Chapter 1

One - post-battle banter (and unexpected confessions)

In which Deadpool and Spider man order tacos and sit atop of a building in New York City after a night of patrol.

Wade loudly, and quite obnoxiously to Peter’s demise, chomped on his corner store ‘tacos de chapulines’. Of course, Wade was absolutely oblivious to his noisy chewing, while Peter was not. Peter’s super senses allow him to hear things from a mile away. Which, if you’re looking to defend innocent people is a great thing to have; not so much when you’re sitting next to the world’s loudest eater. Peter grumbled and rolled his eyes. Wade perked up, the eyes on his mask widening,

“What’s wrong, baby boy? The tacos not good?” Peter rolled his eyes once again at Wade’s foolishness, “Well, maybe it’d taste better if you weren’t so loud.” Wade squinted, apparently trying to find a care in the world, because he continued to eat his taco just as he was before. Peter sighed, deciding to let it go for now.

A few minutes passed of silence (not actually if you count Peter’s constant growling and Wade’s loud-ass chewing), Wade piped up, “So, how’s it going with that redhead girl?” Wade drew out the ‘so’ just to annoy Peter, “Her name’s Mary Jane, and nothing’s going on, Wade. We aren’t interested in each other.” Peter had to constantly defend himself towards Wade about not being interested in Mary Jane without outright coming out to Wade. While the two vigilantes knew each other seemingly well, there were just some things that the spider-boy wanted to keep to himself; his sexuality, and his massive, undying, dorky as hell crush on Wade (that he tried to hide from not only others but himself often).

“Oh, come on. You two are always together. Not that I’m saying you should ask her out or anything, but you can’t deny it, Spidey.” Wade also had to somewhat hide his massive crush on Peter, somewhat. Peter grumbled, as he often does around Wade, “Just drop it, asshole.” Wade put his hand on his chest and looked to the side for dramatic effect, acting as if he was horribly hurt by the snarky comment, “Spidey! I can’t believe you’d ever address me that way! I’m utterly offended.” Peter smirked, rolling his eyes (which, again, he does a lot around his patrol partner).

Peter went back to munching on his almost finished taco, Wade watching him. The two knew each other’s identities by now, hell, they even went to the same school. Wade preferred to have his mask on around Peter when they weren’t in a normal everyday setting, it gave him a way to hide his true emotions and ideals. Peter, however, became rather comfortable with having his mask off around Wade. Honestly, it was a surprise to Wade because of how many sarcastic and outright rude comments Peter would make.

Peter’s sweaty, brunette, wavy hair was in his face, his brown doe eyes looking at his food. His knuckles red and bloody, nose scratched up from the fight they had previously engaged in; nothing much, just a few late night muggers. Wade admired Peter. He wanted to be him. He wanted to be with him. “Oh shit!” Peter snaps Wade out of his lovey-dovey trance when he realized the time, “Shit! It’s like 12. I gotta get back. You should too. We’ve got school tomorrow.”

Wade smirks, “Of course, baby boy. I’ll see you at school tomorrow. Don’t miss me too much, kay?” he blows Peter a kiss before Peter rolls his eyes and quickly, and quite messily, throws his Spider-man mask over his head. He waves to Wade before shooting a web on a nearby building. Wade sits on the ledge of the building for a few more minutes. He was finally, finally, realizing that he was falling for Peter. Hard. He wanted to do something about it. Desperately, he wanted to confess, but his insecurities always got in the way of that. He didn’t want to ruin what he and Peter already had. He was lucky enough to even know Peter, let alone be in a closer relationship with him. Wade sighs and decides it’s time to go home.

Peter wakes up in his oh-so comfortable bed and yawns, stretching his arms out. He ruffled his bed head before getting up to get ready for school. He threw on a slightly oversized white tee and a plain jean jacket over it. He slipped some jeans on, brushed his curls out, and ran out of the house (saying goodbye to his aunt May beforehand, of course). He checked his phone for the time and huffed a breath of relief as he realized that he had enough time to walk there. He was pretty bored, why not text Wade? I mean, he didn’t hate Wade. He liked him. A lot. Peter found himself mindlessly walking as he admired Wade’s stupid, dorky humor and his acts of kindness through gifts and his compliments and- “What the fuck?” Peter stopped dead in his tracks, mumbling under his breath, “Oh shit, I like… like Wade.”

