Summary
In #379-380 of Uncanny X-Men, four people were together in the same room, Two brilliant geneticists and two of the leads in our little story, with these two I pose a question, what if Sinister and The High Evolutionary were in cahoots, what if they needed the X-Men there, what if they needed samples from two in particular, what if Sinister was making a Class Five Mutant of his own? Here is the tale that I just had to tell, enjoy!

Meet the Parents

Avalon, During EXcalibur #11

Remy and Rogue had walked through the Citadel, they had lost Rictor to the Otherworld gate screaming and now Betsy had been taken by Saturnyne, “Guess we’ll hang out here ‘till Betsy needs us.” she told her husband who was looking for possible dangers right now for them, on edge, “Dat Saturnyne is one rude lady.” Gambit had told her, “She might be.” Rogue said, seeing what Remy was doing.

“But for all them scryin’ mirrors and lookin’ balls,” she said, mocking their ‘host’s’ magic, “She ain’t seen her mistake.” Rogue had said, “Whatchu mean chere?” he had asked, loving when she explained things, “She sent us out in the hall.” Rogue had told Rogue, “She thinks we just gonna sit here and twiddle our thumbs?” Rogue had asked Remy who was getting to marks instead of threats now.

“What you think’s in that big ol’ closet over there?” she had asked, Remy looking and focusing on the target she gave him, “Buncha goodies?” she had asked him, “Dieu.” He said, aiming to please, “Attaboy.” she had told Remy, knowing that he was going to be getting lucky tonight as she had went and joined her husband as he had went ahead and opened up the closet easily.

“It wasn’t even locked!” Remy had said, shocked at the lack of security that was there, “Well, why would it be?” Rogue had asked him, “We ain’t supposed to be here.” Rogue said, “All Saturnyne’s flyers got called to the fight.” she said, the two of them all alone, able to do anything, “Dunno if I should encourage you like this, but I like to see ya smile.” she said, happy that Remy was happy.

Lucky for me.” he had said, rifling through and getting things for them as well as for the mission, pulling out a deck of cards as well, “Heh. why not?” he said to himself, “Might as well fill my pockets…” getting anything that he could, “Darlin’, you know I like lettin’ you take your time,” she had said, giving both ideas at that, “But best hurry up before we get company.” she told Remy.

“Yeah. sorry bout dat.” he had went, not wanting either of them to get caught right now as he saw something that would be perfect for them, reminding him of a jewel that he saw once and that would look perfect on Rogue as he had went and pulled out the crimson amulet, “You know I’m a sucker for a pretty thing.” he had said to her as he heard a familiar chuckle.

Otherworld, During EXcalibur #12

Rogue had looked around a corner, “Coast is clear.” Rogue said as Remy kept walking as he flipped the amulet in the air, “All the goodies in that closet and you’re playin’ with that dumb stone.” Rogue had went, confused by his choice, “WHY do I recognize that thing?” she had said, trying to recall it, “You know?” he had went ], flipping it in the air again, “I don’ ‘member.” he told her

“Remy? Do you recognize it?” she had asked as they had walked further into a hall, "Is that why you took it? Be honest with me." Rogue had said and hearing that, Remy thought on what to tell her, "I ain't sure, chere." He admitted to her, not sure how to properly explain one of the banes of his existence there,  "Forgive me for bein' a little shaken up." He told Rogue.

"I'm still wishin' we'd just stayed home." He said, making Rogue look back, knowing that Remy was not the sort to just stay home, "You always say that." Rogue had told Gambit, "What if we get a li'l camera so you can look at the cats?" She asked, "Irene would love to do that for him." She thought, recalling the little girl that Mystique seemed attached to.

“C’mon. Let’s go see if we can’t get eyes on Betsy and get outta here.” Rogue had said as the ghost started to haunt Remy, “You are lying to your wife!” Candra said as she wrapped herself around Remy, “That is… so exciting for me.” she had told Remy who glared at the blonde witch, “Ain’t nothin’ to get excited about, Candra.” Remy told the woman that had controlled his family for so long.

“You’re here ‘cause I don’ trust ya, and I’d rather have ya in my hands than anyone else’s.” he had told Candra who took it the wrong way, “Mm, you and I have that in common.” She told him, “So you did know it was me in that stone? Are you rescuing me from a castle, Gambit?” She had questioned, “Wanna tell me what you’re doin’ here?” he asked her, cautious.

