Summary
Centuries ago-Loki, Son of Odin, roamed through a Midgardian village when he found a beautiful babe in the dead of night. The only thing that gave him any idea of who he was was the scarlet blanket the baby was wrapped in. With it being embroidered with the name: Peter. He lies to his family. Saying that Peter is his own, claiming that he is the blood of Loki himself. Through the power of the Golden Apples, he watches Peter grow. He notices how he’s so keen on Midgard. How the people live. How they act. But if anyone knew that Peter was truly a Midgardian, he doesn't know what would happen. So, he bans Peter from stepping foot on Midgard, hoping that would stop it.But centuries later-Thor gets banished to Earth. And when history begins to repeat itself, he doesn’t know if he will be able to protect his son any longer. And it certainly does not help when Peter begins to idolize a man with the mind of a computer and armor of a god: Tony Stark, the Man of Iron.ORLoki finds and raises Peter, and tries his best to keep that secret from the world. Tons of fluffy father-son moments. Plus Thor being protective of his nephew. Eventual FrostIron.(New Chapter Every Tuesday!)
Note
So I’m really excited to write this! The idea of Peter being a god of Asgard has been on my mind for a while now, so I wanted to write something with that idea. And I really needed some Soft boy Loki in my life, so there is that. So expect a lot of fluffy ass father and son moments. The kind that makes you wanna barf. But this work is probably going to be a long one. As the summary states, it’s basically going to show the introduction of how the two meet and such, then go into the first Thor movie. Since Peter was a literal CHILD when the first couple of MCU movies came out-story wise, that is- I’m really interested to see where my mind takes me.And don’t worry, even though Peter is technically an Asgardian, with the accent and all, he’s still the dork we all know and love. Just more powerful. And the God of Spiders. So there’s that. And just to be clear: FrostIron is gonna be an endgame. It’s gonna take a little while to get there, but it’s gonna be worth it! I promise!!!

A Prince of Mischief and Babes, Chapter 3

Part 1: A Prince of Mischief and Babes, Chapter 3:

Loki slowly opened his eyes when he heard the sound of bells ringing.

He was never really a morning person, especially after a mission like last night. Loki was a lord of the night, at least that was what he liked to call himself, though he was sure that no one else thought the same. Well, not a lot of people knew about his nightly adventures, save for Thor and a few others. A lot of people knew of his mischief, he was the god of it after all, but they did not know just how far his adventures went. All they really knew was that he stood besides Thor and his own adventures, but never as his own.

Loki groaned as he slowly rose from his spot on his bed, looking around.

Most of the curtains of his room were open, similar to how they were left last night. But unlike the night, the stars had been replaced with an orangey-blue sky, with clouds. His entire room, which was still littered with books all over the place, was glowing a vibrant orange, with the light peeking through the windows.

There was suddenly an incoherent noise coming from next to him. Like a squeak. Loki looked down.

And there Peter was.

The young babe was still in the little pillow fort that Loki had made him last night. The black haired young man was still proud of the fort, but that was for another time. At some point in the night, Loki had wrapped the red blanket back around the boy, as the babe was sleeping soundly inside of it. Peter looked as comfortable as ever, and Loki did like how the red and green mashed together. The red was not as bright, not like the red that Thor wore. The blanket was more of a dark scarlet. He liked it.

Loki took note of the small vial of red blood that was at the boy’s side.

He slowly picked it up with his long fingers, bringing it up to his face, examining it.

Loki had been so tired last night. He remembers the two of them playing for a little while after he had gone through everything inside of his bag. And out of all the things, Peter liked this one the most.

He would have to keep it safe.

Loki reached for his satchel, and tossed the vial inside, making sure that nothing bad would happen to Peter’s toy.

But when Loki heard the sound of bells ringing again, his stomach dropped.

Loki’s eyes shot for the entrance of his room, and he took note of the bells that were located near his door. There were bells all around his rooms, as they were all a part of the mechanism of the two snaked doors. There was a small lever on the doors, and if pulled, they would run connected through the rooms and to whichever room Loki was in. He had installed the bells a few decades ago, as it was becoming a problem for people who needed to get word of him.

But that meant that someone was currently at the doors of his rooms.

Loki shot out of bed.

Well, ‘shout out of’ was a big statement. He quickly got up, as he did not want to disturb Peter, who was still sound asleep next to him. He liked it when Peter was either happy, or sleeping. He really did not like it when Peter wailed.

