Scene 7

Scene 7: May 30th, 1986, Front Yard Haileys’ 3:00pm

Hailey and Willow are sitting down, having another picnic. It has been a week since the last picnic and Hailey has been doing much better. Her and Willow’s friendship has been better than ever, and Hailey feels truly happy.

They are laying on their backs. Willow is laughing and Hailey is smiling, looking at her. Willow puts a strawberry in her mouth, still smiling and slightly laughing.

Willow: So, what? Is this going to become a weekly thing?

Hailey hums playfully, smiling.

Hailey: Guess so.

Hailey then sighs dramatically, making Willow look over at her.

Hailey: Guess that means me beating you at dig dug is also going to become a weekly thing, right?

Willow hits Hailey lighting.

Willow: Hey! No! I’ll beat you next time.

Hailey: (sarcastically) Oh, sure you will!

Willow: Alright, alright. We get it! You’re better at dig dug than me. Happy?

Hailey: (with a smile) Very.

Willow shakes her head slightly, laughing a little.

Willow: Mm! That reminds me to ask you if maybe I could stay the night, and we could watch a movie or something?

Hailey: (with a sigh) I wish. My aunt has been super pissed lately. Not sure what happened, but I’m scared to approach her and ask.

Willow smiles and nods understandingly.

Willow: I get you on that one. My mom has been upset lately, too.

Hailey laughs a little.

Hailey: Yeah. Well, let’s enjoy our time together while we have it. I’ll still see you tomorrow, as well.

Willow: (still smiling) Yeah. And trust me, next week will be the best! The new skating rink just opened and I’m so excited!

Hailey: Well then, we’ll see what next week brings for the skating rink.

Willow smiles and nods.
