Prologue
King T’chaka and Queen Ramonda had a grand total of three children.
Shuri, the genius inventor.
T’challa, the great leader.
And Amaka, the strong fighter.
While Amaka’s older brother took on the mantle of Black Panther, Amaka took on a more quiet role.
Some people asked her ‘if you’re a better fighter than your brother, then why is he the Black Panther?’.
Frankly, the question always annoyed her.
While true, she was a slightly better fighter than T’challa, that wasn’t what the Black Panther was about. The Black Panther was the protector of Wakanda. Yes, that required a great warrior, but that also required a great leader. Someone who was diplomatic, calm, level-headed, and selfless. Someone who consistently makes the right calls not only for themselves, but for the people around them. Being an amazing fighter was probably #2 on the list of things needed to be the Black Panther.
While T’challa fit the description of the Black Panther perfectly, Amaka did not. That’s why she became the Black Cat.
The Black Panther was the protector of Wakanda.
The Black Cat was the warrior of Wakanda.
At 17 years old, Amaka reached Wakandan legal age. And at 17 years old, Amaka started going on her field missions. Nothing extreme though, she was only really gone for a couple months at a time. Still, she did good work. Which is why she wasn’t surprised when she was assigned to this mission in particular.
“As you know,” her father started, “the Avengers had a recent encounter with Klaue and his vibranium. Though we don’t believe it is a problem as of now, it would be beneficial to Wakanda if we can be certain about what the Avengers know about us.”
“Which is why I'm going undercover to infiltrate the Avengers”, she replied.
“Yes. We have intel about a young boy,” Okoye handed her the file, “who has grown close with the Avengers. Since we know that a connection such as this is possible, we want you to use it to befriend the Avengers”
Amaka looked down at the file, it read:
Peter B. Parker.
Age: 16
Height: 5’10
After skimming through the file, she found that he was a Junior at a school called Midtown. He went to Stark Tower three times a week, and after close inspection from a Wakandan operative, was seen in public with Avengers like Black Widow, Captain America, and Iron Man. Their interactions indicated a personal relationship, though exactly how it could have happened baffled Amaka.
“You’re wondering how this could have happened?”
Amaka smirked, somehow, even at 19, her father managed to read her expression so accurately.
“We had our operative tail him. It took months, but one day she saw him duck into an alley and emerge as Spider-man”
“That new New York vigilante, no?”
Her father just nodded.
After careful consideration, Amaka finally spoke
“When do I go?”
