NEW YORK
After Bucky told about how he wasn't the only Winter Soldier and that the psychologist could be after something bigger than Bucky, you drove to go and fetch recruits. You would've brought the Royal Talon and brought Bucky and Steve straight to Siberia with it, but you couldn't break into your own home. Especially since the Dora Milaje would likely bring you to T'Challa immediately. You decided that Wanda would be a good addition to your team, just in case Tony tried to stop Steve and Bucky from reaching Siberia. You were going to fetch Clint, but his kids deserved a bit of time with him after Ultron almost sent Sokovia to space.
You put your helmet on as soon as you reached the compound, and you took off one of your kimoyo beads. You throw it at a bunch of bushes, setting off an expolosion to draw Vision away from Wanda. You hurriedly rush into the compound, making your way to the floor that you saw Vision fly out of. Wanda stands there, staring at the fire and smoke. She suddenly uses her powers to lift a knife from the cutting board, aiming straight at your forehead. It drops to the floor once she realizes who you are, and she runs over to give you a hug.
"What are you doing here?" She asks, watching as you attach a kimoyo bead to the wall at a specific angle. "Disappointing my boyfriend," You respond as you attach another kimoyo bead to the wall.
"Come, Steve needs our help." You grab her hand and drag her to the door. You turn back around once you hear Vision phase through the wall. You sigh, hanging your head low as you turn around. "You should be serving your country," Vision starts. "Don't try to tell me what I should be doing. I've always seen you as more than just a bunch of programs working together to keep you alive, Vision. I'd hate to see you any other way," You growl, taking out your claws.
"Please consider the consequences of your actions."
"They're long considered, Vision." The kimoyo beads on the wall aim small bursts of sonic blasts straight at Vision, keeping him from flying to you or phasing out of them. Wanda stops as stares, watching as Vision grunts in pain. You've seen the look on Wanda's face plenty of times before on different people. Guilt. Tony wore that expression once when you caught him watching the news about how he created the robot that tried to wipe the entire universe away. Bruce wore the same face when he found videos about what the Hulk had done under Wanda's control. You knew that look all too well, and you weren't going to let Wanda's own thoughts swallow her whole.
"I've caused enough problems," Wanda mumbles when she realizes you've been staring at her, pulling down her sleeves to cover her hands. You put a hand on her elbow, taking off your helmet and smiling as much as you can right now. "Problems have been made, yes. Those problems require solutions, don't they? You can solve them, but not by sitting in this building." You're caught off guard when Vision knocks you to the floor, hitting your hip. You'll definitely have a bruise later, but you stand up and put your helmet on. Everything happens so fast that by the time you're standing again, Vision has you in a chokehold.
“You can’t overpower me,” Vision whispers in your ear. You turn to Wanda, trying your hardest to convince her to help out since she’s your only way out of this.
”It all starts here, Wanda. You can’t do good if you stay on your ass.”
At that last sentence, Wanda takes control of the stone in Vision’s head. You phase through him, falling to the floor. You move away from Vision right away when you see Wanda gluing him to the floor so hard that it begins to crack.
”Wanda,” Vision grunts, trying to guilt-trip Wanda into letting him go. “If you do this, they will never stop being afraid of you.”
Wanda looks to you and smiles. “I can’t control their fear, only my own.” With that, she pushes Vision all the way into the dirt, making a big hole in the floor.
“Let’s hurry,” You recollect your kimoyo beads and head for the door. “We have one more stop.”
”And where’s that?”
”Steve thinks his.. abilities.. will come in handy if Tony tries to keep them from Siberia.”
”Yeah, do you think you can explain the whole Siberia Winter Soldier UN bombing thing?”
”I don’t have any time to explain all of it,” You tell Wanda as you hop into the front seat of the van you brought with you. She sits on the passenger side. “All I can tell you is that whatever side we’re on is the right side.”
“How can you be so sure?” You whip your head her way at the question. She seems threatened by your reaction so you dial it down a little. “What do you mean?” She doesn’t hesitate in responding truthfully. “How can you be so sure that this is the right side when you keep switching between sides? You signed the Accords, but you’re helping Steve.”
”No government-issued document should stop us from doing what we believe is right. Countries are so upset with the damage that we leave behind that they fail to realize there are greater dangers than us.”
Wanda is rather satisfied with your answer, and she is silent for the rest of the ride.
After you’ve picked up Lang, you meet up with everyone else at an airport in Germany.
“Steve,” You call his name as you hop out of the van. He smiles at your presence, but quickly wipes it away. “You know, you can still head back to Wakanda. I’m sure there’s a jet here that we can get you in.” You feel kind of two-faced at the offer. You want to go home to your country and rest within the safety of the borders, but you could never rest knowing you can help Bucky get back the life that had been stolen from him for 70 years.
”I appreciate the offer, but I cannot accept. I chose this, Steve.” Everyone smiles at your response, including Bucky. Steve then turns to Wanda, nodding at her to silently thank her. “Thanks for having my back,” He says. Wanda turns to you, and then back to Steve. “It was time to get off my ass,” She responds confidently.
“How about our other recruit?” Steve asks.
“He needed to stop at Dunkin’ Donuts, but I think he’s good to go.” With this, you slide open the van door to reveal Lang. He wakes up with the loud bang of the door opening all the way. “What timezone is this?” He groans, and you giggle a bit. It’s clear he’s never gotten involved in anything too serious or messy before. Either way, you like him already.
After Lang introduces himself to Steve and confirms that he absolutely wants to be here, a man hops onto the PA.
”Dies ist eine Notsituation. Alle Passagiere müssen den Flughafen sofort evakuieren.”
You see Bucky open his mouth to translate, but you accidentally talk over him.
”They’re evacuating the airport.”
“Stark,” Sam interjects.
”Suit up,” Steve says almost immediately. “This is gonna be a rough flight.”
Before everyone scatters, you take the opportunity to warn them.
”No one leaves a scratch on T’Challa or I’ll rip you in half.” Steve nods. You didn’t mean to sound so tense, but you were. Your stomach was twisting and turning with how nervous you were.
You hoped with everything that you have that T’Challa wasn’t going to be there when and if you run into Tony.
You hoped even more that you wouldn’t have to lay a finger on him.