The black haired young man ran into his closet, which was the size of some of the living quarters here in the palace. His closet was just a room full of green, as he really did not like much of any color. Besides gold, of course. Greens and golds were typically his colors of choice, and he could not have one without the other.

Loki stood in front of the giant mirror of his closet, and he immediately began to undress his clothes. He had still been in the clothing from last night, which made him look like he had either been in a war, or a dirt bath. And technically, he had been in both.

There was so much that he could wear, but he did not have enough time to really pick out an outfit. So he decided to go with something simple and basically choose a white dress shirt with a stringed v-neck and green pants. Green magic formed in his hands, and as he undressed, the two pieces of clothing began to hover from their spots and right in front of him, waiting to be put on.

The two pieces of garments flew right to his body once he was fully naked, and he ran out his closet. He glanced at Peter to make sure he was okay, and the babe was still sleeping.

Loki ran through his rooms and made it to his front doors. Before he opened it, he took a deep breath.

All right, he could do this. He was also the god of lies, if that was anything. He was a prince, whoever it was, he could just tell them to fuck off without any consequences. He would of course get a scolding from his mother, but he really did not care about that.

He needed to keep Peter safe.

Loki waved his hand, and one of the doors slowly opened, revealing the person on the other side.

And he let out a sigh of relief.

The woman in front of him was not all that tall, but she was not a force to be reckoned with. She was one of the most beautifulest women in Asgard, there was no debate about that. The woman had the most beautifulest brown eyes that the nine realms had come to see. They were a deep brown, with speckles of amber coming from the edges of the irises. Not to mention those long brownish eyelashes that protected those beautiful eyes.

With sharp features and beautiful tan skin, she was adored by all that looked at her. The woman had always been a pleasant sight to look at, especially when there were long hours in his Father’s court. His eyes would always wander over to her, and she would either pretend to look away, or simply smile and wave to the black haired young man.

She had long, blonde hair that was put up in a pony-tail. With braids coming from her forehead all the way to the back of her head, meshing with the pony-tail. It was Asgardian braids, but most women preferred to have their hair down. It was more traditional that way. But, the younger folk these days, including Loki, liked to break those traditions. Which is why so many women like wearing their hair up.

The woman was wearing a beautiful blue dress, similar to the type of clothing that his mother wore. Only this time, her shoulders were exposed, making the outfit look younger.

“My prince.” The woman slowly bowed her head. She held her hands behind her back.

“Freya.” Loki let out a sigh of relief. “I’m glad you have come.” Loki looked the woman up and down, smiling at her. “Please, come in.”

Loki swiftly stepped out of the way, letting the woman inside of his chambers. Freya simply stepped inside, walking towards the middle of the center of the main chamber. The woman looked around with her eyes, observing everything inside. Not much has changed, considering that she was just here last week.

“And what is with the ‘my prince’ business? I thought we already established that we are friends.” The black haired young man stood next to her.

“Well, considering the contents of that letter, I did not know if this was a meeting of business or pleasure.” The woman commented. “Especially at its vagueness.”

The woman rummaged through the pockets of her dress for a second, pulling out the letter from her pocket. She opened it, and read it out loud.

“‘Please come to my rooms. It is urgent. I cannot disclose what it is as of yet, but it is of great importance.’” She read. The woman slipped the piece of paper back in her dress pocket. She clasped her hands in front of it. “I apologize for not being able to come sooner. I was awake, but I was helping one of your father’s general’s with their new babe. When your letter arrived, I had to say it was from a friend.”

“Not a lie, then.” Loki smiled at her. “I hope.”

“Your hope is in vain. I have come to enjoy our walks through the gardens.”

Freya smiled at him, and he found himself smiling back.

Loki had come to enjoy their walks through the gardens. They had only recently started, just a few months ago actually. But being that she was a part of his mother’s court, she did spend a lot of time in his mother’s gardens. He had come to enjoy it.

“But why have you called for me?” Freya then asked. “Is it something urgent?”

Oh. How that was a loaded question.

Loki let out a long breath.

“Follow me to my room.”

The blonde woman scrunched her eyebrows. She did not look confused, but she looked as if she did not like what he was going to say. But the woman simply nodded and the two of them began walking through Loki’s large chambers. Loki put both hands behind his back as the two of them walked.

“Are you familiar with… my travels?” He asked slowly.

The woman took a second to respond. “I do not mean to mispeak, but… you are referring to when you leave the realm, correct?”

Loki nodded his head. “Without my father’s awareness. I have a deal with Heimdall that he will keep his mouth shut unless my father asks.”

