Despite the fact that everyone has triggers, including you and Stephen, you both had a calm demeanor. This didn't exactly justify having a son or daughter that was so agitated.
When you suddenly opened your eyes, your hands went to cover the pretty noticeable bump that had grown over the course of the previous months. You carefully sat up as you stroked your stomach. There weren't many things that might bother you, but it seems that one of them was your unborn child, who felt it would be a good idea to start learning to swim inside your womb.
Stephen was sleeping soundly next to you, but you couldn't hold it against him. He had recently finished a mission, and it was obvious that he was worn out. You gently squeezed the sorcerer's shoulder while grinning as you stretched out to him. Stephen inhaled deeply as his sleep deepened. A kick started you anew just as you were about to lay down again.
“Alright, alright.” Finally releasing his or her father, you returned to massage your belly as your voice grew drowsy. "You'll bring us excitement, won't you?"
This night is going to be quite long.
Just as you were trying to get into a comfortable position, a sudden craving struck. But you were aware that you were out of peanut butter. You were on the verge of tears just thinking about it. Stupid hormones.
“Y/N?”
You looked at him after your shoulders tensed at your own name. Stephen turned to face you and lifted his head just enough to see you.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, before getting up and putting his hands on yours.
The sorcerer laid his head on your shoulders and touched your stomach while you stiffled a sob and said, "Nothing." As he felt your bundle of joy kicking, he smiled a little.
“It’s not nothing. Tell me what’s wrong, darling. Is there a problem with the baby?” He seemed worried, and you could hear it, but you instantly sought to reassure him that everything is well.
“It's stupid. I only wanted peanut butter, but then I remembered we had run out. I'm not exactly sure why I started crying.” Stephen nodded before giving you a kiss right above your shoulder blade and putting his arm over your back to pull you in.
“It’s not stupid.“ he said as he kissed your hair “Do you want to me go buy some?”
“You don’t have to. It’s 5 in the morning. I’m sure you’re exhausted.” He squeezed you a little tigther in his arms.
“I’m not that tired. And besides.. if my girls are demanding peanut butter, they’ll get it.” You gave a faint chuckle before kissing his cheek.
"You are aware that you don’t need to. We can get it later.” You spoke as you guided his hand, allowing him to feel the baby move as she or he became more calmer.
“Yeah. Though I want to.” He replied, then reached for the base of your chin and kissed you softly.
Stephen climbed out of bed as soon as you pulled away and swiftly snapped his fingers to change out of his pajamas into more casual attire.
“I just noticed that you said "girls." You gave him a dreamy smile as he picked up a tie from the bedside table.
"I think it's a girl," A broad smile spread across his face as he gently shrugged his shoulders.
“Don't be so sure," You teased him as you saw the man in front of you bunning his hair. How did you manage to be so blessed to have a husband like him, let alone have a child with him?
"Well, the appointment is in a week, and trust me, it's going to be a girl," the sorcerer replied. He seemed rather confident of his guess.
“Did you perform a magic spell or something to determine the gender of our baby?” When he heard you say "our," his heart skipped a beat. The idea that he will actually become a father still seems surreal.
“Of course not.” He scoffed slightly “I doubt that such a spell even exists.” He continued while also retrieving his sling ring.
As Stephen drew nearer to you once more, you chuckled a little. "Try to rest a little bit," he said as he tenderly kissed your forehead.
“Tell your baby that.” He leaned out and touched your bumb with both hands, making you smile.
He whispered as he softly kissed your stomach, "Let your mother sleep."
Your heart fluttered as you tried not to melt right there.
“Stephen?” You asked as you looked at the sorcerer standing up
“Hm?” He looked at you with loving eyes
“Can you buy some cucumbers too?”
“Y/N..” His voice sounded like a mixture of warning and disgust, but you continued to look at him with those eyes he loved so much and he let out a sigh of defeat.
“Thank you” smiling you watched as the ex-doctor made a portal and disappear through it.
