help but feel curious if she really mean she was over Jesse. For Jesse's sake of course, not hers. Do I mention the part where she said she wanted to kiss me? Maybe we’re better off forgetting that. ”Nothing crazier than usual-“ She eventually responded.
"Are you sure? People say I tend to get a little out of control when I’m drunk-"
"Out of control is definitely one way to put it."
"The point is, sometimes I say things I don’t really mean and I don’t want you to think-"
She didn’t mean it. Of course she didn’t mean it. "You really didn’t say anything, you were pretty much asleep when I found you-"
Dina laughed, “Not very reassuring but thank you anyway, I’m glad I have someone to look out for me-“
”Anytime-“
”Is there anything I could do to make it up to you?”
”You don’t need to, it really didn’t bother me-“
”Nonsense, you went out of your way to help me last night and brought me all this stuff this morning-" She started, her eye contact becoming more intense. "There has to be something you want from me-“ She voiced in a slightly deeper tone as she moved in an inch closer.
Ellie blinked several times, feeling a strange hanging tension in the air. She quickly turned away, she could’ve sworn she heard a disappointed sigh escape Dina's lips, or maybe it was all in her head.
“Ok… how about you promise to stop drinking so much?"
Dina definitely sighed this time but it was more dramatic and heavy, "Do you not want me to have fun?"
"If you’re going to drink at least make sure you have someone to watch over you-"
”Fineeee, I’ll keep that in mind."
”Alright, I have to get to school now but maybe I’ll see you later?”
”I hope I should be so lucky. ” Dina smiled as she waved Ellie off.
—
Ellie impatiently stood outside the campus gates, waiting for Jesse, who was strangely late. He was lucky that she was in such a good mood or she would’ve already gone home and ditched their meet-up. To keep her from boredom, she began to scroll through her phone. She somehow (definitely accidentally) ended up on Dina's Instagram, there’s no harm in looking, right? She began to look through the pictures, she had photos of her at parties, with her cats and of her travels. Woah this must’ve been years ago… She thought as she paused on a picture of a very young Jesse and Dina. Dina was wearing what looked like her old cheerleading uniform and Jesse was in a matching varsity jacket, "Could they be any more perfect?" She muttered bitterly. As she tried to scroll away, her finger accidentally grazed the like button, which made her almost fall out of her chair. Shit shit shit! She cursed at herself as she quickly removed the like. Did she still get a notification for that? That picture was from 5 fucking years ago. Just then, her phone buzzed, who else could it be but Dina.
Hotstuff: Are you stalking me?
Ellie: what do you mean
Great job Ellie. She’s going to think I’m a weirdo, she’s never going to want to speak to me again, she’s-
Her thoughts were immediately interrupted by the ping of her phone.
Hotstuff: I don’t blame you I would stalk you too if you actually posted anything
How can she just admit that?
Ellie: you seriously have no shame
Hotstuff: just tell me what you’re up to
Well, I can’t exactly tell her the truth.
Ellie: Nothing important
Hotstuff: I guess you’re right nothings more important than texting me
Ellie: that’s not what I meant
Hotstuff: there’s no point denying it just admit that you’re obsessed with me
Ellie: you’re not funny at all
Hotstuff: says you
Ellie: what’s that supposed to mean
Hotstuff: from what I’ve heard your puns aren’t the best
Ellie: I really hoped that you would’ve forgotten that
Hot stuff: how could I forget? it was the worst thing I’ve ever heard
Ellie: you haven’t even heard the worst ones yet
Hotstuff: care to share one?
Ellie: ok you wanna hear something really funny
Hotstuff: I’m desperate
Ellie: why did the actress break her arm?
Hotstuff: idk if I like where this is going
Ellie: because she wanted to be in the cast
Hotstuff: …
Hotstuff: that was so bad
Ellie: admit it, you laughed
Hotstuff: I did not laugh
Ellie: don't lie to me Dina
Hotstuff: ok maybe I laughed a little but that’s only because you said it
Ellie: I knew it.
"Ellie!" A loud voice shrieked, snapping her back to reality.
"Oh, Jesse you’re here?"
"I've been here for like two minutes trying to get you to notice me-"
"Sorry about that…"
"Who were you texting?"
