Shooting the Avengers
There’s a man with a metal arm posing with Natasha Romanov. Foggy is sitting on a folding chair that he prays is strong enough to support his weight while he watches the Avengers getting dolled up for the magazine shoot. They’re taking photos both in costumes and in stunningly gorgeous outfits that Foggy is sure he would never be able to afford, and a wide-eyed journalist is flitting around the room, asking questions and taking quotes from anyone that will speak with her.
Karen is wiping down Matt’s costume, trying to make him look presentable, and Tony Stark is grabbing different props for Matt to hold in front of him so no one noticed the slight bump. Matt isn’t wearing his mask, which at first worried Foggy, however Tony assured them that everyone working on this photoshoot has signed numerous NDAs to protect the identities of the Avengers. Foggy still doesn’t quite trust it, but he knows anyone would be stupid to cross Tony’s team of lawyers.
“Why doesn’t he hold the trans flag with Peter?” suggests Laura Barton from her position on a couch. Clint is sitting with her, their hands lazily intertwined while they wait for Clint’s photo opportunity. Foggy, Karen and Matt had met with her last night to have dinner and discuss the future of their child, and so far he hasn’t got a single bad thing to say about the woman. Most people wouldn’t take this as well as she has, and Laura actually seems genuinely enthusiastic about having another baby around, despite her saying that she was done with having children years ago
“That would he admitting he’s trans, basically,” Clint responds to his wife. “What about a basketball? Like they do in the sitcoms?”
Matt gives a chuckle at this. “Why don’t I wear a T-shirt that says ‘I’m not pregnant’?”
Karen smacks him on the chest and squints at him, peering for anymore blemishes or marks on his suit. “I think you’re ready, Daredevil.”
Foggy turns to look at Natasha and Bucky Barnes. He’s never met the Winter Soldier before, mainly because he’s been in Wakanda for the past few months, and Foggy is glad that he hasn’t ever gotten the opportunity to get on his bad side.
He’s a tall man with longish dark hair. His face is stern. His muscles are bulging, and one of his arms is completed replaced with metal. That arm right now is circled around Natasha’s waist. Nat is wearing a chiffon gown that sparkles when she moves, with her lipstick a matching red shade. Her hair is curled and bouncing, and she’s smiling brightly for the photographer.
“Perfect! Now, can I just get some shots of Mr Barnes alone?” the photographer asks, and Natasha happily obliges, skipping off to the snack table to grab a soda.
Foggy returns his attention towards his lovers, who are now trying out different poses to make Matt look more like his regular self. They both look absolutely ridiculous.
“What about Cap’s shield?” asks Peter while he’s munching on a bag of chips.
Tony’s eyes light up and he claps his hands together. “Perfect! Rogers, give us your shield!”
Steve looks like he’s going to argue, and Foggy is waiting for everything to kick off, however he pauses for a second and hands over his shield to Tony with a warning of, “I better get her back in one piece.”
Tony rolls his eyes, “It’s vibranium, Rogers. I’m more likely to injure myself with it than it even getting a scratch.”
He hands the shield over to Matt, who holds it against himself. He does a few different poses, asking the others how they think it looks. The journalist heads over to them, and Foggy sees her trying not to stare at Matt’s bare face, at his unseeing, unfocused eyes.
“Daredevil, can I get a few words for the article?” she asks him.
Matt frowns slightly, “I don’t have anything else to say. I’m glad to be part of the Avengers, and I look forward to doing more good than I could have done by myself. That’s it.”
She nods, making a note of that in her little book, and then she turns, looking for someone else to speak to. She catches Foggy’s eye and starts making her way over, and Foggy internally groans, however he plasters a false smile on his face when the journalist takes the empty stool beside him.
“Hello, I’m Gwendoline Henderson,” she says with a bright smile, crossing her legs. “I’m here getting some quotes for the CelebBuzz article. Can I ask who you are and your relation to the Avengers?”
Foggy shakes his head, “Unfortunately, Miss Henderson, I am not someone you can write about. I’m here with Daredevil.”
She looks disappointed, but presses on, “Okay, so I can’t print this, but can you tell me anything about him? As a professional curiosity, of course. I can see he’s blind, but what I don’t understand is why he needs to hold something for the photoshoot?”
It’s at this point that Matt drops the shield. Steve winces at the sight of this, however his face shows concern as Matt stands silent, his mouth slightly agape.
Everyone is staring, concerned, but then Matt let’s out a little gasp and announces, “The baby’s kicking.”
This gets Foggy launching out of his chair, and he can see Clint and Laura also barrelling over. Before anyone can reach them, Karen is already wrapping Matt in a hug and kissing his face.
“Wow! Oh my God, I need photos for the baby book!” Laura announces, scrambling with her phone so she can snap some photos of the momentous occasion.
Foggy grasps Matt’s hand in his own, excitedly squeezing it. Matt turns his unseeing eyes towards him, and Foggy sees there are tears at the edges of them. He reaches up and brushes them away with his thumb.
“Matt, this baby is going to be a little fighter,” Foggy says to him while Laura commands everyone to get into the shot so she can take a photo for her baby book. She’s been wanting to record all the big moments in the baby’s life, and already has a selection of sonogram pictures and bump photos that Matt has sent her. Foggy’s glad she’s so involved in this baby. It makes everything so much easier.
“Say cheese!” Laura calls, and Matt, Clint, Foggy and Karen all put on their best smiles, despite the happy tears rolling down a number of faces.
