Chapter 14
Over the next 2 hours the Barnes family and their allies moved discretely into position, surrounding one of Dreykovs warehouses. The plan was to cause an explosion to draw Dreykov himself, and hopefully Pierce, out into the open, then take him and as many of his people out as they could.
Bucky was on a rooftop with his best sniper rifle, seething because he wanted to kill Dreykov with his bare hands but his father had insisted, claiming Bucky was too emotionally invested and could make a mistake in the heat of the moment. Bucky knew he was right but didn't care. All he could think about was Dreykovs face when he tore him apart. That bastard was the source of most of the bad in Bucky's life. Well, except for his own stupidity and pride.
Bucky shook his head, he didn't need to pour over all his dumbass decisions. He needed to focus on taking these men down because of what they did to his family. What they did to Y/N's family.
He looked around but there was no activity visible from his perspective and while he knew an explosion would start the action off he had to keep a weather eye for any surprises.

At the same time Thor was moving Y/N to her home since the doctors had finally relented and discharged her from the hospital, under the condition that she have a nurse and a physical therapist visit daily She was wearing a terrible wig, oversized sunglasses and a huge trenchcoat in an attempt to keep her disguised. Plus an uncomfortable bullet proof vest to protect her.
Y/N had initially protested the vest but Thor wouldn't budge.
Thor had consulted with Pietro and they agreed this would be the best time to move her, while Dreykov and Pierce's men were all focused on the fight with Barnes etc.
Once they were away from the hospital Y/N started to feel lighter, like maybe things would pick up. She couldn't wait to be home and sleep in her own bed, eat her mother's cooking instead of the lumpy hospital bed and unpalatable hospital food
.
Unfortunately, some of Dreykovs people were still keeping watch over Y/N, looking for an in. When they saw Thor leaving the hospital with a small group of people they contacted Dreykov for instructions. They were ordered to have 2 men follow him and the other 2 should stay at the hospital in case she was still there. He reiterated his order to take a shot if they got one.
The news of Thor and Y/N's relationship had spread quickly and Dreykov didn't think he would leave her. He thought it was likely she was with him even if his men couldn't see her.
On the way to her house one of the SUV's tires blew. It was just Y/N, Thor and Val in the car so Thor had to get out to change it. He had just gotten started when a spray of bullets hit the SUV, making Y/N scream.
"Where is Thor? Val, is he ok? I have to check on him."
Val held her back "No, Y/N, you stay in here. This SUV is bullet proof and you need to stay safe. I'll check on Thor"
Val looked outside, gun ready, but didn't see anything. "Looks clear they must have just driven by. Stay in the car, they might come back."
Val looked around "Thor? Where did you go?" She called out, hoping he had just taken cover and was alright. When she didn't receive an answer she felt her heart speed up. "Fuck" she mumbled.
Y/N heard her "What's wrong Val? Why hasn't Thor come to check on me?" Her breath hitched "please tell me he's ok" when she heard no response she started crying "Val?"

Pietro was able to sneak into the warehouse with Peter's help, set up some explosives and get back out without being noticed. Once those charges went off the fun began.
The Barnes crew waited patiently for Dreykov and Pierce to show up and they weren't disappointed. It took just over 10 minutes for the line of black SUV's to roll up, even before the fire department showed.
Bucky sat in his perch, itching to go down and start the fight. As soon as he had a clean shot he took out Pierce's men, Rumlow(He always hated that guy) and Rollins(like Rumlow's dumber shadow) were the first to drop and he was able to take out 6 more men before they realized what was going on.
Dreykov panicked for a moment, knowing that staying outside like they were was risky but hiding in a burning building wasn't a much better option.
Pierce, disgusted by the man's indecision started barking out orders, sending Dreykov into one of the SUV's.
Bucky almost had a clear shot to finish Dreykov but his phone rang before he could pull the trigger. He swore but grabbed it to see who it was. When he saw Val's name he answered it right away.
"Val? What the hell is going on."
Val was out of breath "Barnes, we've been hit. A tire blew and we were shot at. Thor is down and Y/N-"
The call disconnected and Bucky roared in frustration. He called Steve and told him he had to go check on her. Steve tried to dissuade, convince him to stay and finish this with no luck before Bucky disconnected the call. Steve told Sam as they made their way towards the warehouse.
Bucky raced down the stairs of the three story building and to his car, almost tripping a couple of times in his rush. He jumped into his SUV, found Vals location and peeled out of the alley. He kept trying to call her but it went straight to voicemail.
In his panic Bucky ran more than one red light and narrowly avoided multiple accidents. All he could think about was getting to her, terrified that he would be too late, that he was already too late.