“Because he cannot lie to the king.” Freya observed. Loki found that the corners of his mouth were slightly raised. The reason he had taken Freya was because of how smart she was. Clever. “But how could you have made a deal such as that? Heimdall answers to the king. Not you. And I mean that in the most respectable manner.”

“I take no offense.” Loki assured. “Let’s just say… I keep my mischief to a minimum of the nights he lets me through. All of Asgard can rest in peace those days.”

“Of course.” Freya laughed. “But I have come to guess your travels are part of the reason I am here?”

“Y-yes.” Loki cleared his throat. “I… found something. Last night, actually.”

“Found something.” The woman repeated. She said it more as a statement than as a question. Freya simply raised a brown eyebrow up at the statement.

Loki nodded.

The two of them stopped right in front of his bedchamber. The door was still wide open, but the bed was on the far side of the room. So the woman was not able to fully see Peter as of yet. Loki turned to the woman, and tried to prepare her for what was to come.

“All right.” He let out a shaky breath. “What I am about to show you is one of the most maddest things I could have brought to the palace. And what I need most is not only your wisdom, but your secrecy.”

“What-”

“Promise me, Freya.”

Loki raised both of his hands and gently grasped at the woman’s shoulders. Her bare, tan shoulders felt warm against his cold hands, and he wondered if his touch was as cold as her warm skin. Freya did not seem too bothered by the touch, as she simply scrunched her eyebrows, and looked at the black haired man as if he was insane.

“What did you bring, Loki?” Is what she asked.

Loki inhaled.

“I-”

“Waaah!”

The two of them jumped back from one another.

Loki immediately knew just what it was, and was about to step into his room to calm the babe down, but he felt a hand at his chest. Loki's eyes widened as he looked down at the hand, and found Freya stepping in front of him. The woman was not looking into his green eyes, she simply kept eyeing the bed with her mouth slightly opened. She looked as though she did not believe what she was hearing.

The blonde stepped into the room first, slowly walking towards his bed. Loki felt his heart racing a mile a minute, as this was the first time he had ever shown Peter to anyone. Besides Heimdall, of course, but that man didn’t count. The man already knew everything as it was, if he was looking at it. And he was always eyeing the son of his king.

And when Freya stopped right in front of the bed, she looked down at the young babe.

Peter was still wrapped up in his red blanket, looking as comfortable as ever. He was not flailing his arms around, as Loki had made sure that he was snuggled up tight last night. And he was crying, yes, but it was not as intense as last night. His eyes were sealed shut, and his face was as red as a tomato. Loki just wished he knew what was wrong.

Freya looked towards Loki for a few seconds, with straight up confusion in those brown eyes of hers. Words tried to come out of the God of Michief’s mouth, but he couldn’t find them. It was actually a shame. He was known to have the Silvertongue after all. And it was rare moments like this where he really did not know what to say. His mouth felt dry.

When it was clear that Loki was not going to speak, the blonde turned to look down at the young babe. Freya let out a long sigh, and reached down towards the young babe, wrapping both hands beneath the child.

Loki stood a step forward. Suddenly, his mouth began to function.

“Be careful-”

“Have you forgotten that I am the Goddess of Fertility?” The woman asked. “Trust me to know what I am doing.”

Loki simply swallowed.

And she did. The woman slowly lifted the wailing baby up into her arms, gently rocking the baby boy back and forth. The contrast of her blue dress and Peter’s red blanket were vibrantly different from one another, but it also made sense at the same time. Loki found himself on edge the entire time as she rocked him back and forth.

“Shh, little one. It’s okay.” The woman reassured the babe.

Peter simply wailed in response.

“Hmm. Lively one, aren’t you?” Is all the woman says.

Freya sat down on the green sheeted bed, making herself comfortable. Loki found himself jittering as he stood, so he sat down next to her, watching her work her magic. Well, not literal magic, considering that she was just rocking him back and forth. But he knew she was capable.

“Shh, darling. You’re okay…”

Peter then made some incoherent noises, before the wailing ceased. His face was still beat red, but the boy let out a cough. The young babe then licked his lips, before he opened his eyes, looking up at the two of them curiously.

“Ah, there we go!” Freya says softly. “Hello, little one!”

Loki felt his jaw drop at that. How the hell did this woman manage to get the babe to stop crying so fast? Loki had emptied his entire bag just to find something to keep the babe entertained. And Freya had only been in here not even a minute and she had already hushed the young boy to halt his wails. He needed to know just how the hell did she manage to do that.

Peter stared at the two of them with his beautiful brown eyes. And Freya took notice.

