One Monday afternoon, Yaki returned home after a work shift, being completely exhausted. Physically, she was fine and had enough energy… but mentally, she was drained. Dealing with customers in a retail setting for eight hours took all the power out of her- drying up any complicated thinking. Thankfully, most did not question or ask her anything personal, and her managers told her to seek them out if anyone gave her trouble… even so, she was always anxious.
Opening the door to her apartment, Yaki found Kiko typing away on her laptop, sitting on the couch. The Fox took notice of her girlfriend entering, smiling at her entrance. “Hey gorgeous… how was work?” Placing her laptop on the seat, she got up to give a hug and kiss to Yaki, who relished in the affection.
“Tiring… but otherwise good. I just am so tired right now...” The two sat down together, with Yaki leaning into Kiko’s neck, purring as their tails wrapped around each other. “You have no idea how much I needed this… mhhmm...”
Kiko could not hold still as she planted kisses on her girlfriend's cheek- ruffling her hair and ears to earn more purring out of the Raccoon. “Cute… here, let me finish up this chapter for my story…”
“And then…?” Yaki asked curiously, swiftly being pulled closer to Kiko's body in response- who’s hand rested on her small waist. Slowly, Kiko's hand began lingering up and down her side, eliciting a shiver from the Raccoon.
“… and then maybe I will make you feel nice and relaxed.” Kiko said in a low, breathy tone, causing Yaki to melt at the words alone. “You would like to have all those tensions relieved, I imagine… but you will have to be patient!” Nodding, Yaki cuddled with her girlfriend as she watched her type away, loosing track of the time. Soon, Yaki dozed off, and once Kiko finished, she closed her laptop, placed it on the coffee table, and rubbed Yaki’s ears. Soon Yaki began to stir, opening her eyes slowly as she let out a relieved yawn “Did you have a nice nap, sleepy head?”
Yaki nodded unable to get a word out as her ears were rubbed. Soon she closed her eyes, leaning in more as her face and ears became warm “That feels… nice…” soon Yaki let out more purrs, and she could not hold back any longer, turning her head to kiss Kiko. Her girlfriend then giggled into the kiss, pressing into it more as she took ahold of Yaki’s waist, with one hand moving under her girlfriends shirt, massaging the soft girl’s stomach, then moving a hand up to her chest. “I… Kiko…” Yaki said breathlessly, letting out more gasps as she was massaged under her shirt, squirming around from her girlfriends touch.
“Hmmmmmm? Does that feel good?” Kiko teased, getting a whimper back in confirmation. To respond, Kiko moved her face to Yaki’s pale neck, trailing her tongue around it before she began to suck and kiss on it, causing the little Raccoon to mewl “My, you’re getting worked up from all this alone?” The Kitsune teased, deciding to mark her girlfriend as hers with a love bite.
“Kik- Oh god...” Yaki moaned, shuddering as she felt her body instinctively move and lean back, becoming a panting mess, becoming lost in the ecstasy… and suddenly, her cell phone went off on speaker, disturbing the two as they both looked to the table to read the text “Mom” on the screen, with Kiko stopping what she was doing to let Yaki answer it “Oh… I um… should pick that up.” With a tap of the screen, Yaki placed the phone to her ear “Hello mother!”
“Hello darling! How are you doing? It’s been a while!” Yaki’s mother asked cheerfully “Me and your father have missed you, you know!”
Yaki felt a surge of guilt, as she has not seen her mother in a month, and her father… much longer “I am good! I just got a new job recently and been working a ton… and I have missed you to!”
“Oh that’s great! What kind of job is it-” and so their conversation went on for a solid ten minutes about work and other life things, all while Kiko continued to type her story all while she listened “- So honey, I must ask, do you live with your one friend still… Kiko was it?”
Yaki looked over to her “friend” who she was just being touched and kissed by moments ago “Um, yeah… I do. We are doing great… um…” Yaki look over to Kiko who gave a questioning look, causing her to feel more nervous “Hey… mom… can I um, tell you something?”