“Last time I see you, you’re a nasty li’l pichouette, and now you’re back to grown up, sittin’ in a stone in my pocket in Otherworld.” he had said, glad to have been done with her before, “That’s awful lucky that you turn up here, even for you.” he had told the woman who scoffed, “I’m the goddess of thieves, Remy.” She told him, “I don’t need luck.” Candra said but her predicament would say otherwise.

“A has been very inviting.” Candra had told him, caressing his shoulders, “Just about anyone can step through and take a look around King Jamie’s throne room.” Candra informed him, “You could have just TOLD Rogue you recognized my heart gem.” She had told Gambit who was trying to ignore her, “Why didn’t you? I could have said hello.” She had mocked to him.

“Last time I saw you, you chained up my wife, which–” He started before she interrupted him, “Go on, make the obvious joke.” She had told him which got Gambit angry, “You forget, mon amie.” he told her in hushed anger, “I been a thief for a long time, and thieves do more than just steal good things.” which she was definitely not, which made her lose her smile.

“We fence ’em off to whoever’s buyin’.” he explained, “You best start talkin’ clearly or I’ll see who’s in need of a mouthy paperweight.” he threatened to her, “If you MUST know, that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid.” She had explained to him before answering, “This sorcery business is nothing NEW for A.” she had told Remy as he continued to walk.

“Once he saw what he could do with the bones of ancient mutants… my days were numbered.” Candra said, telling him the partial truth, “I needed to stay out of his hands.” Candra had told him, “So you put yourself HERE?” he asked, “You know he been watching this place.” Remy said as Candra wrapped around him again, “He sent us here to make a gate.” he had told her.

“He’ll be here any second now.” Remy had explained to her, “Yeah, but Saturnyne HATES him. What’s safer than within her walls?” She asked and Remy could see that logic in that as she went in front and pressed her hands to his pectorals, “Please, Gambit.” she ‘begged’, “You have to protect me from Apocalypse… please.”  She had went, drawing him in… “Remy?!” and like that he snapped out.

Remy looked out of his stupor as he saw Rogue staring back at him with concern, “The hell’re you doin’ dawdlin’, sugah?” she had asked him, “We got company down the hall!” she told him and he got ready while Candra was still bothering him, “Oh no, save me!” She went, pissing off Remy, “Shush up!” he had hissed which was when Rogue looked and saw how he was acting.

“Who the hell you think you talkin’ to?!” Rogue had asked of him, because she knew that he was not talking to her like that, “There are the witchbreed thieves! The guard shouted, “Stop them!” she shouted as they started to run, “Not you… I promise!” he said, not giving a name, “You better hope so.” she said, trusting her husband, “Hurry up! She went as they ran away.

Rogue and Gambit had ran and had found themselves in the room where the gate was held with Betsy having a sword drawn and Saturnyne having a staff aimed towards the couple, “Rogue? Gambit?” Betsy went confused before getting an understanding, “…Are you what set off the alarm?” she asked as Saturnyne sensed what they had on their persons.

“Drop what’s mine. And BACK OFF.” she had demanded to the pair which was when Candra spoke up, “Do what she says, gorgeous. Let the lady have her gem.” she said as if Candra still had power over him, “Ta gueule.” he had told her, “Fine, fine.” She said, trying another strategy, “I won’t attempt to plead my case any further.” she had told him before telling him of another.

“But A wants that gem, and so do I.” She had told him which was pissing him off, “So you either help me…” Candra told him, “Or you help him.” She said, neither option sounding good right now as Saturnyne said something bad, “Priestesses… destroy this gate!” she had ordered, “Wait!” Betsy went, connecting to the other side, Betsy touching the gate before turning back to them.

“Candra” she went which made Rogue understand what was going on, “That old bat? I haven’t thought about her in…” “They’re going to tear down the gate anyway, it’s not going to matter– give it back!” Candra told him, desperate now, “Nah, Chere.” he said, pulling out the gem for them to see, “Gambit. Of course.” she went, remembering the relationship between the pair.

“That needs to go into the gate. You know she deserves it.” Betsy said as he had looked into the crimson hue, “It’s for A, right?” he asked, “You know I don’t wan’ do no more for him, mon amie.” he said, remembering when he was Death, “I wanna see him sulk real bad. But there gon’ be time for me to settle things with him later.” he said and seeing his grip, Rogue smiled.

