Ficlet Kurtty

A homage to noir aus I made and was inspired by Djnmier4. I did a drabble one where reincarnation is a scientific fact....let's see if the magic strikes again.

Kitty Pryde, fresh out of her birthday, was sent to the hospital for food poison. Nothing tragic or life threating, apparently a food she eat wasn't in the best conditions but as Dr. Strange promised...she is out of any danger.

Terry is present and near her daughter. Kitty wants to be charge out of the hospital. But is hard to ignore Dr. Strange.

The man's expression is thoughtful, deep in thinking and is not a face one would assume is linked to giod news. "Dr. Stranger? Is everything ok?" Terry asked preparing to hear some bad news.

"While we were attending Kitty, we found out she....is a reincarnated" Dr. Stranger is not well-equipped to deal with the emotional side of such news, but he promises to himself to try.

"A...reincarnated?" Terry asked as Kitty is processing this information. Reincarnation, much to the church's dismay, is real. Science can prove the existence of a soul but not provide a full understanding. Maybe that is the point.

Dr. Strange nods. "A quick blood exam reveals Kitty's soul used to exost prior to this existence, and if Miss Pryde give us her consentiment...we can do one more test to figure out who she was" the doctor waits for Kitty's response.

Kitty, for the moment, is shock. Searching in her brain any signal of such fact. Reincarnations are common, but is a process hard to understand...

What if I was a serial killer? What would this mean? 

"If I don't know...I will go crazy" Kitty responds already feeling tired. "I want to know, curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought her back" a cheesy line to say. It feels appropriate.

The test took 30 minutes tops.

Dr. Stranger shows up with the results. Before opening, Kitty asked if any reincarnated was a criminal in the past, what would this mean to the law?

"Can't disclose the name, for obvious reasons. A person was reincarnated and such person was a killer, however, the person was so ashamed of such acts...it make a point in redemption. The reincarnation wasn't a reward, but a punishment" explains the doctor.

Kitty looks at her mother. Mom...hope I wasn't a bad person in the past.

Slowly, she opens the document- Dr. Strange makes no intention to break her privacy- and reads the name and a relief sets on her soul. Not a killer.

"My name was Kate Pryce...apparently, I was a heiress?" there's amusement as well indignation on her voice. Well, it is bettet than be a killer or some criminal.

"Wait...Pryce? Like the Pryce's food supply?" Terry laughs, not sure if is the appropriate response, because Kitty Pryde wanted to eat their food and got food poison because...there was no Pryce food.

Kitty is still shock. I was rich?! 

The documents provide a huge help for Kitty. Kate was, as Kitty can see, a heiress and was engaved to a man called Kurt Wagner. A german doctor that works on the US- he is really good on his job, no one can deny this- and was off the guilt list for Kate's death.

Kitty never liked restautants. Orefering fast foods or unconventional places to eat, now, she can understand why. 

Kate Pryce was shot down, in cold blood, by a jealous ex. The man was caught and serves his sentence forever.

"So..let me get this straight" Tabitha's voice is on Kitty's Iphone. The woman has perched down on the driver's sit to watch Dr. Wagner's house. "You're stalking?"

"What? No, I just want to see if he is, you know, fine. If he moves on. I don't want to appear in his house and see him marry with someone else" Kitty explains as so far no signal of Dr. Wagner.

He lives in such nice prestigious neighbhood. 

"Kitty...this is stalking!" Tabitha admonished.

"Ok, maybe...I just don't know what to do" Kitty can recall cases where the wife left the husband to be with her reincarnated lover. Can't forget how the kids were super confused to see their mom dating a collegue student.

"Look, you are here for hours...how can you know he is not, don't know, on vacations or just a huge introvert?" Those are good points, Kitty concedes, all she has is his address, not if he is present at home.

Except, his window- his house has 2 floors, the open window is from the second floor- showing the good doctor. Wow 20 years were kinder to you.

"Saw him just now" Kitty answers to Tabitha. And if she was judgemental about the stalking, well, now is completely forget.

"Oh, is he handsome or...Guardian of the Crypto scenario?"