“Oh of course darling, what is it?” her mother asked, and there was a pause “… sweetie, are you there-”
“Were dating.” There was another pause “Me and Kiko are dating.” Yaki got no response from her mother, becoming anxious “Hello?”
“… I am surprised you never told me, or was this recent? I thought she only liked other girls.” Her mother asked curiously, with Yaki and Kiko both looking at each other.
Yaki felt absolutely horrible, while Kiko looked ever so annoyed mouthing something off Yaki did not quite catch “She does… she is lesbian… and I’m a girl… remember?”
There was another pause, but only brief “Right… my apologies… you know we should go out for dinner on Friday: you, your girlfriend, me, and your father! We can go to a nice Italian restaurant, how does that sound?”
Yaki began to panic, looking over to Kiko who just seemed… not against it, giving a nod and shrug. “Yeah, we can do that.”
“Great! I can’t wait to see you two then, love you honey!” Then the phone clicked and the call ended, with Yaki letting her phone fall out of her hand onto the floor.
“So… guess I am meeting your parents finally?” There was a brief moment of silence as Yaki just nodded in response. “So wait… how does she know I’m gay?”
Yaki gulped, looking away “So… you remember how when we first met and began dating, I was still in the closet not even on hormones, but you still accepted me as a woman?”
Kiko was confused, but nodded “Yeah… I remember, and your parents had no idea you were trans, or bi.”
“Right… and um… well my mom began asking who I was going to see, then my dad, and when I said it was a new friend, they asked for your name, so I just said your first name and they got excited, asking if we were a thing…”
Suddenly, the all began to click to Kiko “… so I take it since this was before you came out, and when we were still testing the waters between us…”
“… I just said we were friends, and when my dad insisted I ask you out, I said you were not into guys…” Yaki looked back up to Kiko, meeting her eyes “… and I guess at the time, I felt you were just being nice but saw me as a guy still, so I never thought… we would be here now.”
Kiko suddenly took Yaki into a tight hug as the two rocked back and forth a bit before backing up to look at each other “You were always a woman to me, Yaki… and still are, obviously.” Holding her girlfriends hands, Kiko rubbed them “So… if I remember right we decided to be girlfriends, and planned to get an apartment… but what did you tell your parents?”
Yaki looked visibly uncomfortable, looking down at her hands “So… when it came to us moving in, I knew I had to tell my parents something, especially with how I let my hair grow out and how I began acting… so I came out to them, and said you and me were just going to live together while I focus on transition.” She paused, her lip beginning to quiver “I… um… was yelled at by my father, and my mother was too shocked to say anything, so I just ran. My mother called me a few days later apologizing for my father, and said she was confused but accepted me how I was… and over the past year we been dating, I seen her a few times and we would talk and such… but I haven’t seen or talked to my father since.”
Kiko felt her heart break, hugging Yaki yet again “I am so sorry Yaki… I never knew that was how… I just knew you and your mom talked, but…” She understood why Yaki never talked about her father, and she never asked to be respectful. “Are you sure… about Friday?”
Yaki was unsure, and as if her girlfriend could tell, Kiko backed up from the hug to get a look at her “I… am sure. I want to see them… and I want them to see how far I’ve come… and to meet you… maybe my father will open up.”
Kiko was unsure herself, but she supported the idea and was going to be hopeful. “Alright… I am with you every step of the way... now, we need to find something perfect for you to wear!”
As the week gone by, Friday finally came, and Yaki was nervous as heck, fretting over it the entire time, but Kiko would calm her down. As they prepared, Kiko wore a blazer, dress pants, and a shirt to match, topping her appearance off with black and a subtle amount of makeup, nothing too much.
