Siege across Bifrost
dark, snow-laden clouds appeared over Bifrost. They drifted towards Asgard with astonishing speed. Within moments, a fierce blizzard raged, blasting the city walls with pellets of ice and snow. The screaming wind drowned out the cries of the Asgardian citizens gathering to defend their homes from the Frost Giants. A mountain of ice appeared in the eye of the storm. It moved towards Asgard's gates with a slow but steady stride. The rainbow bridge trembled with each step.
The mountain of ice was, of course, the great Frost Giant Ymir. He was using mighty magic to generate the cold that created the storm assaulting Asgard. He stood directly above the break in Bifrost, which he had just repaired by creating a crude overpass of ice.
Only a small cadre of frost giant soldiers had traversed the overpass onto Bifrost, when the Guardians of the Galaxy met with Thor Oddinson. Joining him in battle, they quickly dispatched the growing Giants and worked to defeat Ymir and destroy his repair.
Doing everything to defend his bridgehead, Ymir used his cold generation to force the Guardians to fight through a blizzard to reach him. As the Guardians proved effective with the ranged attacks of their lazer blasters, Ymir used his power to freeze the space between them and himself. But, Thor used the mighty Mjolnir to shatter the ice wall that separates him from his quarry. Thor even endured the withering frozen touch of Ymir to bludgeon him brutally with his hammer. As he did so he channeled a massive bolt of lightning through himself and ilnto the giant. Thor then used Ymir's unconscious form to destroy the ice overpass and launch the giant careening through space. The remaining giants glumly retreated home towards Jotunheim.
After defeating the giants Thor, and the Guardians quickly flew back to Asgard to join the forces on the Plains of Ida.

A bloodcurdling scream echoed up the street. A young Asgardian woman fled a building. Four hulking, ape-like shadows followed. The hulking, Ape-like shadows were cave Trolls. They carried clubs and spears which could inflict terrible damage. Leaping to the girls' aid, the guardians beat back the attacking trolls.
The girl they had been chasing was Fritzie, adolescent daughter of Asgardian warrior Gustave Iver and an earth woman. Until recently, she had lived with her mother in southern California. When she stopped aging at 16 years, her parents decided she should move to Asgard. "Have you been harmed?" Drax inquired.
"Like, gag me, okay?" Fitzie replied. After a few minutes of comforting, she explained. "Like, i was just doing my nails, you know, waiting for pops to finish up his Ragnarok and roll thing. I wasn't doing nothing wrong, I swear. Like, I haven't seen Griswold for a month, ok?! I mean, I was really bored, but everybody seems so really worried about this rag-thing that i was staying cool, okay? Anyway, this awesome hole--I mean, really awesome, okay-- it opens up right in the middle of the great hall. Then these gross hairy guys--you know, i gagged when i saw them-- they jump out and trash the place. Like wow, Dad's gonna be so pissed!" her face contorts to an expression of terror. "He'll never believe my friends and I didn't do this!"

Beta Ray Bill arrived and ventured into the tunnels to rout out Geirrodur and the 200 Trolls he had at his disposal.