“Today I’mma just handle Candra.” he said, throwing it into the gate, “Take it one External at a time.” he told them, “NO!” Candra shouted as the amulet connected, “NO!” She went as there was a bright flash and made the two of them shield their eyes as they had seen that the gateway was now open, “Get out.” Saturnyne said, “It’s too late now.” she had said, resigned to the fate that they had been given.

The External Gate, Krakoa

The group had all started to walk out of the gateway, all of them relieved to finally be out of there now, Apocalypse going and nodding towards them and relieving the assembled group when Rogue had gotten a whole bunch of texts now, Remy too, the pair of them going and checking their texts, “What happened?” Remy had asked as they saw a bunch of them that were asking about if they knew.

“What should we know?” the pair wondered as there was a call, Rogue looking and saw that it was her brother, “Kurt?” she asked, “Rogue! You’re back!” He went, “Yeah, we just–” “I need to talk to you and Remy at my place.” he had told her, confusing Rogue, “Why, is something wrong?” She asked, “It’s important, and I don't want the two of you to murder a council member.” he said.

That had surprised her, “Okay, we’ll be there.” she said before hanging up, “Kurt wants to see us.” she told her husband, “‘Bout what?” he asked, “Don’t know, he doesn’t want us to murder someone after hearing about it.” she told him, making him curious as the two of them had nodded, “Let’s go hear what Nightcrawler has to say.” he said as the pair of them went to go to The Narthex to see what he has to say.

The Narthex, Krakoa

Both Rogue and Remy were curious why Kurt had called them here, telling them it was important, "Kurt?" Rogue asked, the two looking around for him when he had teleported in front of them, "Ah, good, you're here." Kurt said, looking nervous, "Of course we're here, ya' called us." Rogue had told him, "What's dis about Kurt?" Remy had asked for the two of them.

"Okay, now I want the two of you to promise that you'll wait until I'm finished to react." He said to them, confusing both, "Sure." Rogue said, cautious now, "Can you please just tell us what is going on?" Remy asked, having seen some of the glances they had been getting from friends, Kurt took a deep breath before answering, "Rogue, do you remember when you said that you didn't want kinder?" He said.

Rogue tensed at that, "Yes," she said, confused now, "How did you hear–" "Well it looks like you don't have to worry about that anymore." He interrupted, killing any more questions on either one's tongue, "Because someone did it ten years ago." He had told the couple, "I have a baby?" She had whispered, absolutely terrified, "Both of you do," Kurt had told them.

"Apparently Sinister–" He started which was when he saw the anger on both of their faces, "Ce bâtard! Je vais le transformer en éclats d'obus s'il les blesse !(That bastard! I am going to turn him into shrapnel if he hurt them!)" He went, turning to go do that when Kurt teleported in front of him, "You promised to wait." He said, "Kurt. Do expect us to wait when you just said we have a kid?" His sister asked.

"No, I expect you to threaten him like me and mother did with death," he had told them, "Mystique knows–" Remy started before things started to click, "Remy?" Rogue asked her husband, "You got that look." She told him, "It's Irene, isn't it?" He asked Kurt, he nodded at that, Rogue hearing that felt her jaw drop, "Irene is our…?" Rogue was too shocked to say it, "I wasn't convinced either," he told them.

"But then she turned off the image inducer and I saw how much she looked like the two of you.” he had told them, “Remy’s eyes and Rogue’s hair.” Kurt said, pulling out a photo for both of them to see, it was of both him and her dressed up as swashbucklers, the two of them were shocked at it, how she had looked so much like either one of them, “Where is she?” Rogue had asked her brother.

Hearing that, Kurt gave a smile, “She’s at The Gates, and please be patient,” Kurt said, “She heard what you said about children.” he had told Rogue, making Rogue pale, wondering if she had already ruined any relationship she had with– with Irene, Remy saw thousand wrapped an arm around his wife, “Why don’ we go and meet her?” he asked just as scared as they went to meet their little girl.

Gate Hub, Krakoa

Irene had heard about how The External Gate was open which meant that they were here which meant that they knew so she needed to find a place to hide, not New Orleans, they’d try to make her talk to them, she was mature for her age but she was still HER AGE, so they were out, maybe England? She still had the keys to their apartment, but that's the first place Grandfather would look.

Irene was starting to check more and more off the map when she had heard a voice, “Irene?” hearing that, she turned and saw Rogue and Gambit, her mother and father looking at her, both of them looking scared and amazed at the sight of her, “H– Hi.” she said, nervous as she had waved to the pair, both of them approaching her like they would a startled deer which wasn’t far off.