Yaki was wearing a skirt, tights, dress shoes, and a blouse with a cardigan, with Kiko painting her nails in the pattern of the trans flag, and doing her makeup, not being too much, but more than herself. To top everything off, Yaki had a golden pendant, a colorful bracelet, and earrings… clip on one’s to be exact, which were a challenge to put on due to her twitchy ears.
The time came, and Kiko drove the two, and the entire ride Yaki was panicking “Everything will be fine… and you look beautiful.” Kiko reassured her girlfriend.
Yaki sighed, trying to sit as still as possible “Thanks Kiko… and you are to.” Finally they made it to the restaurant, an expensive place but one the bill was going to be split on naturally. Upon entering, Yaki was shaking as she rarely dressed up in such a manor, especially going out like this, but she did love the feeling. Upon being guided to their table, her parents were already present being hard to miss as they had the same ears, tails, and eye mask like their daughter. Yaki felt she was going to pass out, but Kiko grabbed her hand, looking at her one more time to comfort her, and the two walked over holding each others hands. Yaki’s parents looked and noticed their child and her girlfriend coming over “HI mom… hi dad… long time no see-” Yaki was suddenly cut off as she was hugged by her mother.
“Oh sweetie… it’s good to see you… and this must be your girlfriend, Kiko right?” her mother turned to face Kiko and offered a hug as well “It is so nice to meet you!”
Kiko smiled, accepting the hug “It is nice to meet you to, both of you, Mr. and Mrs. Rakunu.”
Yaki then looked to her father who was still silent, just staring at her with a blank expression… or was it an uncomfortable one? “Hello father.” Yaki said nervously, and all she got back was a nod.
“Son.” He responded with, and already Yaki and Kiko could tell this was going to go horribly.
Yaki tried her best to keep her composure, sitting down as Kiko and her mother did as well. Oh my god this is going to be a disaster I never should of agreed to this- Yaki snapped out of her thoughts as she realized her mother was asking a question “Oh! I am sorry I dozed off… what were you asking mom?”
Her mother laughed “You have not changed one bit… still the same child… I wanted you to introduce us to your girlfriend!” She said excitedly.
“Oh! Right, heh…” looking over to Kiko, Yaki put on her best smile “Mom… dad… this is my girlfriend, Kiko… Kiko Lisica. We been together since I moved out-”
“I thought you said she was gay, Kuzu?” Yaki's father interrupted, using her dead name to pour salt in the wounds.
Yaki was speechless, stuttering as she could barely come up anything to say, but instead, Kiko spoke up “I am, I like women only.”
Yaki’s father looked confused, staring at his child “Then why are you dating my son?”
Kiko mentally wanted to slug the man, but she smiled, keeping her composure to stay calm “Because she is a woman who happens to be attracted to women also.” Kiko had no idea what Yaki’s dead name was… and she never asked as it was not her name, so hearing it be used casually annoyed her greatly.
There was a silence for a moment, with Kiko and Yaki staring down each other, her mother appearing worried, and Yaki staring down at the table trying to keep herself together “Ahem, are you all ready to order drinks?” a lady asked, and everyone turned their heads not realizing their waitress was present.
Ordering their drinks, the waitress left as all they were left with was the sounds of the restaurant. “Yaki… tell us about your now job!” her mother started, trying to get some kind of topic going.
Yaki looked up, appearing nervous but gave a smile. She talked about her job, being a retail position at a convenient store and pharmacy. It was medium to slow pace but it kept her calm and collected, handling it better than her last job… and she had great coworkers to that she spoke fondly of.
Next, Kiko talked about herself. She worked as a waitress herself at a five star restaurant. It was a demanding position but she was paid a lot, and made most her money off of tips, and she took online classes as well for college.
“What do you go to school for?” Yaki’s father asked, sounding genuinely curious.
“I am majoring in Psychology. I hope to be a therapist one day.” Kiko said, and Yaki’a father seemed impressed. “I am in my second semester so it’s still quite early and will take quite some time.”
Nodding, Yaki’s father looked over to her “Have you considered going back to school, Kuzu?”
