A Quiet Night

The city is quiet tonight.

Matt is sitting on the edge of a roof, his legs dangling down as he tilts his head towards the sound of cats fighting down the street. He’s been patrolling for three hours, and currently has stopped two muggings and one attempted assault. There’s not even been a robbery tonight.

Matt swings his legs up and jumps gracefully onto the fire escape below. Moving quietly through the night, he jumps and spins onto a variety of roofs before ending up at his apartment. He taps three times on the roof hatch, waiting for it to be unlocked from the inside.

Matt used to let himself inside, however after a run in with Frank he’s decided its safer for those he loves if they unlock it for him. The hatch opens and Matt drops into his apartment.

Karen is rubbing sleep from her eyes. “Quiet night?” she asks around a yawn.

Matt smiles at her, pulling her into a quick kiss. “Very,” he says, his forehead pressed against hers.

“Does that mean you’ll be coming to bed?” There’s a smile in her voice, and she holds her hand out for him to take.

Grasping her hand in his, Matt lets her lead him to the bedroom.

The room is dark, and the king size bed is already occupied by a sleeping Foggy. His silk sheets are wrapped around his legs and he’s snoring peacefully. Matt lets go of Karen and lies gently next to her sleeping partner. He leans over and presses a kiss gently to Foggy’s forehead.

“There are worse ways a man can be woken up,” murmurs Foggy, blinking up at Matt. He reaches out and pulls the helmet from his face, his left hand cupping Matt’s cheek. “There, now I can see your beautiful eyes.”

“Good for some,” Matt says, letting himself be pulled into another kiss.

Karen climbs into the other side of the bed. She strokes her hands down Matt, finding the zipper on the back and slowly undressing him. He shrugs out of the tight costume, glad to be able to breathe better.

His chest is now exposed, something he hasn’t always been comfortable with, but he trusts Karen and Foggy with everything. Foggy runs his fingers over the scars on his chest, his hands warm and soothing over Matt’s aching body.

“I love you,” Matt says, simply because he wants them to know this.

Karen pauses slightly, her head tilting to the side. Her hair is cascading down her back, tickling Matt’s bare skin, and he runs his fingers through it. Her hand clasps over his, and her other hand takes in Foggy’s free hand.

“I love you both,” Karen says. Her heartbeat never waivers.

“I mean, if we’re saying it then I best just add that I, too, love you both,” Foggy adds with a chuckle in his voice. “However, since it’s the middle of the night and I am incredibly tired, I thought that we’d be doing a little more than having a conversation about how much we all love each other.”

“Ass!” Karen laughs as she gently smacks Foggy on his bare chest. “We were having a moment.”

“And I’m here for the moment…when it’s not two in the morning,” Foggy says with a yawn.

“Well, I wouldn’t want to waste your precious time,” Matt responds, pulling Foggy into another kiss.

Afterwards, they lay tangled together. Matt’s silk sheets are in a mess at the bottom of the bed. Karen is snuggled into his left shoulder, her gentle snoring nearly lulling Matt to sleep. Foggy is on his other side, turned towards him, his hand clasping around Matt’s right arm. Matt smiles to himself, wondering how he managed to end up in this situation.

“Tony…Tony…Tony…Tony…Tony…”

Groaning, Matt scoots his way down the bed to find his burner phone. It’s still in the pocket of his trousers, which were unceremoniously dumped at the foot of the bed. He grabs his phone and stumbles out of the room, trying to not disturb his partners more.

Matt answers. “Tony?”

“Hey Daredevil!” Tony says, his voice betraying his nervousness. “Um, I know we told you we’d call before doing anything in Hell’s Kitchen, but…well…we’re here already and we need your help.”

Matt groans. “I told you to stay out of my city.”

“And we tried to…but someone has kidnapped Clint and they’re holding him near the docks.”

“And you need me because?”

“Because this is your city and you know it like the back of your hand.”

“Text me the address and I’ll be there in fifteen.” Matt hangs up and throws his phone onto the counter.

The door to the bedroom opens and Karen is standing in the doorway. She’s wearing one of Foggy’s T-shirts, judging from what Matt smells.

“What’s going on?” Karen asks gently as Matt moves past her to grab his costume.

“The Avengers need my help.”