“What lovely eyes.” She comments. “Reminds me of my own.”

Loki found himself nodding. They did have similar eyes. Peter’s was a little darker, but they both almost had the same exact shade of that beautiful brown.

“Is he yours?” Freya finally turned to him.

“What?” Loki looked at the woman in shock. “Norns no!”

“Then how did you come of him?” She asked, clearly confused.

“Like I said earlier: it was through my travels.” Loki found himself rubbing the back of his neck. “Right before I was to call Heimdall. I found him. He was left in an alley in the rain at the dead of night. Left for trash.”

Freya nodded her head. “Shame. A babe as perfect as this deserves more.”

“My line of thinking.”

“Why am I here, Loki?” Freya questioned.

“Like you so gracefully reminded me,” Loki pointed out. “You are the Goddess of Fertility. I do not know how to care for a babe. And I need your help in taking care of him for the time being. Until I figure out what I am going to do with him.”

“You cannot ask your mother?” Freya asked. “She is the goddess of many things. Motherhood being one of them. She could surely help you.”

Loki raised his chin at the woman.

“You are smart, Freya. So I know you are well aware what is going to happen the moment I even attempt to inform my mother of Peter’s existence. She would be forced to tell my father-”

“And they would send him back to Midgard.” The woman looked down.

Peter was still looking between the two of them. He did not look neither happy nor sad, simply kept looking at the two of them without a thought behind those big eyes of his.

But Loki was quick.

“I never mentioned he was from Midgard…”

Freya simply laughed.

“I may not travel through the night like you do.” She started. “But I am a part of your mother’s court. We spend many days wandering through Midgard, taking care of people and babes who cannot help themselves.” The woman looked down towards the child in her hands. She smiled at Peter, bringing her finger to his nose, rubbing it. “So I am very familiar with children from there.”

Loki cleared his throat.

“I am glad.”

“Now, when you say you want my help caring for him, just how far does that extend?” Freya asked specifically. “Because I will help in teaching you how to take care of him. Meals. Changing. All of that sort.” The woman rocked Peter some more. “But I have responsibilities, Loki. This is not the only child that needs my help.”

“I’m not asking you to be his mother.” Loki rolled his eyes. “I just need help. Yes, I need you to teach me. But babies are not dogs. I cannot just leave him in my room and go fulfill my duties.”

He hated how he was just echoing Heimdall’s words. He just hoped on everything that the man was not watching him at this moment. He would never be able to get that smug look off the man.

Freya shook her head.

“I do not know…”

Damnit. Loki was going to need a boost.

“Freya.”

The man fully turned to her. With all the power that he could muster, he gave the woman all the emotion that he could fathom in his green eyes. He just needed to convince her to fully help him, not just teach him what he needed to know. He was going to need someone to watch Peter at times, and being that she was the only person that he could trust at the moment, she was his only option.

The woman could sense the change of atmosphere, and she slightly tensed. Good. Loki needed her to think that she was important. Okay, she was important, but the black haired young man definitely was not going to admit that.

“Freya, you’re the only person that I can trust with this. To trust with Peter.” Loki’s voice was soft. “It is not just because you are the Goddess of Fertility. The baby is already here. I need you because you are my friend. I’ve enjoyed our walks together through my mother’s garden. And how you read all the books I recommend to you.”

The blonde shook her head. “There hasn’t been one book that I haven’t liked yet…”

“Then there you go!” Loki smiled. “I need your help.”

“Your tongue is made of silver. But I do like having my ego stroked…” Freya sighed. “Do you know how many issues are going to come up if this little secret,” The woman gestured to the baby in her arms with her chin. “Get’s out? It would cause an absolute stir in the kingdom. And you are the son of the king. That title alone gives you protection. I do not even know what would happen to me if the king finds out.”

I would protect you.” Loki immediately says. Freya gives him a skeptical look. “You know I would. I am one of the most powerful mages in this kingdom. I would be able to protect you.”

“Like how you’re protecting this one?” Freya asked. She looked back down to the babe. Peter was looking between the two of them again, and this time, he was smiling at the two of them. “And what did you say his name was again?”

“Peter.” Loki responds. “It was the name that was embroidered on the blanket.”

Loki reached for the child, or more so the scarlet blanket. He flipped over some of the sheets to find the embroidery for the woman to see. Once Loki was able to find it, Freya’s brown eyes scanned the black letters that had been sowed into the red blanket.

“‘Peter…’” She read. The woman ran her thumb against the knit letters. “Such a… Midgardian name. But strong, nonetheless.”