Yaki’s smile slowly vanished as her brows furrowed “I um… I don’t know. It was really stressful and I don’t know what I want to do…”
“But you had good grades… and had perfect attendance. You use computers a lot, ever try thinking of Cyber Security or Computer Science?” He asked, wanting to know where his child’s head was.
“Um… I don’t know. I just don’t have any interest in the two, and college was really difficult to keep up with.” Yaki said, praying it would be enough to change the topic, but it seemed her rather was not done yet.
“I’m just worried for you is all, son.” Her father said “You should of finished school… or get a state job to have a steady income…”
Yaki wanted to say otherwise, but realistically, she barely made enough to pay for the other half of rent, where Kiko made most the money. She knew part time, minimum wage work was not enough… but this new job she felt comfortable enough at “… I know, it’s just I had a hard time with some other jobs… they were too stressful.”
“But did they pay more and give more hours?”
“Yes, but I couldn’t handle them anymore.”
“Why?”
“I… they were stressful-”
“You need to toughen up and stick it out. I don’t like my job, and I hated many past jobs, but it pays good and keeps a roof over the head.”
Yaki looked down, becoming monotone and robotic “Yeah…”
“Yeah what?”
“Yeah- sorry I… understand.”
“But do you, Kuzu? You are so focused on playing dress up that you care more what people think about you than your own future.”
Yaki felt a heart string be pulled. She wanted to speak up, she really did, but she couldn’t bring herself to say anything that would potentially upset her father even more. “… I’m sorry.”
“Kuzu,” her father said “I love you, but you are my son, and I am worried for you.”
Again, Yaki apologized, with her mother not commenting on a thing… where Kiko however was struggling to keep a straight face, ready to jump out of her sea and smack Yaki’s father with the chair. Taking a deep breathe, she exhaled, trying to remain calm “College is not for everyone… and many can be successful without it.” Yaki’s father looked at Kiko, appearing skeptical “She might not know what she wants to do now… but Yaki will find it one day, and I am here to support her all the way.”
Yaki cracked a little smile, along with her mother… yet her father let out a grunt, and before he could say anything, their meals arrives already, and they all dug in. Kiko had fried Calamari, and Yaki had Stuffed Shells, while her parents had a Chicken Parmesan “Kiko… you need to try one of these, they are great!”
Trying one, Kiko enjoyed the taste of it, thinking of something that would he cute. She stuck her fork in a fried Calamari, dipped it in sauce, and moved it to Yaki “Babe… try this, you will love it.”
Appearing nervous, being her parents were watching, Yaki ate the Calamari right off of Kiko’s fork, loving the taste, Yaki was beaming with joy “Its soooo goooood!~”
Yaki’s mother loved the sight, finding it adorable… meanwhile her father hated every moment of it. The two girlfriends began talking about their interests, and Yaki’s mother talked about her sewing. “So, Yaki… how has your transition been going?”
Yaki was surprised the question came up, but she was happy regardless “Its going good! I have never felt more happy and comfy with myself-”
“Do you still have your prick?” Everyone was shocked at the question coming from her father, but there was no response “You say you’re a woman now, but do you have that tail between your legs still?”
Yaki was speechless, and she knew she could not lie her way out of it for the life of her "I… that’s personal-”
“Women don’t have cocks, Kuzu… nor are lesbians into that sort of thing.” Kiko let her anger visibly show, not giving a damn anymore, while Yaki looked absolutely heart broken.
“What the fuck is your problem?” Kiko finally snapped, voice slightly raised “How could you treat your daughter like this or ask such a personal question. That’s her business and hers only-”
“Kiko, please!” Yaki said, reaching for her girlfriends hand “It’s fine… really.”
Kiko looked at her girlfriend and the hollow state she was in broke her “No. It’s not.” Looking over to Yaki’s father again, she was enraged “How dare you disrespect such a loving, sweet, caring person? She is just being herself and you’re demonizing her… your own daughter. Can’t you see she is happier now?!” Kiko’s voice was raising more, and more heads began to turn their way.
