“Can you believe this guy?”, Tony whispers to Steve, while shooting daggers at the reporter who obviously doesn’t know what questions are way too personal for the press conference they’re currently at.
Steve simply responds with a tight-lipped smile at the reporter, “Honestly, yes”, he murmurs back
He feels Tony shift beside him, no doubt jarring some of his injuries, fresh from the battle they’d just finished, not even two hours ago.
Steve takes a chance to glance at his other teammates, who are all bruised up, some (Natasha) look about ready to kill someone
And honestly, Steve feels the same
He immediately returns his attention to Tony, after the man let out a small groan, almost imperceptible if Steve didn’t have his super hearing
Luckily, Agent Hill is keeping the reporter busy, giving Steve time to really look at his boyfriend
Tony has a small scratch right above his eyebrow and another on his lip, his hand is inconspicuously holding his left side, a small grimace on his face
You wouldn’t be able to tell he was in pain unless you were really looking for it, and even then Tony was great at disguising things
Steve’s glad he knows the tell-tale signs, he knows Tony better than anyone else
He glances back at his team once more, before making up his mind
He stands, gaining everyone’s attention, “I think that’s enough questions, for now, We’re done here”, the sternness in his voice leaves no room for arguments
He’s sure the team is shooting him grateful looks, but that’s at the back of his mind as he reaches for Tony’s hand in his own.
“Thought you’d never do it”, Tony comments, as Steve leads them out of the makeshift press area they had put together, right after the battle, and out to the waiting Quinjet
Steve slides his hands around Tony’s waist, careful of his side, “I got better things to do”
Tony laughs, “Oh yeah, like what?”,
Steve bends down to whisper in Tony’s ear as they continue walking
“Spending time with my favorite guy”
