Detailed Chapter Breakdowns
Last Updated: November 20, 2023.
Featured Characters: Harry Osborn, Tony Stark, Norman Osborn, Peter Parker
Tony is working through his childhood trauma by projecting his issues onto Norman and Harry. Publicly, Tony maintains a ‘friendly rivalry’ with Norman Osborn as they frequent many of the same social circles and interact semi-regularly. Then Tony goes home and informs Harry of how ‘unaffected’ Norman is by Harry’s disappearance because he appears to have ‘moved on’ and acts as though Harry’s existence never even mattered. Harry is never entirely convinced of this as he clings to faded memories of private conversations where Norman said that he loved him, that he was proud of him for good behavior, and tucked him into bed whenever he was able to get home from work on time.
Leading up to Harry’s abduction, Norman Osborn wasn't going to win Father of the Year, but he was doing his best to love, protect, and provide a good future for his son. Norman is devastated by his son’s disappearance, despite outwardly keeping his composure. He’s never able to emotionally recover from the loss and only grieves in private by himself or with his closest friend, J. Jonah Jameson. A decade after Harry’s disappearance, Norman is still willing to do anything to get his little boy back, including infantilizing a now adult Harry.
*there will be an explicit Harry/Peter scene, but I haven’t posted it yet because so far the draft is just so embarrassing.
Additional Characters: J. Jonah Jameson, Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan, Rhodey, Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, Bucky, Sam Wilson, Clint Barton, and possibly Mac Gargan as Norman’s PI, maybe more minor characters will make some small appearance…
Shirley Temple
Featuring: Tony, Harry, Norman
Tony first meets Harry when Norman brings him to an event (the type of event is unspecified, but it’s implied to be a multi-day convention of some sort). While children are not banned from attendance, Harry is the youngest person there. Tony is bored of flirting with beautiful women, as he finds messing with Norman Osborn to be far more entertaining and it’s easy to rile him up by encouraging little Harry to misbehave. Harry enjoys the attention and skirts the line of what might get him into trouble.
One Bed
Featuring: Harry, Norman
Norman and Harry stay overnight in a hotel room with a single bed. They have some quiet alone time to process the events of the day. Norman praises Harry for being well behaved and Harry promises to remain on his best behavior. Norman hugs and cuddles Harry. They both say ‘I love you.’ As Harry falls asleep, Norman thinks about how he’s a bad parent because he’s too openly affectionate with Harry.
This is a very important display of Norman and Harry’s family dynamic before Harry is abducted.
Day Before the Abduction
Featuring: Harry, Norman, Tony, a random woman
Good Boy
Harry is left alone for a large chunk of the day and he is very well behaved:.
Ice Cream
Norman is making good on his promise to get Harry ice cream and they run into Tony when they’re walking through the hotel lobby. Tony wants to accompany them along with a random woman he was flirting with.
At the Ice Cream Shoppe
Still needs to be written. Tony is going to discreetly suggest that Norman and the woman participate in a threesome while Happy Hogan babysits Harry. Norman turns this down, acts disgusted, but he keeps the slip of paper that Tony gives him with his cell number.
Abducted
Featuring: Tony, Harry, Norman
This chapter is undergoing a lot of revision as these scenes are incredibly important to form the whole basis of the plot.
Goodbye
Harry’s final interaction with Norman on the day that Harry is abducted.
McBreakfast
Harry calls Tony because he’s bored. Tony lures him outside. Tony takes him to McDonalds for breakfast.
Freeway
They get onto the freeway and keep going and it takes a while for Harry to figure something was wrong, because when are they gonna turn around? Dad’s gonna get worried. Dad’s gonna get angry. Tony, we need to go back now.
Empty Hotel Room
Featuring: Norman, Harry, hotel security
The day that Harry is abducted, from Norman’s perspective.
Norman returns to the hotel room and Harry is gone. Panic. Anger. He goes to hotel security, they help him check surveillance footage and call the police.
Malibu
Featuring: Tony, Harry
Early Draft Stage.
Tony and Harry arrive in Tony’s mansion in Malibu. Harry is impressed by how extremely massive the whole thing is. There’s plenty of room to roam. But also, the security system is able to keep Harry locked in and that’s a little terrifying.
Harrison
Featuring: Tony, Harry
This needs some major revision, because I’m not satisfied with Steve as Harry’s new first name. And also there needs to be more drama and context for the circumstances in which this conversation takes place.
Harry is struggling to adjust to his new life and Tony is forcing him to choose a new name.