"No one important."
"Are you sure because I’ve never seen you smile so wide at your phone?"
"It was just a funny video don’t worry about it-" She replied with an awkward smile.
"Okay…" He responded sceptically. "Anyway, anything new with you?"
"Nope, things are just the same as usual."
"You seem to be in a good mood though, it’s making me feel uneasy…"
"Gee, what a nice thing to say."
"I’m happy that you’re happy, I just wanna know why."
"I have no idea what you’re talking about,”
"Fine, I’ll let you off this time, let’s just get straight down to business."
"Wait what business again?"
"Dina? You know my ex? The girl you were supposed to be giving me updates on?"
Oh right. She thought, remembering that the only reason she was supposed to be talking to Dina was for Jesse.
"Uh well…" She wondered whether she should tell the truth, she didn’t want to betray Dina’s privacy but Jesse was also her best friend. "From what we’ve talked about, she seems… ready to move on?"
"Wow, brutal…"
"Well, that’s what she’s saying but it might not be true, she keeps attaching herself to me but maybe that’s because she’s lonely-"
"What am I supposed to do then?"
"Put some more effort in? She likes gifts so maybe try that."
"Everyone likes gifts."
"Whatever, just buy her something nice, maybe for her apartment-"
"So like a coffee machine?"
"No definitely not that, she hates coffee."
"She does? Why didn’t I know that…?"
"Ok maybe ditch that idea and just offer to help her with her auditions."
"What auditions?"
"Uh Romeo and Juliet… she didn’t tell you?"
"Man, I had no idea how out of the loop I was."
"I had no idea how in the loop I was…"
"Is that why I don’t see you these days? Is she stealing my best friend from me?"
"Don't be dumb Jesse-"
"Then what’s the real reason you asked me where she was last night?"
"Because… I was wondering if you guys were back together or whatever-"
"You're doing that thing where you play with your hair when you lie-"
"I don’t know why you’re acting so suspicious when you put me up to this in the first place-"
"I’m preparing myself in case I get double-crossed-"
"Geez you’re both so dramatic I can’t deal with you-"
"Just saying, I’ve seen all the James Bond Movies."
"And that’s why you’re such a fucking nerd-"
"Hey, this is not what we came here to discuss-"
Ping!
Ellie's phone suddenly went off and she looked at the notification, of course, it had to be from Dina.
Hotstuff: Are you busy?
"Who’s that?"
"Uh, Dina…"
"What’s she saying?"
"She’s asking if Im busy."
"Are you going to say no?"
"I guess so..."
Ellie: nope why?
Hotstuff: need to practice my lines
"She said she needs to practice her lines."
"Wait, let me ask her to come." Jesse proposed as he started typing on her own phone.
A few moments passed and Dina still hadn’t responded to Jesses' text. "Did her phone die or something?"
"Let me try-"
"I doubt that you-"
As soon as Ellie pressed send, Dina instantly responded.
Ellie: meet me outside the school?
Hotstuff: sounds great
"Ok, maybe it’s time for me to just take a hint."
Ellie thought deeply for a moment, remembering the picture of Jesse and Dina. She wondered how they could’ve been so in love once and now they barely even speak to each other. Part of her felt bad because she wasn’t really doing the best job at being Jesse's wing-woman, but maybe she still had time to make up for it. "Jesse, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure shoot."
"How badly do you wanna get back together with Dina?” She asked, deciding that whatever he responded would dictate her next actions.
”Well, I don’t know if she doesn’t want to then I understand but I should at least try, right?"
She went into deep thought once again before officially making up her mind, “Ok, why don’t you practice her lines with her and I’ll get out of your way.”
”Really?”
”Yes. Quick before I change my mind.”
This is the right thing to do, right?
”You’re a lifesaver Ellie."
Ellie was about to leave when she suddenly made eye contact with Dina who perked up at the sight of her. "Hey!"
"Oh…hi."
Her smile instantly turned into a look of confusion when her eyes wandered to where Jesse was standing, "Uh what’s Jesse doing here?"
"Nice to see you too Dina,"
”He knows I’m not here to see him right?"
"How are your auditions going?"
"How do you even know about that?"
"Ellie told me and I-"
"You told him…?" She turned towards Ellie as she crossed over her arms.
