The Day Of The Avengers Thanksgiving

"You know it isn't Thanksgiving if you don't watch Friends thanksgiving episodes!" Sam exclaimed as the Avengers finished their marathon of watching all the 10 Friends thanksgiving episodes.

"I know! I mean I love the one with Rachel's triffle" said Wanda while chewing on the dry cheereos that she was snacking on with Peter.

"But the question is... Will any of you be able to eat such an abomination? I mean Joey could and I think I know who's the Joey of our group" Natasha smirked and looked at Bucky. He pouted.

"Hey! I may eat a lot but even I cannot eat a meat triffle".

"You may never know, James."

Suddenly Pepper spoke, "Hey, you realise this will be the first thanksgiving that we will be spending together in a long time. I mean last year few of you had missions, Natasha was in Russia, Wanda and Vision were God knows where and Clint was with his family. So basically it's the first thanksgiving we'll officially spend together. "

Hearing her, the other superheroes straightened up as they all realised the same thing.

"That's right, Pep! You know let's do something grand. I'll send an invitation to the other Avengers and we can have a big party" Tony announced proudly. There was a disappointed murmur in the room.

"Of course you would say such a thing and anyways, Tony thanksgiving is a very intimate holiday to spend with friends and family. We don't need a big party. We can have fun, you know with just us" Steve said and everyone liked his idea.

"Hmph..whatever" Tony sneered.

............

Soon Thanksgiving rolled around and the people of the tower were very busy. As per Steve's suggestion, the guest list was short. Tony had invited May along with Peter. Clint was invited but he couldn't make it as he wanted to spend time with his family. Yelena too couldn't be there as she had headed to her parent's and although she had asked Natasha to come, the red head had declined so to spend thanksgiving with the Avengers. Thor and Loki had come from Asgard as it was a new tradition to them for Norse Gods didn't have thanksgiving holidays.

From the morning, Sam and Bucky were fighting on who will take charge of making the pie.

"You know I'm a better cook than you, Wilson" Bucky argued.

"Ya ya, better... in burning down the MICROWAVE!" Sam yelled back. Steve had tried to break them apart saying that he could handle it but both of them denied.

"No, Steve. You and Pepper already have so much responsibility for cooking dinner, you can leave the pie on us" both had said and then side eyed each other. Steve sighed knowing that it was impossible to stop the two so he looked at Natasha, who was idly sitting there and enjoying their ruckus, and silently pleaded for help. She winked at him in response.

"Okay good fellas, big talk! Why don't you two compete to figure out? Whoever will clean and decorate the dining area and the lounge room first would get the pie making facilities. Am I clear boys?"

Sam and Bucky liked her idea and agreed.

"I'm so gonna beat your ass, Bucky."

"Well not if I do first"

Arguing like this, the two went away.

"Thank you so much, Nat. You are a life saver. Those two were really making cooking difficult" Steve said. Natasha smiled.

"Well it's one of the things you can be thankful for tonight, Rogers" Natasha said and kissed him and then went away as well, leaving Steve and Pepper cook in peace.

As evening came over, the festivities started. Bucky and Sam had decorated the dining area as asked but still nobody got to make the pie as it was already made by Wanda. Natasha had tried her hands at the mashed potatoes and let's say... She'll never be let to mash any food items anymore. The kitchen air was filled with the smell of delicious food, courtesy of Pepper and Steve. Soon all the guests arrived. It was Peter and May who had come first.

"Hey, Tony. Thanks for the invite. I took the liberty to make you some Sweet Potato Casserole. Hope you'll like it" May said and handed Tony a packet.

"Ah May, you shouldn't have but thank you" Tony said and looked at Peter who was vigorously shaking his head. As May went away, Peter came to Tony.

"Mr. Stark, I think you should stay clear of the Casserole."

"Why Kid? It looks delicious!"

"Yes, it looks nice but it's not edible."

Tony started laughing, "Alright, I'll keep that in mind."

As everyone was gathering around the table, Steve and Natasha finished setting up the food. There were mashed potatoes (later made by Pepper), Yam, cranberry sauce, Apple and Pumpkin pie, Red Sangria and of course the Turkey. They were sitting around when a lightening struck the front porch and through the window came in Thor and Loki.