I’m not particularly happy with any of the names I brainstormed, except for Harrison as a middle name.
Tony wanted Harry to give up being called any variation of Harry, but he relents when Harry says that he’ll start calling Tony Dad.
Escape Attempt
Featuring: Harry, Tony
Draft needs more context added around when this happens.
Harry attempts to escape. Tony tracks him down before he gets too far and brings the boy back to the Malibu mansion. They have a nice heart to heart that is also vaguely threatening and reinforces the feeling that Harry is trapped and he’ll never get any of his old life back, he practically has to beg to even be given access to pictures of Norman.
Pepper Potts
Featuring: Pepper, Tony, Harry
Draft needs more context to decide exactly when this fits in the timeline and the state of Harry’s relationship with Tony.
Pepper discovers Harry in Tony’s workshop. Tony tells Pepper that Harry’s mother is dead and informs her that he is taking custody of Harry while trying to keep the kid’s existence secret. All the while implying that Harry is his bastard.
There is a minor subplot revolving around Pepper and Tony having unexpressed feelings for each other.
DNA
Featuring: Tony
Unwritten. I really want a chapter to deal with Tony’s perspective of what he needs to do to try and stay out of trouble.
Tony is regretting his decision, but he decides he can’t/won’t let Harry go home to Norman, because he’s already in too deep. Tony infiltrates Federal DNA Databases to alter DNA records and help prevent Harry from ever being identified.
Tony seriously considers replacing the DNA on file with an actual deceased child to fake Harry’s death. Ultimately he deems it too risky, because he wouldn’t be able to fully control the investigation that would take place. After dismissing the idea, he’s disgusted with himself for even thinking about disturbing the remains of a dead child just to try and cover his own tracks.
Besides, he decides, it’s better to leave Norman in a state of perpetual suspense.
Afghanistan
Featuring: Tony
Unwritten. This would be very difficult for me to write, and I’m just not sure how to even begin approaching this mess.
Tony goes missing in Afghanistan. Harry is freaked out, Pepper and Happy don’t know what to do with him. / Tony is in the cave fighting for his life. He thinks of what a massive fuck-up he is, worries that he’s a terrible person who has made everyone’s lives more miserable, including Harry’s.
Iron Man
Featuring: Tony
Unwritten. I’m not really interested in writing all the character development that comes along with Tony becoming Iron Man. Just imagining that Tony has Harry with him in his mansion and sometimes Harry helps, but Tony is responsible enough to keep the kid out of immediate danger when he’s testing the weapons and flight capability.
If I was better at writing Tony, then maybe I’d do a few scenes to demonstrate how Harry is along for the ride, watching and helping Tony whenever he can. Harry might drag Tony to bed and crawl in with him to sleep next to Tony and help with the nightmares. Or Harry falls asleep in some corner of Tony’s workshop.
SHIELD
Featuring: Tony, Harry, Coulson, Natasha, SHIELD Agents, whatever
There’s not much here. Really just the beginning of an idea of how this could go down.
SHIELD becomes involved in Tony’s life. The agents won’t confirm whether or not they know Harry’s true identity, but they do know that Tony doesn’t have legal custody over Harry. Tony makes a deal with them to create fake paperwork and pretend that Harry was his son all along.
Somewhere along the line, Harry is interviewed by one or more agents while they try to determine the exact nature of Harry’s relationship with Tony and whether or not Tony has been abusing Harry. It’s unclear whether or not they would actually try to help Harry if he were being abused or if they’d still cut a deal with Tony and allow him to keep Harry. Through this interrogation they determine that Harry is fairly well-adjusted and emotionally attached to Tony, so they will allow Harry to interact with the outside world.
But before dismissing Harry, one of the agents has a private conversation where he warns Harry that very bad things will happen if Harry ever tells anyone that he was abducted or contradicts the story they’ve constructed for his new identity.
Avengers
Featuring: Harry, Tony, Natasha, other Avengers, etc.
Unwritten. This seems like a lot of work to try and adequately cover. It’s probably better off leaving this up to the reader’s imagination.
Harry is able to meet and befriend some of the Avengers. Several of them tease Tony by simultaneously complimenting Harry and denying that there is any family resemblance.
Natasha senses something is wrong and takes Harry aside for a private conversation. Harry confesses to her how scared he is, because Tony almost died during the battle of New York. Tony’s been in some dangerous situations before, but this time the scale of destruction was so massive that Harry could scarcely comprehend what had happened, particularly confused by the involvement of Norse Gods and aliens.