Peter had always felt a sense of comfort around Wade, and always looked forward to seeing him but he never would’ve guessed that it was romantic. I mean, he did, late at night after every single patrol he had with Wade, but he had always pushed those thoughts far down. He was barely able to come to terms with the fact that he probably liked guys romantically, let alone liking Wade. His eyes stayed widened the entire walk to school, Peter analyzing every single interaction he ever had with Wade.

Wade, on the other hand, was terribly late. He slept in. Not that his parents would care, they didn’t care much about him anyway, but he still liked to think that someone at school would miss him if he wasn’t there. He got ready for school, lazily tossing a Spider-man shirt over himself, grabbing a pair of sweats and ruffling his dirty blonde almost-but-not-quite-mullet. He rubbed his face, hoping to wake himself up better. It didn’t really work, so he just walked out the door. Not a word as he walked all the way to school. All he could seem to think about was Peter. Stupid things like, ‘is Peter at school today?’, ‘did Peter think about him?’, and some angsty teen thoughts like, ‘does Peter even think about me?’, ‘would he even notice if I was gone?’

His thoughts were interrupted as he heard the faint sound of the high school. He walked up Midtown High’s steps and sighed before opening the doors. He saw a few kids at their lockers, the rest in first period. He walked in the front office and grabbed a tardy slip, eventually handing it to his english teacher.

The school day passed. Wade and Peter subtly smiled at each other in the halls, nothing more. Both were disappointed. Peter would never admit that, and Wade would only jokingly admit it to get a reaction out of Peter later in the day during patrol. Both thought of each other all day, not suspecting that the other was also wanting to confess.

The school day was surprisingly over quickly, and so was the rest of the day. Peter studied for a science test, while Wade just sat at home listening to music while his parents argued over something stupid. God, Wade’s parents never shut up. Maybe that’s where he got it from.

As soon as the night came, Peter and Wade got ready for patrol. May was sound asleep. Wade’s father was probably drunk at some bar, his mother passed out on the couch. They suited up and met at a robbery a few blocks from Peter’s apartment. After they had easily shot down the robbers, a few more muggers, some asshole in an alley, and saved a cat from being torn apart by some stray dogs, they grabbed burritos and sat atop of the same building they had the night before.

Both were silent after patrol. They ate in somewhat silence, both wanting to say so much but not having the courage. Peter finally said something after finishing his burrito, “Wade. We- we have to talk,” his voice was trembling, he was visibly nervous. Blush plastered across his face and his palms were sweaty. Wade swallowed the bite he had taken and set his food down on the wrapper next to his thigh, “Yeah, baby boy? What’s up?” Wade pretended to be confident and funny in the moment, but inside his mind he was overthinking every single thing he was doing and every single thing he’s ever done before. He was worried that Peter had gotten tired of him, that he wanted nothing to do with him. That he wasn’t comfortable around Wade any-

“I like you.”

Wade choked. He cocked his head to the right, “Spidey, I’m flattered, but are you drunk?” he questioned, “I know you can’t get drunk because of your metabolism blah blah blah, but seriously. What the fuck is going on with you?” Wade wouldn’t allow himself to believe that the Peter Parker liked him. He must’ve been dreaming.

“Wade. I… Listen, I don’t want to admit it but I’ve fallen for you. Romantically. Fuck, this is weird. I don’t know how to do this confession type of shit but I hope… I mean I hope this doesn’t change anything between us. Or maybe it will, in a good way.” Peter was rambling out of his mind, his nerves taking over his body. His voice was shaky, he was looking at his hands and picking at his nails.

“Spidey… I’ve liked you since like, forever.” Wade smirked, his heart beating out of his chest. ‘Please, fuck, say something, Pete.’ he thought to himself. He just wished that he wasn’t hallucinating and didn’t just embarrass the hell out of himself.

Peter looked as if he was thinking deeply. He looked at wade right in the eyes (well, the eyes of his mask). He pulled the mask off of Wade swiftly and kissed him. Wade’s eyes were wide in the beginning, Peter’s screwed shut. Peter pulled back after a few seconds, breathing hard.

“Woah.” They said in unison, slying smiling and looking down.