“I created him… he is my son, and I named him… if Kuzu wants to be some woman… than my son mine as well be dead.”
Kiko was about to say something, but the sound of a chair was moving and she looked to her right to see Yaki standing, staring down at the table, with what looked like tears streaming down her face and a quivering lip. “I’m… sorry, father… mother.”
Kiko was beyond enraged, but knew the last thing she could do was make more a scene than she already has. Looking to Yaki’s mother who just looked away, she looked back to her father with a burning hatred “If I see or hear you disrespect my beautiful girlfriend one more time, I promise you, you won’t like what I will do.” It seemed to of worked, as Yaki’s father did not say a word. Sighing, Kiko took off her blazer and draped it lover Yaki’s shoulders as she was shivering which she tended to do when upset. “Come on… let’s go, Yaki.”
Being guided out of the restaurant, the couple got into their car and Kiko drove, with the two remaining silent. Upon making it home, Yaki took off Kiko’s blazer, despite still shivering, and handed it back “Here...” Kiko took it and hung it up, and watched as Yaki just… stood there freezing, and soon she began to hyperventilate. Swiftly, Kiko picked her up and sat down with her on their bedside, and Yaki broke down into a fit of tears “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry! I never should have had us go!”
Kiko was heartbroken at seeing Yaki like this, but it was not as broken as what Yaki must of felt “Shhh… you have nothing to apologize for, love…” holding Yaki close, Kiko wrapped her arm around the Raccoons head as she rocked her gently back and fourth “Let it all out… it’s okay…”
Yaki cried for a good five more minutes before she finally calmed down and cleaned her nose “I’m sorry, Kiko… I’m sorry I’m… such a mess… and a freak.”
Frowning, Kiko placed her hands on Yaki’s shoulders “Look at me… you are not a mess, got it? Or a freak… I might be stepping out of line but… fuck your father, he did this to you.”
Yaki looked horrified, shaking her head “No… he’s my father… he is right… he loves and cares for me-”
“Yaki, he loves the memory of his son, not you.
“But… I am his son… I’m K-”
Placing a hand over her girlfriends mouth, Kiko silenced her “Don’t you dare call yourself that. You’re his daughter, you’re Yaki, and he does not love you for who you are.”
“But… he’s my father… and my mother-”
“She’s not any better, enabling him and doing nothing to defend you: her own daughter.”
Yaki looked conflicted, slowly hyperventilating again “But… their my parents! They have to be right-”
“Fuck your parents.” Kiko said in rage “Yaki… if your father loved you, he would be supporting and accepting of you, defending you and calling you their daughter and by your name, not saying how you make him uncomfortable and are an embarrassment to your family… and your mother just enabled him the whole time, never standing up for you once.”
“But… my mother calls me sweetie and honey and-”
“She never once called you Yaki, or her daughter, only her child as if she avoided calling you what you are.”
The damn broke again: Yaki hugged Kiko tightly as she shook violently, crying her eyes out, letting out all kinds of sound that were of pure agony, frustration, and sorrow. Her back and head were rubbed as she mewled, letting out everything that tormented her. After what felt like ages, Yaki finally calmed down, blowing her nose as she- while still fully dressed- lied down on the bed “I feel so empty… I don’t think I ever cried… so hard in my life.”
Kiko kissed Yaki's cheek, getting close to spoon and hold her “It’s good to let it all out… or else risk feeling worse as you strain yourself.” A silence fell between the two, as they shifted closer to each other until their bodies were fully pressed against each other, with Yaki’s tail moved to the side and wrapped around her. Soon, her tail wagged a little, but she tried to control it the best she could, but to no avail, she felt Kiko stroke it “You can let it move you know… I like seeing you happy."