Natasha reassures Harry that she and the other Avengers will always have Tony’s back. They’re a team. She along with several other Avengers take up part-time residence in Avengers tower and they all treat Harry like extended family.
Bittersweet Sixteen
Featuring: Norman Osborn
Draft with plenty of room for improvement as I think I’ve changed some pretty significant details since originally writing this.
Norman is alone with his grief as he celebrates Harry’s sixteenth birthday.
Spider-Man
Featuring: Harry, Peter
Unwritten. I’d love to find a fun way to cover this, but it is a lot of work and would probably need to be broken up into more than one chapter.
Harry moves into a dorm with Peter Parker. Harry immediately develops a crush on his roommate. Just two weeks into their living arrangement, Harry discovers that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Harry hates the fact that Peter is a superhero and decides to play dumb, pretending not to know about Peter’s alter ego. He wonders what strings Tony must’ve pulled to put Harry in this position.
(Tony didn’t pull any strings. None of the Avengers know Spider-Man’s secret identity.)
*as a note: this version of Peter is different from the MCU. He doesn’t hero worship Iron Man or the Avengers. He hasn’t made any attempt to join them. He admires Stark tech, but doesn’t trust the brilliant mind behind it.
Benjamin Parker didn’t raise Peter to trust billionaire playboys and their ‘philanthropy.’
At this point in Spider-Man’s superhero career, most of the criminals he’s dealt with have been connected to the Kingpin (who he’s discovered is the well known philanthropist Wilson Fisk and Peter has seen Tony Stark shake hands with Wilson Fisk at charity events). The Avengers don’t concern themselves much with street level crime, so Spider-Man rarely crosses paths with them anyway.
Guilt
Featuring: Harry, Norman
Harry watched a documentary that heavily featured missing children and their distraught families. Harry feels guilt over never reaching out to Norman. He reflects on how horrible Norman might feel. Wonders if Norman misses him. Harry decides to use a computer that isn’t connected to JARVIS so that he can look up information about his own kidnapping without Tony’s AI filtering the results.
The Phone Call
Featuring: Harry, Norman
Overcome by guilt, Harry makes the phone call.
After the Call
Featuring: Norman, Jameson
Norman’s reaction after the call. Talking to J. Jonah Jameson.
Parksborn
Featuring: Harry, Peter
Mature Content Warning : Sex
After The Phone Call, Harry is freaking out that he’s made a huge mistake. Peter gets home, apparently injured. Harry helps patch him up, they talk, and they hook up.
Parksborn - Next Morning
Featuring: Harry, Peter
Later That Day / Dinner
They started talking about Harry’s Daddy Issues, and then Harry eventually deflected by bringing up the fact that Peter is Spider-Man.
Follow-up Text Messages
Featuring: Harry, Peter, Norman
Harry sends more messages to Norman
Confession
Harry confesses to Peter that Tony kidnapped him when he was a child.
More Follow Up
Harry received some messages from Norman. He schedules his response to be sent in the morning. Peter comes in and comforts him. Peter says that he thinks Harry is doing the right thing. Then Peter confesses that he loves Harry and will be there for him no matter what happens. Peter is invited to stay and go to bed with him. (Sex might be implied)
Next Day
Featuring: Harry, Peter, Norman
Norman’s POV
Norman receives the scheduled text messages the next morning.
Harry’s POV
Harry wakes up in bed with Peter.
Harry receives a response from Norman.
Oscorp
Featuring: Harry, Peter, random Oscorp employee.
Harry has a chance to think about what Norman said about wanting evidence. Norman’s not going to just take him at his word. Of course not. There are probably plenty of people out there that would have a motive to lie, because Norman is a very wealthy man. Harry still has mixed feelings about whether or not he owes the truth to Norman. What is the ‘right’ thing to do in this circumstance? Harry doesn’t know.
But then perhaps there’s an opportunity for several students to make a trip to go to Oscorp for… reasons. And Harry decides to tag along ??
Harry asks Peter to deliver the DNA sample to Oscorp.
Harry’s Birthday Party
Featured Characters: Harry, Peter, Tony, Pepper, Steve, Bucky, Sam, Clint, Natasha
That Morning
Harry’s birthday is not great. It starts with Peter making breakfast and promises to come to his birthday party at Stark/Avengers Tower.
The Party
Peter is running late, because Spider-Man got involved in a little dust up with Bucky, Sam, and some illegal weapons deal.
Some Harry/Peter moments, their relationship is running into some problems.