"It just came up?" She replied unconvincingly.
"What else have you been telling him?"
"I’m sorry Dina but I really have to go-“
”What? But I need you for my lines.”
”I uh- I have a shift! Joel’s gonna get mad if I don’t go-“
”Why don’t I just come with you? We can go home together anyway-"
”No- that’s not necessary.” She yelled too urgently. “Jesse said he’ll practice with you.”
”He did?” She scoffed whilst raising one eyebrow.
”Yeah a- and I’m sure he’ll be a better scene partner than me considering you know he’s actually a guy so-“
”And you thought it was a good idea to just make this decision for me.”
”No it’s- I felt it’d be best for you to-“
”No no I understand,” Her tone suddenly changed. “You’ve made your feelings very clear,” She continued as she took Jessesʼ hand.
This is what I wanted right? For them to be happy, together. So why is the fact that she’s holding his hand make me feel so gross?
"Have a nice shift, Ellie." Dina echoed monotonously as she dragged Jesse away.
Ellie kept a smile on her face right until they were out of sight and then instantly frowned, wondering why this arrangement was bothering her so much.
—-
"Joel? Are you still here?" Ellie voiced as she entered the store.
"Hey Ellie, it's pretty late, why are you here?”
"I’m doing Jesse a favour and had nowhere else to go.”
”Never thought I’d see the day where you voluntarily came to work-“
”Not in the mood.”
"I guess at this point I should know that you never are."
"I’m just tired ok?"
"But you’re still staying on top of schoolwork?"
”School… right.”
"Have you been going to class recently?”
”Well I went today, that’s all that matters.”
"And how did it go?”
”It was shit, as usual.”
”Oh Ellie don’t be like that, I’m sure you’ll get out of this funk in no time.”
"I’m not in a funk!”
”Then why are you sulking?"
Ellie sank into a chair and groaned.
Joel cautiously sat next to her. "Does this have something to do with the person you were talking about yesterday?"
"Maybe…"
"Did they not appreciate your incredible pun?"
”No no they did, it’s just- we’re in a complicated situation.”
"Try me."
"Well, I think they’re confused. I think they’re just using me as a rebound to make someone else jealous.”
”What makes you say that?"
”Because there’s no way someone like that would ever take interest in me, that just never happens.”
"Never say never, Ellie-“
”You just said it twice.”
"My point is, instead of being so negative and coming up with crazy theories about what Jesse's thinking why don’t you just, ask?”
"Who said anything about Jesse?"
"I hear the way he talks about you…"
"Joel I’m already annoyed right now don’t make it even worse-"
"Ok whoever it is, you need to talk to them-"
"Talk…?"
”Yes, as in a real-life conversation."
”This just shows you know nothing about how this works-“
”Your generation is so obsessed with talking to each other behind screens when you could just be face to face-“
”Man, how old are you? You sound like a senior citizen.”
”Hey watch it now-“ He lightheartedly ruffled her hair.
”Stop that-“ She chuckled as she pushed his hand away.
”There’s that smile I like to see.”
”Ok stop being so corny, but thanks for the advice… I guess."
"No problem, come on kid, I’m gonna lock up-“
”Wait-“ Ellie started, she worried that if she went home now she would probably run into Dina again, "Let me do it instead-“
”You want me to let you lock up?”
”Pfft I’ve watched you do it a million times, how hard could it be?”
”Something smells fishy here-“
”Just accept my offer and get your old ass home before you die-“
”Alright fine just make sure you-“
”Turn off all the lights, put all the food away yeah yeah I know-“
”Ellie-"
"Just trust me just this once?"
"Okay… You be safe-“
”I will, thanks-“
”See you soon-“
”Yep-“
"Bye-“
”Oh my God just leave already!" She pleaded as she began to push his broad figure out the door.
”Ok ok bye for real this time, see you.” Joel examined the room before eventually leaving Ellie alone in the shop.