While Yaki was not inherently happy that moment, she enjoyed the contact as it comforted her, which always resorted to her tail wagging. Soon it began to slow down and fell to the side as Yaki relaxed ever muscle in her body, and then her breathing calmed and became more gentle as she slowly drifted off “I… love… yo-” her sentence died as her body already began to enter a deep sleep, with every muscle giving out. Soon Yaki was into a deep slumber, and despite Kiko could not see it, she had a faint smile as she passed out.
Moving her face to Yaki’s twitchy ears, Kiko lowered her voice “I love you… so much Yaki…” she said in a hushed whisper, holding her girlfriend as she herself began to sleep.
The morning came, and Yaki let out a yawn. Sitting up she rubbed her eyes to look around “Good morning Kiko…” as her vision became less blurry, Yaki noticed Kiko was not in bed, but the kitchen section of their small apartment, making breakfast.
Looking over to her girlfriend while preparing food, Kiko gave a warming smile “Good morning Yaki… how did you sleep? I woke up a little early to make us some pancakes.”
Yaki got up, realizing she herself was still wearing her dinner attire “I slept good… though I should change before I eat.” Changing without a care, Yaki took off and hung her nice clothes as she tossed on a t shirt and shorts to be more comfy. Walking behind Kiko, she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend and buried her nose into Kiko’s neck.
“Hey babe… around noon, wanna go to the park for a walk?” Kiko asked “It is going to be in the seventies today… the perfect weather.”
Yaki purred at the idea, moving her head to be next to Kiko’s “I am down….but I am more of a sixties gal. I sweat easily.”
Giggling, Kiko turned her head to kiss Yaki, then returning to focus on breakfast. The two ate, cleaned up, and once noon came around, they left for the park. Kiko had on a t-shirt and leggings, something relatively simple, while Yaki was wearing one of her favorite outfits… a purplish-pink zipper hoodie and beanie and sneakers, with the first two having mint green accents. Under the hoodie was a white crop top that exposed her belly button and collar bone. She had light blue denim shorts, and dark grey-brownish thigh high stockings that went well past her knees. Her shorts of course had a little hole around the upper behind for her tail, and her beanie she actually gave two little holes for her ears to pop out through.
Kiko just looked at Yaki, Giggling at her “What’s so funny?” The Raccoon asked.
“Oh, it’s not that something is funny,” Kiko began “But that you are absolutely adorable... my Loving little Raccoon."
Blushing, Yaki grabbed ahold of Kiko’s hand as they walked to the park, which was within walking distance. Finally making it, the two walked around the relatively small lake, only being about two miles around, taking breaks at benches and little rest stops, passing by other park goers, with most just saying hello to be polite. Yaki was always anxious, but Kiko held her hand the entire time, taking initiative to say hello back, with Yaki giving a smile or wave . One elderly couple commented on how adorable they were, and a few older women commented on Yaki’s outfit, saying how cute it was. As they finished and sat down on the grass, surrounding by other people, Yaki rested her head on Kiko’s shoulder “That… was tiring…” Kiko looked over worried to Yaki, but she smiled back to reassure her she was fine “Physically, that is… I’m not all that fit, eheh.”
Giggling, Kiko leaned into Yaki as they sat there, tails wrapping against each other “Did you enjoy yourself, love?”
“Very much so, yes.” Looking to the lake, people already were fishing, which made Yaki snort when she saw a person with cat ears and a tail placing their hands in the lake to grab a fish. The two laughed over it, continuing to sit together and enjoy the ambience of people talking, fishing, children playing on the swing sets, and the sounds of the lake and breeze. “Hey, Kiko?”
“Yes hon?”
“I love you… and thank you, for everything.”
Kiko smiled, kissing Yaki in a long, drawn out kiss “I love you to… and you are very welcome.” The two sat together for a bit more, until children ran by to a parked ice cream truck. Both the young women looked at each other, having the same exact thoughts, with Kiko leading Yaki by the hand as they ran to get ice cream, either without a care in the world.