"Hello my mortal friends! Thank you for inviting me to this festival of 'Giving of Thanks'" Thor beamed.

"Ahh it's just called Thanksgiving, thunder Barbie" quipped Tony.

"Here I brought you all some good Asgardian mead!"

"Thor, you remember the last time you brought that right?" Natasha said but Sam sushed her.

"We don't talk about that, Nat. Never."

Loki rolled his eyes at them, "I don't know why I always get invited to your stupid parties. I tried to kill you all for Odin's sake!"

"Because we are nice people and believe in giving a second chance" Peter said. Loki shrugged. The spider kid was the only one he was fond of.

Soon all the Avengers sat around and made their toasts before jumping into the delicacies. Plates were passed around and chatters were all around. Among all the adults, Peter was feeling a bit bored and when he looked at Loki beside him who was slouching on his chair as well.

"Mr. Loki, are you bored as well?" he asked.

"Ye spider kid. Watching these people talking and eating, I'm perfectly jaded."

"I wish we could do something fun" Peter sighed but Loki's eyes glimmered.

"That we can do."

It was the much awaited moment of cutting the turkey and Tony had taken the responsibility for it. He took the big knife and was about to plunger through the dead bird when suddenly the turkey became alive and jumped off the table and started running around. Everyone was in shock. They couldn't register what just happened but Peter knew who it was and looked at Loki who was smirking. After a moment of shock, Bucky, Sam and Tony started running behind the turkey to catch it. Even though it was a shocking incident, none of them could hold their laughter.

"These idiots won't be able to pull off anything" Wanda said and raised her red glowing hands and the turkey along with Tony, Sam and Bucky came flying to the table and all of them landed on their butts.

"What was this?" Bucky whined, rubbing his back.

"This is what you get for your stupidity" Wanda said and then put the turkey back to it's place and it became lifeless as before.

"You sure Wanda we won't have any more of turkey running around?" Natasha asked. Wanda shook her head.

"Don't worry Nat, everything is fine now. But I do wonder who did this? Who the hell made the turkey alive??"

The their eyes went to Loki who was sitting their proudly smirking and Peter was siting beside him shyly.

"Brother, was this you?" Thor asked.

"Oh brother.. What's a party without a little fun. Anyways, little Peter here was getting bored so I entertained him."

"Peter, was this your idea?" May asked, narrowing her eyes.

"No... But I did say I was bored. I'm sorry" Peter said sheepishly.

"Hey it's okay, kiddo. Anyways we all did have fun except the landing on our butt thing. I hope this turkey is edible still so let's dig in" Tony said and everyone went back to enjoying their food.

After dinner was over, all of them were sitting around the fire, drinking apple cider when Pepper had an idea.

"Hey guys, when we are all here then why not we say something that we are thankful for today."

"Huh that's nice Pep. I'll start" Tony said and cleared his throat.

"I'm thankful that Pepper had said yes to my proposal, for my daughter and the Avengers. And also the fact that there's no aliens right now."

"Well I'm thankful that Tony has finally learnt how to be an adult and also our family" Pepper said.

"I'm thankful for this job. This family and the love of my life, Steve. I used to have nothing but now I have you all and I'm better because of it" said Natasha.

"I'm thankful for a free country, free citizens and also this family and my amazing wife" Steve said. Bucky facepalmed.

"Always the captain huh? Anyways I'm thankful that I'm alive and I've a sane mind."

"And I'm thankful that Bucky is sitting ten feet away from me" Sam snickered and got a glare from both Bucky and Steve.

"I'm thankful that all of you accepted me even after everything I did. I couldn't ask for anything else" Wanda said as she teared up a bit.

"I don't know if I'm thankful to anyone else but I'm thankful to my brother for giving me a second chance" Loki said and gave Thor a genuine smile.

"Ye brother, I'm thankful for you to be back in my life as well."

"And I'm thankful that even though I have lost so much, Mr. Stark took me in. Saw me as a son and taught me so much. I'm thankful to all the Avengers who have taught me so much in life and have made me their own. And at the end, I want to thank the spider who had bitten me because even though it's been a rough journey, I can help people and do something for the world" Peter said at the end. Tony patted his back and the kid snuck into his warmth.

The rest of the night went like this, talking and laughing which was a perfect picture of what a beautiful family the Avengers were.
