The Bella’s house was unusually quiet as Kate, Emily to the Bellas, slowly opened her door. She had been studying for an upcoming exam and asked the Bella’s not to bother her, but she didn’t intend on them being this quiet.
Had they left? No, they wouldn’t leave, tonight is movie night and no one ever misses out on movie night. Kate had learned that the hard way when she missed it to do a mission report for Clint.
That’s what had her scared. Currently Kate was on an undercover mission. Apparently some students had gotten their hands on some alien tech and were selling it under the guise of being a school club. So, Kate was instructed to infiltrate the school and join a club with members associated with the other club. The Barden Bellas had both overlap in member association and it played to her own strengths, making it an easy strategy. She never expected to actually enjoy being a Bella. But she does, she really does.
she knew all of these girls and their personalities, which is why the silence was shocking to her.
Fearing the worst, she crept down the stairs and immediately searched for one of the many weapons she had stashed. Once she became a permanent member of the Bellas, she knew she had to protect the house. Thus, she stashed multiple knives, bows, and arrows around the house for easy access.
As she entered the living room, she saw what she had in fact feared. The Bellas sat in stunned silence, movie paused on the tv, with a masked figure looming over them.
Chloe looked up from her position protecting Beca and locked eyes with Kate. She and the rest of the Bellas looked hopeless and they had a right to, to them there was no one to protect them. But little did they know, Kate could.
Before the attacker could even register Chloe’s gaze on Kate and turn around, Kate grabbed a hidden collapsible bow, extended it, and drew an arrow.
The intruder slowly turned around, face covered by an indiscernible mask.
”Leave or I put it between your eyes.” Kate warned, glaring down as the masked assailant.
The intruder said nothing. They reached up, causing alarm, but before Kate could react, the mask was gone.
”Yelena?” Kate gasped, dropping the bow to her side. “Fuck I could’ve killed you.”
”Not before I killed you Kate Bishop.” The Russian grinned. “I’m way to talented than that.”
Kate dropped the bow completely and pulled Yelena up into a searing kiss. “You’re infuriating.” Kate groaned, between kisses.
Yelena wrapped her arms around the taller girl’s neck. She had missed her Kate Bishop and was worried that she had fallen into trouble, but here she was.
Someone cleared their throat and the pair pulled away. Kate dropped her hands from Yelena’s collar, but the blonde kept her arms around Kate’s neck.
”Yeah, I’m all for the gayness of this moment, but I think I speak for all of us when I say: what the actual fuck.” Fat Amy spoke up, voicing the confusion of the other Bellas.
Beca removed herself from Chloe’s arms with a huff.”Dude this girl tried to kill us and your solution is to make out with her?”
”Also why the hell was there a badass bow under our table and arrows in the plant next to it?” Chloe added onto her girlfriend’s question.
Kate groaned and dropped her head into Yelena’s shoulder. She really didn’t want to explain all this. She was so close to completing the mission and explaining this would only break her cover. All of the Bellas checked out of course, she had Maria run a SHIELD level background check and Clint run a superspy level background check on each, but one of them was a member of the organization she was trying to take down. Although that member, Denise, wasn’t here. She was at a meeting for said organization. She could potentially tell the cleared Bellas.
”Legacy?” Fat Amy pushed. “You gonna explain yourself?”
Kate felt Yelena chuckle from her spot tucked into the crook of the blonde’s neck.
”Fuck you, Lena.” Kate sighed, removing herself from her lover to face the Bella’s.
Yelena winked at the younger girl. “Maybe later Malen’kiy Yastreb.”
Kate blushed at the nickname, but ignored Yelena’s comment in favor of explaining herself to the Bellas. Yelena, in true Yelena fashion, made herself at home but snooping around.
Kate fell to the couch with a grunt, kicking her discarded bow and arrow to the side. She buried her head in her hands, dreading this conversation.
The Bella’s took that as a sign to find their own places to sit and to just hear Kate out.
”I’m an Avenger.” Kate mumbled, prepared to be made fun of. Yelena, though snooping, kept an eye on the conversation.
Ever the nurturer, Chloe sat down next to the youngest Bella. “Tell us what’s going on.”
Kate picked up her head and realized the Bellas weren’t laughing, they were listening. That encouraged her to go on.
“I’m Hawkeye.” She said more confidently. In the kitchen, Yelena smiled. “My real name is Kate Bishop and I’m here undercover for a mission. I can’t tell you the details of that because it could endanger you.”
”We just had a gun pulled on us.” Beca pointed out. “I think we’re already in danger.”
”So was that make out session like a diversion or like a superhero tactic?” Stacie asked with a wild grin. “Because if so, then sign me up.”
”No, it’s not a tactic, not a formal tactic at least.” Kate was quick to correct. “And you guys weren’t in any danger. Yelena is my girlfriend.” She declared.
”Hell yeah she is, welcome to the dark side Legacy.” Cynthia Rose jumped in. It was then that Kate realized she had never come out to the Bellas. They were all accepting, especially Cynthia Rose, Chloe, and Beca. She just never got to it.
”Oh yeah, I’m bisexual.” Kate shrugged as if it was no big deal. “But I’m pretty sure Lena is it for me.”
”I better be.” Yelena appeared, jumping onto the couch next to her girlfriend and cuddling up next to her.
”See, she’s a teddy bear.” Kate laughed, earning a glare from Yelena that held no real malice. “Lena is very protective and was looking for me. The mission I’m working, which I’m almost done with might I add, is more involved in student life. I’m just seconds away from blowing their operation.”
Kate hadn’t noticed, but Yelena was looking up at her with such admiration and pride. It was as if Kate had hung the moon and the stars for the assassin.
”So, we’re safe and you’re a badass?” Beca clarified for the group. Kate nodded and finally relaxed. That wasn’t so bad.
”I wouldn’t say completely safe.” Yelena piped up and the tension returned to Kate’s body. “If you tell anyone about my Kate Bishop’s secret, I will hunt you down and slit your throat.”
Kate’s eyes widened as she watched the Bella’s faces drop to complete terror. They nodded, eyes never leaving Yelena’s.
”Yelena, don’t do that.” Kate chastised. Yelena chuckled and leaned against her lover. “Look, she won’t do that. I won’t let her. But please don’t tell anyone, I’ve made some enemies and I don’t need them knowing where I am.”
”Our lips are sealed.” Chloe promised, pretending to zip her lips for good measure.
Kate couldn’t be happier. She finally felt relaxed for the first time in months. The mission was almost over, Yelena was here, and she no longer had to hide from her new group of friends. She felt like she was on cloud nine.
”So, what are we watching?” Yelena asked after a few moments of quiet processing. She seemed to fit right in, besides the full tactical suit.
Before a Bella could answer her question, Kate got up off the couch and grabbed Yelena’s wrist. “Before we join movie night, let’s get you into some clothes that don’t hold a million weapons.”
”Oh Kate Bishop, you are too funny.” And she was in fact too funny, because Yelena was always carrying something.
As the two made their way to the stairs, they heard a few whistles and a “Get it Legacy!” from Cynthia Rose.
They didn’t make it back downstairs.
