Chapter 6
It was after noon on New Years Day when Y/N was woken up by soft kisses on her face and neck "Just a few more minutes baby, I just want you to hold me"
Bucky smirked, she must have been dreaming about him. At least he hoped it was him after last night. "Ma made breakfast, if you're hungry"
She jumped a little "Jamie?" And shook her head "Sorry, I forgot where I was for a minute" she almost said Thor's name, that was close. Juggling the two could be a challenge, she hadn't expected him to be so affectionate.
Bucky chuckled "Not a problem. Happy New Year, doll"
"Yeah, Jamie. You too. Give me a minute to get dressed"
"You don't need to get dressed, your pjs are fine. I have a robe if you get cold, or I can keep you warm" he looked at her with raised eyebrows.
She laughed "A robe will be fine. Don't need to be all over each other in front of your parents."
"They won't mind but a robe it is." He left and returned with a plush robe that had her initials embroidered on it.
She looked at him confused and he blushed and grinned "I figured you might need it. You can leave it here for when we visit my parents."
They spent the morning lazing around, cuddling together, little kisses, watching and discussing football and the parade when the doorbell broke the peace.
The front door was thrown open before anyone could get up to answer it and Nat came bounding into the room "Bucky baby, I have good news-"
She stopped short and her eyes grew wide when she saw Y/N, curled up in Bucky's side. "How is she? Why is she? What the hell Bucky?"
When Bucky realized who it was he stood so quickly that Y/N was dumped onto the floor but before she could say anything her phone rang.
"Clint? What's up?"
"I'm sorry kid but there's been an accident. You need to get to Mercy hospital now" and the call disconnected. She looked at Bucky, then Nat they seemed to be having a stare off. "Jamie? Can you take me to the hospital?"
Bucky turned to look at her but couldn't come up with any words and just stared.
Y/N snorted "Obviously you aren't great in an emergency." She turned to his brother "Steve, could you give me a ride to Mercy hospital?"
Steve smiled softly "Of course."
"Thank you, just give me a minute to get dressed."
Natasha scoffed at Bucky "Nothing to say for yourself? I'm gone for one night and find you wrapped up in her? I'm out there trying to fix things for you, for us, and you're playing house with that bitch? After everything I've done for you? I'd kill you if I didn't love you"
Bucky felt his anger building "Enough Nat. I'm going to marry her and make kids with her. I'm gonna have to touch her. Now, tell me what you've done."
She looked at him with fear, her eyes darting to look at George "In private, later."
Y/N came racing back down the stairs "George, Winnie, thank you for having me it was a lovely evening. I'm sorry to leave like this but I-"
"Don't be sorry dear, you obviously have business to handle." Winnie hugged her while George was distracted by his phone. After she left and George finished his call he turned to look at his son in confusion then to Nat and he felt his anger rising. "James what did you do?"
Bucky shook his head "Nothing. What's going on?"
George walked towards Nat "What have you done? Are you trying to start a war?"
Nat sneered "No, just trying to fix things so Bucky and I can be together. Forever. No princess or baby mama in our way."
Bucky raised his voice "Someone answer me. What's going on?"
George scoffed and looked at Nat "You want to tell him what you did?"
Nat stepped back nervously "I didn't do anything. I don't know what you're talking about. I was at a club all last nite. You can talk to the bartender."
Bucky was at the end of his rope "WHATS GOING ON?!"
George looked at his son sadly "There was a car accident this morning. Y/N's parents were coming back from their cabin and a car blew past a red light and tboned them, then took off. Her father was killed instantly but her mother is in a surgery. They were driving her truck because of the snow."
Bucky looks at Nat "Did you?"
Nat put on her most seductive look and sashayed over to him "Bucky, baby, I would never do something like that without your permission. It could start a war."
He looked at her in disbelief. "Go back to the penthouse until I tell you otherwise."
She trailed a finger down his chest "Why don't you come with me baby, I'll distract you from all this mess."
Bucky grabbed ger hand and pushed it off him "Go. Now. I'll deal with you later."
"I'm not a dog for you to order around" she spat at him and strode out of the house.
Bucky looked at his dad "Why are you staring at me? You heard her father has been killed and her mother is in bad shape. Get your dumb ass to Mercy and be there for your fiance."
Bucky finally realized what was going on and bolted upstairs to get dressed. He took Sam with him to keep him calm. His brain was racing trying to figure out what had happened. His father certainly seemed to think Nat was somehow involved but Bucky couldn't believe she would do that. Regardless of the recent tension, Nat knew what this could cause.
Y/N tried to stay calm on the drive to the hospital but was so scared her mother was hurt that the tears came anyways. Steve tried to console her "I'm sorry my brother is such an idiot, Nat has had him under some kind of spell since they met. I'll stay with you as long as you need."
She mumbled a thank you but her mind was racing. When they arrived at the hospital she ran right into Clints arms, crying "I know princess, we'll figure it all out."
When she calmed he gave her the details. She felt something when he told her that her father was killed instantly but she wasn't sure what it was. They had a contentious relationship from puberty on but he was still her father.
As she sat waiting to hear about her mother who was in surgery, some of her father's men came to offer their respects. She also spoke to Scott and Pietro, telling them to get everything they could on the accident so she would be able to figure out her next steps.
When the doctor came out she stood, holding Clints hand. The doctor offered them a small smile "She's not out of the woods yet and will have a long recovery but the surgery was successful and things look good. We put her into a medically induced coma to help her heal."
After thanking the doctor she went to sit with her comatose mother, telling her about the evening with James and his family, then just making small talk like they were out for tea.
She sat for hours until the nurse came in to check her mother and she went out to the hall while she waited.
Scott approached her "How are you holding up boss?"
She looked at him surprised "Boss?" Then realized she was, since her father was gone. "I'm alright. Do you have anything for me?" She saw Bucky enter the waiting room and nodded at him.
Scott turned around to see Bucky coming up "Are you sure you don't want to talk somewhere private?"
She shook her head "No, We'll be married soon, might as well start working together"
Scott looked nervous "Well, I was able to hack into traffic cameras and some other surveillance in the area. Got a decent picture of the cars plate and ran it.
The car that hit your parents was registered to Barnes Enterprises."
