“Have you ever wanted to explore space?” Sam asks out of the blue, catching Miles off guard. They were playing video games, Mario kart specifically, when Sam asked Miles, so as Miles processed what Sam asked, Sam got ahead.
“Dude! Come on” Miles groaned, Sam only laughed in response. Because of the distraction, Sam finishes the round in first place, and Miles pauses the game. “So, are you being like, serious, or was that just a distraction?”
“It was a genuine question, cause like dude, I can fly you out there right now.”
“I, don’t like space. Especially compared to you.” Miles laughs a bit “So I would be kinda pointless don’t you think?
“Awww come on dude! It’s better than you think,” Sam practically whines. Miles rolls his eyes and attempts to put the game back on. Sam grabs Miles's wrists and gives him a form of puppy dog eyes. Miles groans, realizing he isn’t going to escape this.
“Sorry bucket, I just don’t like space, you know this. I mean the last two times we went to space it didn’t turn out well did it?” Sam dramatically collapses, taking up the whole space of the couch and laying on miles, gasping dramatically.
“How *dare* you! Space is amazing and those two encounters mean nothing, *nothing*!” Miles laughs, cheeks turning a slight shade of pink. Sam then gets up in Miles's face and says, “You know what, today we are changing your view on space!” practically shouting the last bit
“Fine, but only if you get out of my face,” Miles sighs, almost laughing at the same time. Miles just finds that when Sam really wants something, he just can’t say no to him. As Sam runs off, yelling about something, Miles gets up and turns off the game. Being around Sam, makes Miles feel, special. Don’t get it wrong, he loves the other champions and Kamala, but Sam was just always able to make Miles smile and feel special or loved. Miles snaps out of his thoughts as he hears Sam running back, Smiling like a little kid.
“Come on, let's go” Sam throws Miles his costume and pushes him to go change. Sam was going to finally do it. Thanks to Sam's helmet, no one could see just how much he was blushing, but just by looking at him, you can tell he’s excited. He was going to do it. After so much convincing from Kamala, He was finally going to take Miles out on a date (even if Miles didn’t know it was a date) and ask him out. Sam hypes himself up as Riri walks by, giving him a weird look
“Are you ok Sam?” Riri pauses for a second, confused. Sam only excitedly nods. Riri shrugs and continues walking, just as Miles gets back from changing. Sam slowly stops bobbing up and down and takes Miles's hand.
“You ready to see just how amazing space is?” Sam asks Walking outside. Sam notices how seeming uncomfortable Miles seems. Makes sense, this would be the first time going to space, not in a spaceship. “Do you want me to count us off before I throw us up into space? Like 3, 2, 1 blastoff or something?” Sam asks, putting his hands on Miles's shoulders. Miles nods and Sam smiles back. “Oh, and one last thing? Have this so that you can you know, breathe” Sam states while giving Miles an oxygen mask.
“Thanks, I do like living.” Miles sarcastically states while putting on the mask. “So where are we heading to?’ Sam pauses to think, before starting to move to a comfortable position to pick up Miles.
“I was thinking first Saturn's asteroid ring and then the moon, just to get you used to space,” Sam puts his hands around Miles' hips and blushes as he does. At this moment they are as close together as they would be when hugging. “So, you ready?”
“As ready as I would ever be,” Miles puts his hands on Sam's shoulder, webbing himself slightly. Miles awkwardly smiles. “Just, just in case you know,” Sam laughs and smiles, putting Miles at ease.
“Alright!” Sam begins, attempting to lock eyes with Mile’s mask, “3”
“2”
“1”
“*Blastoff*!”
Suddenly Miles found himself among the stars, simply just floating there was Sam, Little sparks of the Nova force radiation off of Sam, making Sam himself seem like a powerful, magnificent, star. As Miles looked around he could admit that space was beautiful, dangerous, but beautiful. With all the power Sam has, he could be described the same way.
“So, whatcha thinking?” you could practically hear the smile on Sam's face. Now resting his head on Miles
“I think you’re relishing the fact that for once you’re taller than me,” Miles sarcastically states after brief silence, Miles finally admits “It looks, stunning” Sam sighs
“Guess what, It only gets better, but you're going to have to release the webbing,”
“What! Nooo,” Miles whines, now hugging Sam with his arms and legs. Sam laughs and Miles continues to whine, “Don’t laugh! I don’t wanna get lost in the void of space!” Miles feels completely embarrassed, but it's also an excuse for him to get closer to Sam.
“Do you want to go back down?” Sam's tone is very obviously sad, but he doesn’t want to make Miles uncomfortable. Miles pauses, picking up on Sam’s tone.
“No, we can continue,” Miles lightens his grip and removes the webbing, still being practically carried by Sam.
“To the asteroid belt, we go then” Sam changes his grip and moves Miles to where he is bridal carrying him, which Miles didn’t object to. They both stayed silent during the flight, but both were blushing. “Here we are”
“This is pretty,” Miles says, then getting put down onto an asteroid
“Not only is it pretty, but it’s fun, especially running asteroid to asteroid,” Sam moves to a different astroid from Miles, shaking it a bit and putting him off balance. “You’re it!” Sam shouts before moving about three astroid down. Miles unconfedently follows Sam, being much more careful than the other.
“You’re not allowed to use your helmet!” Miles shouts ahead, Sam laughing in response, Miles likes Sam’s laugh, it makes him forget about the fear of space. Wanting now only focus on Sam. Time seemingly froze as they jumped around the asteroids, laughing and telling jokes with no care in the world. Sam tackles Miles from behind, sending them both flying from the asteroids. “Hey, uh, Sam?” Once Miles says “Sam” a calming blue glow engulf’s both Sam and him. Miles smiles and lets Sam reposition him. The next moment they a blasting through the stars and are floating above the moon.
“Hey Miles, Can you look down to the moon for me?” Sam can feel his heart pacing, He’s finally going to do it. But what if this ends terribly, what if Miles hates him? He’s already gone this far, so we can’t back down now. As Miles looks down he see’s it. Engraved into the moon in the question “Will you date me? -Nova” and Miles is shocked. Miles face turns bright red as he then turns to look at sam, who is awkwardly smiling and blushing. They slowly float down and Sam drops of Miles who is still stunned, looking at the ground. “Uh, a-” Sam tries to speak, but, can’t. Sam sigh and walk away to start cleaning up the note. Miles removes his mask revealing his face and looks over to Sam.
“Sam!” MIles grabbes Sam’s attention and run leaps into Sam’s arms. “I love you,” Sam pauses, face now as red as Miles, and then hugs him but with a big smile.
“I love you too” Sam and Miles release each other share a small little kiss. Sam laughs fall to the floor.
“Are you ok?”
“I’m great! I’ve just got accepted by my crush” Sam says, laughing between every word. Leading Miles to follow sams lead. For the rest of the time they spent in space they laid on the moon and talked for what felt like hours.
“You now Sam, I think I have a better view on space” Sam turns over to Miles and smile, showering Miles in hugs and kisses.