“It is…”

Freya closed her eyes. Loki did not say anything, as he knew that she was deep in thought.

She sighed.

“Like I said. I have responsibilities that cannot be ignored. But,”  She looked down towards Peter. “I’ll get everything you’re going to need. The crib, food. Everything.”

Loki lit up at that. “Fantastic! But how will you get everything up here?”

Freya gave him a look. “I have my ways.”

Loki let out a laugh. “I have no doubt about that.”

Suddenly, he felt a weight off of his shoulders.

This was fantastic! He had managed to get Freya to help him with Peter! He knew he could do it, as the two of them were already heading towards a friendship, and this child no doubt sealed that pack. He was not going to question her on how she was going to get some of what they needed up here. She was apart of his mother’s court, after all, and one did not get there from being stupid.

“Do you need some help getting what you need up here?” Loki asked.

“No, I can get everything here by nightfall. Just make sure no one comes up here.”

“Understood, my Lady.” Loki bowed his head at the woman, crossing his hand over his chest. The blonde rolled her eyes at his fake respect.

“And has he eaten anything yet?”

Loki then looked up at the woman, suddenly feeling caught. The woman’s brown eyes were now piercing into him, and he could not help but cough into his fist.

“Well, uh… that’s why I said it was urgent.” He said cautiously. “I didn’t really know what to feed him…”

Freya shot out of her seat, taking a step away from the black haired man. Loki quickly stood as well, putting both hands up, as she was pointing a sword at the man. But with the way that her eyes had turned into daggers, she very might well have.

“You haven’t fed him yet?!” Her voice screeched through his large bedroom. “Babies are supposed to eat a few times a day! When did you get hold of him?”

Loki coughed.

“Last night…?”

“LAST NIGHT-?!”

Suddenly, the bell in his room began to ring again, and he never felt more relief in his life.

“Well, look at that!” He started already heading towards his bedroom door. “Someone’s at the door!” Freya’s eyes were still piercing into him as he walked towards his bedroom door, and through his rooms. Right before he left, he yelled, “Don’t come out! We don’t want to risk someone seeing you! And if I’m not back in the next five minutes, assume I’ve left!”

“We’re not done with this conversation!” She called back.

-000-

Loki quickly waved his hand, and both doors of his room closed without a sitch.

He let out a sigh. He shook his head as he walked towards his rooms and back to the main door.

At least he got Freya to help him. Sure, he didn’t feed Peter as of yet, but he was unsure just what to give to the brown haired boy. Babies were delicate, especially when it came to what goes in their bodies. He did not want to accidentally give something to the poor boy then have him accidentally or choke or die.

Loki trudged his way to the two snake doors for what feels like the millionth time that day, and waved his hand to open the doors. He could have simply pulled at them with his hands, but he was a mage for a reason. He had magic, and he was going to use it.

Once the two doors opened, Loki was greeted with a chambermaid. Loki immediately recognized her to be one of his mother’s, as the blues and gold gave it all away. He was just thankful that it was not someone important, like one of his actual family members or one of his friends. Then he would not be able to not let them in.

But he wondered why she was here.

“My prince.” The maid curtsied, bowing her head. She dared not look him in the eye, as it was seen as a sign of disrespect, and kept her eyes fluttered to the floor. “You’ve been summoned by the King and Queen for breakfast near the gardens.”

Loki let out a breath of hot air.

Thank the Norns Freya was here. He would have had to find an excuse not to go, and two things would have happened. His mother would have either sent for more maids to come and get them, or she would have sent Thor to retrieve him. He really did not want his brother anywhere near his rooms at the moment, especially with Peter here.

Loki closed his eyes for a second.

He let his mind wander for a few moments.

“My mother is requesting me for breakfast.” He told the woman, who was still in his room. “I do not know when I shall be back.”

Loki waited for a response, and it took only seconds to get it.

“I will be here with Peter. Feeding him.” She responded. Loki let out a breath of relief. “Everything that we will need will be ready. Also, is there a specific room you do not mind lending?”

The black haired man scrunched his eyebrows at that. What the hell did she need a room for?

“You can use the guest room across my bedroom. No one ever sleeps in there anyway.”

“Perfect.”

“My prince?” Loki looked back down towards the woman. She was still not looking him in the eyes, still cast down to the floor. “Is everything all right?”

“Everything’s fine.” Loki stepped out of his room and into the massive hallway. He looked back towards the chambermaid. “Come. Take me to the room in which they are dining.”