“I’m sorry.” Irene said to them, surprising her parents, “But Grandfather told me not to and I just got it into my head that you wouldn’t ever want to meet me and when I heard you didn’t want kids like me I just–” Irene started to ramble which was when Rogue went and wrapped her into a hug, Gambit not far long after, “Reenie.” Gambit had said to her, making her tense.

“Ravi de vous rencontrer notre enfant.(Nice to meet you our child.)” he told her, making Irene feel more, “Nice to meet you too.” She had said, making the parents look towards her as she had started to sniffle and rub her eyes, “I’m sorry it’s just… I thought you’d never know about me.” she had told them, making the two of them sadder at the admission from her.

“Irene,” Rogue had told her, “I never planned for you, or for Remy, but I would never go back from knowing him and I’m not going to go back on knowing you.” she had told the little girl, making her give a nervous laugh, smiling at Rogue as she heard this, “Can I go play with the cats?” she had asked of the two, making both of them smile at that as they had went and brought her to the lighthouse hand in hand.

The Lighthouse, Britain

Jubilee was with Shogo when she had heard the sound of people going through the gate, “Hey, how’s things on Kra–” she had started before seeing that Rogue and Remy was walking through and they had a little girl between them, “Okay, now those texts about a mini Rogue make sense.” she said as the girl came in wearing the same uniform as Sinister’s grand–

“Irene?” Jubilee had asked of the girl, making her nod at that, “Yep.” she had told her, “Sinister’s moppet.” she had said to her and that was when the cats had went and started to circle around before they had climbed her, making Irene grin as she had went and grew a few arms to go and hold and pet them, surprising them, “I got a shot of Random and it is great for disguises.” she told them.

That had made both of them look at her with curiosity, “Did you ever…?” Rogue had asked, “One.” Irene had told them, “It was pretty fun down there.” she had told them, making them curious at what was going on now as where she had went and that was a question for another time as Rictor and Betsy had went and walked in, making the two look in surprise at that, “When did you two have a kid?” Rictor had asked.

“Oh, they didn’t have me, I’m a failed experiment.” she had told them, surprising them at that, “Failed?” Rogue asked, angry that someone would call her that, “Yeah, if I don’t wear my suit for over seventy two hours, I can go critical, wipe out the planet critical.” she had told them, making everyone but her parents take a step back, “So you’ve been wearing that all your life?” Jubilee asked.

“No, just since I was three.” she told them, making them all look at that as Remy was rubbing the back of her neck and felt a bump, making him lift her hair to see the tattoo that was there, “Oh! That’s just my tag.” she had told Remy, making Rogue look as well while Irene had went and sat down, playing with the cats while everyone but the girl could tell that they were planning a murder now.

Gate Hub, Krakoa

Nomi had walked through the gate, a little nervous as she had walked out, her parents had told her to be careful and if anything was weird, than she could figure out what all of this was going on, especially the whole ringing in her head when there was a feeling, “Um, excuse me?” a boy said, making her turn and look in surprise at the boy that was way bigger than her, putting her on guard.

“I’m so sorry, but… I saw you had the same mark as me and–” “Wait mark?” Nomi had asked, surprised, “Yeah,” he went, turning around and showing his neck to her, the same red diamond on her neck was there too, “Do you know what it–?” “Hi!” a energetic voice went, making the two of them flinch as a girl looked at them, “So you guys have it too?” she asked them.

Bending forward until her hair fell and revealed her own diamond, “So you guys also have it?” another asked, a young man smaller than the giant as he held a much younger girl’s hand, “Okay, what is going on?” Nomi had asked them, “I don’t know,” a young boy said with a authority to himself said, “But I expect answers from whoever has them.” he said when the hyper girl spoke up, “Hey, what’re your numbers?” she asked.

That confused them all, “Numbers?” the giant asked, “Yeah,” she went, turning around and pressing the back of her neck, “See, I’m number four!” she told them as a C–4 appeared on the diamond, curious, Nomi pressed her diamond and turned around, “What’s it say?” she asked the giant, “C–6.” he told her, “What about me?” he asked her, she checked for him, “C–3.” she answered.

“She’s C–7.” the boy holding what they assumed was his sisters' hand, “C–5.” the little girl said, pointing to her brother, “Then I must be C–1.” the last boy said, turning around and pressing the diamond, “Nnnope! C–2.” The energetic girl had told him, angering him while they all thought on that, “If he’s C–2, then where’s C–1?” the brother had asked, making them all wonder what exactly was going on.