That Night
They go home. Harry is mad at Peter.
Harry texts with Norman and comes out as gay and having a relationship with Spider-Man.
Then Harry and Peter have a chat.
Norman Captures Harry
Featuring: Norman, his co-conspirators, Harry?
I need to majorly rewrite this draft since I’ve decided to make some changes to the way I build up to it. Norman needs to make plans that account for Harry having a GPS tracking device embedded under his skin. It needs to be quickly removed and/or the signal blocked.
Norman needs to time this so that neither Tony or any of the most powerful Avengers are in close enough proximity to intervene. They might be away on a mission, vacation or just otherwise occupied.
Norman also takes into account that Spider-Man needs to be distracted. Luckily, Norman knows that Peter Parker works for the Bugle and he can suggest that Jameson send the freelance photographer some work or a lead on some organized criminal activity.
Norman’s hired PI, Mac Gargan, might be involved in this scheme.
A Father-Son Chat
Featuring: Norman, Harry
I need to majorly rewrite this draft since I’ve decided to make some changes to the way I build up to it.
Norman is actively being threatening towards Harry as he holds him captive.
Breakfast
Featuring: Norman, Harry
Norman and Harry have breakfast together.
Welcome Home
Featuring: Norman, Harry
Norman brings Harry home, wanting Harry to stay in the penthouse with him, in the bedroom where Norman kept all of Harry’s old things.
Front Page News
Featuring: Norman, J. Jonah Jameson
I might have to make some major changes, because depending on how things go with Norman abducting Harry… telling Jonah about the crimes might be a big mistake.
Norman brings the news to J. Jonah Jameson. He wants the Daily Bugle to be the first paper to get the scoop. Tony Stark is exposed for abducting a child. Norman’s child.
Jameson expresses concern when Norman admits that he’s holding Harry prisoner against his will. Norman explains why he has to do this, for Harry’s safety.
Jameson wants to consult with a lawyer. He reminds Norman that Harry is an adult. This isn’t going to be a simple matter, getting custody of Harry is complicated. If Harry is as healthy and well adjusted as he appears to be, then he is going to be free to make his own decisions. Norman can’t force Harry to be a part of his life.
Avenger’s Meeting
Featuring: Tony, Pepper, Natasha, etc.
Extremely Rough Draft that will probably need a lot of changes.
They know Harry’s disappearance is somehow linked to Oscorp. They request Norman’s help. Things don’t go well.
Alternatively, I should probably replace it with something along the lines of:
They all suspect that Norman Osborn has abducted Harry. They don’t understand Norman’s motive.
Tony confesses to his teammates. He tells them what he did. That he stole Harry from Norman. SHIELD participated in the cover up, forging documents. He’s not sure how Norman found out about it.
There are mixed feelings all around.
Sleep Next to Me
WARNING: this is the point at which some father/son incest takes place. I’m maybe thinking about moving the content of these chapters into a second story, a sequel that I would probably title, Norman Steals Harry Back: How Norman Osborn Becomes a Terrible Dad.
Featuring: Norman, Harry
Norman gives Harry a sedative and makes Harry sleep in his bed.
Red Room
Featuring: Norman, Harry
The next night, Norman wants to sedate Harry and make him sleep in his bed again. Harry does not want either of those things. Norman shows Harry a room with the threat of locking him inside. Things get intense. Norman reveals that he wants to have sex with Harry. Harry is disgusted by this. Norman gets very forceful and frightens Harry so much that Harry agrees to take a strong sedative and sleep in Norman’s bed again. There’s some non consensual touching/groping and the implied threat that more might happen while Harry is unconscious.
Morning Apologies
Featuring: Norman, Harry
Harry wakes up and Norman immediately pulls Harry into his lap. Norman is overly affectionate, only to suddenly become aggressive when Harry rejects him.
[Still need to write Norman’s attempts to apologize]
Rescue Attempt
Featuring: J. Jonah Jameson, Peter, Harry, Norman
Peter goes to Jameson for help. Jameson tells Peter where to send Spider-Man to save Harry. Spider-Man breaks into Norman’s home and attempts to save Harry. The attempt fails because Norman had a boobytrap.
Interrogation
Featuring: Norman, Peter
Norman interrogates Peter about his intentions. He reveals that he already knew who Peter Parker is and that Peter is Spider-Man. He keeps Peter prisoner for the time being.
Seduction
Featuring: Norman, Harry
Norman tells Harry about Peter. Norman seduces Harry in the shower.