"Oh he is handsome, the years have been kind to him...at least in this regard" Kitty replies. It hits her how her car is not well suit to go incognito, but Dr. Wagner seems to not care.

Actually, Kitty couldn't see much of his face. The idea is to get a quick glimpse of his life and if he is marry she would drift away. Not a homewreck.

Someone knocks on her window causing Kitty to jump, for a moment she thought it was her(ex?) fiance. Thankfully, is just a blonde woman, wearing diamonds earrings and white.

Why am I thinking she would wear white on her period days?

Kitty rolls her window down. The woman's frown is replaced by a surprise, but only for a moment, hey, look alikes are still a thing.

"Hey, peep tom, better give me a good reason to not call the cops" Emma has the cellphone in hand. ",saw you across the street, are you one of Dr. Wagner's wierd fans?"

Kitty shakes her head. "I'm Kate Pryce" and before the woman accuse her of using a dead person to get away with a crime- also happened before, sadly- she shows the documents to proof.

The woman let the cellphone drop.

Tabitha is on the line still. "Kitty? Are you still going to jail?"

Kate Pryce has the bluest eyes one can imagine. Her photos prove that.

Kitty Pryde has brown eyes, yet the shape of her eyes is identical to Kate. Wow, small details that blow my mind away.

The Pryce, in terms of wealth, are bellow the Starks and Ororo Monroe- as well, kings such Victoor Doom or King T'Challa- and sure, much bellow at Xaviers, yet, the Pryce are a wealthy family.

And jewish...a part of my identity remains, I....really feel like I could cry. 

Kate's parents passed away a long time ago, only one relative is alive, Dr. Moira Mcnugget, a Scottish woman who was called right away to meet her "cousin"

Same soul. Different DNA.

Terry and some of her friends are present, in the old Pryce's household- the stark contrast of Kitty and her companion's attire to the house is very noticeable- Moira was, at first, ready to deny such claims. 

A rich family like them had their fair share of conmen. However, as soon Moira saw Kitty....any doubt is gone.

"Oh my god...is really you!" Moira could cry. "Emma wasn't lying..."

The first thing Moira did, once she can see real evidence of Kitty's claims for formality sake, is to call her son, David who is a lawyer to help assort the situation.

"Legally speaking, auntie" David begins. "You are the reincarnatin of Kate Pryce, meaning you have acess to the bank account of the Pryce as well have a fair share on their bussiness"

Kitty has 20 years and barely finished collegue.

A man who has 24 years old calls her auntie and saus she is very much rich. Ok, will use my money for good.

"Can I open a scholarship?"

"Of course, for which collegue you want?"

Kitty, one day, asks Moira- who now treats her as if she was Kate, which is endearing and uncanny at the same time- about her fiance. "I mean, should I say hi to Dr. Wagner?" And Moira's smiley face drops a little.

"Well, I suppose...but, the man was so dedicated to you. When you died...we all thought he would commit suicide" Moira tells the grimm tale of how German doctors don't handle grief very well.

Kitty understand this tale as one more reason to see the poor man. He may not love Kitty Pryde but he seems to have loved Kate Pryce very much.

Dr. Wagner returns from one of his hobbies, looking at his phone with some certanity. "One, two and ...three" and it rings. A smile appears on his face, dropping when he goes to answer it. "Hallo?"

And Kurt can hear her voice. The voice alone tells him who she is and what happened.

"Hi, huh my name is Kitty Pryde...look, this may seem a prank but...I'm Kate Pryce, I know this sounds bad and I do have proof" she is babbling and Kurt has to control himself to not laugh. Same as ever.

"Your voice...is the same" he responds and Kitty is surprised he believe on this aspect alone. She insist she has medical and scientific proof to back her up. "ok, then show me...I want to see" You, I want for so long.

"We can meet this saturday, if is ok for you"

"It is perfect for me"

A meeting is marked for saturday. Dr. Kurt has a big smile on his face, looking at rhe dark corner on his house.

"Was you?" Asked to the darkness. And of course, the darkness responds.

"No, I told you...she will come back...can you protect her this time?"

And Kurt is holding a knife, some spots of blood can be seen. "Absolutely, no one will take her from me" is a promise. The darkness laughs amused.