Ellie went around and turned off all the lights except the one in the kitchen. She sat on one of the tables and listened to music. The dimly lit room made for a perfect atmosphere, allowing her to melt into the melody of her songs. The song was suddenly interrupted by the buzzing of her phone, she picked it up and saw that Dina was calling her. Ellie sighed and waited for the vibrating to stop. There’s no way I can talk to her after today. She lay back on the table and stared up at the ceiling, throwing off her headphones and sitting in silence. There was something peaceful about knowing she was the only one in the bakery; left alone with her own thoughts and the quiet squeaking sound coming from the pipes that Joel never got around to fixing. It was at moments like this that she remembered exactly why she loved living alone.
Just then, she heard a rattling sound break through the hushed atmosphere. It sounded like someone was struggling with the handle of the back door. She instantly shot up and pulled out her phone to call Joel, but of course, it had just died. Fuck. Her heart started to race as she tiptoed off the table and grabbed the first weapon-worthy object in sight, in this case, it was a large rolling pin. She continued to sneak out of the kitchen towards where the sound was coming from, she could see a silhouette behind the door but it was too dark to tell who it was. "Jesse I swear if that’s you trying to prank me-" She shakily muttered through her teeth. She decided to take a leap of faith and slid behind the door, catching her breath. She counted down from 5 in her head before eventually turning the key and swinging the door open. She held the rolling pin above her head, ready to attack but the sound of a shrill shriek stopped her.
“OH MY GOD ELLIE ARE YOU CRAZY.” The silhouette screeched.
"Dina?" Ellie slammed her hand to her heart with relief, "What the fuck?”
”What do you mean what the fuck you just tried to kill me with a rolling pin!”
“Well obviously I didn’t know it was you-“ She lowered the rolling pin and caught her breath, “What the fuck are you doing here sneaking around at this time?”
”Looking for you obviously-“
”And you couldn’t just knock on the front door?”
”I thought this was the front door- I get easily lost okay?”
”Why didn’t you just tell me you were coming?”
”I tried but you didn’t answer my call!”
”Just text me like a sane person!”
"You could’ve just picked up the phone!"
"Could it have occurred to you that I was busy?"
"Yeah right, do you expect me to believe that?"
"I expect you to stop scaring me shitless like that-"
"Okay, okay just relax-“
”How did you even know I was here?"
”Because I knew you would try to avoid me-“
”I’m not avoiding you-"
"So you just came to work at 11 pm because you wanted to?"
"Well no but-"
"You know what let’s just talk about this on the ride home.”
"I guess I don’t have a choice do I?"
”Nope."
As she sat in Dina's car, Ellie wondered how they always ended up bumping into each other no matter how hard she tried to avoid her. Throughout the entire drive, Dina hadn’t said a single word which was extremely unlike her. What was even more out of the ordinary was that this meant that Ellie had to be the one to break the silence.
"So… How was practice with Jesse?”
"It was fine."
”Good, that’s good.”
”Is it really?"
"I mean- I don’t know I guess if you want to get back together with him-“
"How many times do I have to tell you I don’t.”
"Oh… Well even if you did-“
”You’re infuriating.”
"Are you mad at me?"
"Took you long enough to figure that one out.”
”What did I do?"
"Must I spell out everything for you? You trapping me with Jesse like that earlier- not cool.“
”I thought you guys were still friends-"
"Yeah, but I thought you knew better than that-"
”Better than what Dina I just had to go to a shift-“
”Ok and now you think I’m stupid?-“
”What are you talking about?”
"If you didn’t want to spend time with me-“
”When did I ever say that?"
”Well ditching me to go to an imaginary shift kind of implies that-"
"Well that’s not true-“ She blurted without thinking.
"It’s not?”
"No-"
"So you can honestly sit here and say that Jesse didn’t put you up to this-"
"Ok just let me explain-"
"I can’t fucking believe this."
"It’s not what you think-"
"Great so Jesse didn’t tell you to become friends with me so that he could figure out how to get back together with me?"
"Ok, I guess it’s exactly what you think…"
"I can't believe you just ditched me like that today."
"Dina, it wasn’t anything personal, I just thought that Jesse would be a better scene partner.”
”Well he wasn’t, no offence to Jesse but he can’t act for shit- I wanted to do it with you."
"You… did?"
"Yes. But do you know how stupid it makes me feel to find out that the one person I thought I was actually becoming friends with was secretly doing dirty work for my ex?"
