Admittance not surrender

Ch1

The sisters spent their last night in Connecticut lounging by the motel’s pool. Staring up at the stars.

“Why did you ask me to come with you?” Yelena asked suddenly, turning her head to look over at her sister. “Because I need you. You’re my sister.” Natasha explained simply. “No but…why did…what do you expect from me?” She asked, she sounded hesitant. Natasha sat up on her lounger. “Come here, little sister” she beckoned, scooting over. Yelena squeezing into the empty space next to her in the lounger. “The only thing I want from you, is for you to be happy. Genuinely happy.” She explained, a hand going to twirl the hair at the nape of the little blonde’s neck. “I do not deserve the same peace as others” Yelena decided. “Well I think you do. Besides, love isn’t something you have to deserve.” Natasha reasoned, pulling her a bit closer. They fall into silence as both windows navigate their thoughts. “This isn’t about meeting anyone’s expectations. This is about moving on.” Natasha said, followed by pressing a kiss into Yelena’s forehead.

Another silence fell over the sisters, but it felt more peaceful. More calm.

Yelena is the first to break the silence, but her words don’t seem directed just at Natasha, more so to the universe, maybe even to herself. “Moving on…Has a nice ring to it…” it was admittance, not surrender. It was a realization that they had a future. That they could be more than they were.