"This isn’t dirty work! At least not anymore-"
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
"Look I don’t know what you want me to say, I was just trying to help out a friend-"
"I thought I was your friend too, you’re the one who told me to break up with him-"
"I never claimed to be an expert, I don’t get why you’re so mad at me-"
"Because I trust you Ellie- I'm not asking you to choose between me and Jesse like we’re a divorced couple- I just want you to treat this friendship like it’s real-"
"I didn’t know that you cared, you have like a million other friends."
"And yet every day I only ever think about you."
"As if that could ever be true."
"Why are you making this so complicated?"
"Look, I don’t know… I thought-“
”Well stop thinking for just a second and be honest, do you want to spend time with me?”
”Well it’s-“
”Yes or no Ellie.”
”Yes.”
”Great, same so what’s the issue here?”
"I guess there isn’t one?"
”Exactly, so stop acting weird and stop reporting everything I say to Jesse. Let's just be Ellie and Dina."
"You’re right, I’m sorry," She apologised whilst looking at Dina's side profile, "But for the record, I didn’t know going into it that I would end up actually wanting to be your friend-"
Dina didn’t respond immediately, which made Ellie feel even more guilty. "Can you say something…?"
"That’s just ridiculous-"
"What is?"
"How did you not know you would want to be my friend? Everyone wants to be my friend."
"You know what, can you go back to being mad at me? I think cocky Dina’s worse.”
"Watch what you say, I still haven’t completely forgiven you."
"Ok, what can I do to make it up to you?"
"I’m too mad to think of anything right now."
"Yeah, I can tell by the vein popping out of your forehead.”
Dina shot a glare at Ellie, completely unamused.
"Sorry, I don’t know why I said that." She responded sincerely, "But seriously you’re really scary when you’re angry,"
"Then don’t get on my bad side and we won’t have a problem.” She smiled.
Ok, noted.
——
Ellie stepped into her apartment, feeling strangely relieved. She wasn’t sure if it was because she had escaped Dina's wrath or because she had finally admitted to herself that she liked having Dina around. For now, she stuck with the former and dove into her bed. Then, she heard her phone ring.
”Uh hello?”
”Hey it’s Dina!”
”I know, but why are you calling me? I saw you less than 10 minutes ago."
”I just wanted to make sure you would answer this time-"
”I answered so- is that all?”
“Wait- I also had a very fun idea that I wanna run you by.”
”Okay…"
”Now before you say no-"
”This doesn’t sound good-"
”Just hear me out.”
“I’m listening."
”I was wondering if you’re free this weekend?”
”Uh I might be why?”
”Do you maybe wanna…go out?”
”Go out where?"
"To this bar-"
"With who?"
"Me, obviously."
Oh.
"I mean not just me- I usually go to this bar with my friends on the weekend and I was wondering-"
"No way."
"Come on, if you come I’ll forgive you for stabbing me in the back-"
"I’d rather you just be mad at me-"
”I promise I won’t make you do anything crazy-“
”Dina I won’t even know your friends you’re all upperclassmen-“
”Then I promise to stay by your side the whole night.”
”What if none of them like me?"
"Why would anyone not like you, you’re the most likeable person I know-"
"Okay now you’re just bullshitting”
"Who cares if they like you, I like you, isn’t that enough?"
"No actually-"
”Stop trying to poke holes in my plans and just say yes.”
”Do I have to dress up?”
”Wear whatever you want-“
"But didn’t we just agree that you wouldn’t drink so much?"
”I’ll be on my best behaviour I swear I just feel like I won’t survive if you’re not there!”
”Didn’t you just say you go out every weekend?"
”Yeah and I had to be black-out drunk to even slightly enjoy it but now I have you-“
”So I’m a replacement for alcohol.”
”I didn’t hear you say no…”
An official night out with Dina? I guess it’s the least I could do. ”Ok fine-“
”YESSS.”
”But on one condition, I get to leave whenever I want to-“
”You get to leave after at least 2 hours-“
"45 minutes-"
"Ellie that’s absurd-"
"1 hour, final offer-"
"Ok deal, I’ll just make sure the night is worth staying for-"
“I’d like to see you try.”
"Pfft as if I’ll have to try."
"Whatever, see you tomorrow I guess."
”See you tomorrow night, don’t be late.”
