Chapter 2
There were times in Kara's life when she felt like she had no control, and most of the time she would kind of blame it on the fact that she was a bit young and her team only wanted what was best for her, other times she would just watch as things slipped through her fingers. Sometimes things just don't want to be controlled though. Some people don't want to be controlled. One of those people? The woman that is currently staring back at her through the dressing room mirror, mouth slightly parted.
It was like all the memories that she had tried so hard to let go came flooding back. She knew this woman was surprised to see her, mostly because when she had met this woman 4 years ago Kara had told her that her name was Kara ZorEl, which wasn't a lie. At one point in her life that had been her name you know.. before she got adopted. She had just met a woman who wasn't aware of who she was, or what she did for a living, so Kara felt like it was a good time to be a normal person. Kara was on tour for her first album when the pair met. They were in Ireland, and Kara was just enjoying the view that Cork had when she quite literally got ran into by a dark haired woman.
They laughed and apologized to each other about the run in and Kara just found herself completely drawn to this woman, who said her name was Lena Walsh. Her eyes looked as if they could see through anyone's soul, Kara had never seen a pair so green. Lena carried herself with such elegance that Kara a little intimidated, beautiful women also intimidated her though so her mind was an absolute mess anytime she was around Lena. She had learned that Lena was in Ireland on a business trip, she worked for a tech company in the states and they were wanting to expand overseas. Lena Walsh was a bit older than Kara, and Kara had lied and said she was 24 when she was in fact only 18. She didn't want to seem immature to the older woman.
The 3 days Kara spent in Ireland basically revolved around the green eyed woman, any free time she had the blonde would call the number that Lena gave her to see if she was also free. Those three days were filled with unfiltered laughs, soft smiles, and quiet whispers. The last night they spent together Kara told Lena she wanted to see her again, after her tour, back in the states. She will never forget the fragile look on Lena's face when she whispered, "I can't bring you into my world outside of Ireland, you're too kind for it."
They stayed together that night in Kara's hotel room, Lena also kissed her that night. It was Kara's first kiss, but she swore that no one would ever be a better kisser than Lena. The next morning Kara sat in the bed and watched as the older woman got dressed to leave, a small sad smile playing on her lips when she walked to the blonde. She grabbed her lightly by the chin and pulled her in for one last kiss and when she walked out that door it was the last time Kara had seen the woman. Until now, of course, so there was a bit of a surprised look on both girls faces.
"This is Ruby, Sam's daughter. Apparently she got to skip school to see you today," Kelly said opening up the door wider to let a younger girl and Lena into the room. No one had seem to notice the looks on the women's faces before they quickly covered it up.
The young girl, Ruby, looked at Kara like she was about to cry and it made her heart melt on the spot. "Well, I must be pretty important for you to be able to skip school, huh?" Kara spoke up, opening up her arms for the girl, who in return practically through herself into her. "It's a pleasure to meet you Ruby
"Trust me she made me beg for it, I almost thought she wasn't going to let me." Ruby responded as she pulled herself out of the hug. "But Aunt Lena helped talk her into it." She wore a large smile looking back towards her aunt. Kara took this as an opportunity to look at the woman again.
She was just a beautiful as the last time that she saw her, her dark hair was pulled back into a tight bun, she wore a white button up that neatly tucked into her penicil skirt and a pair of heels that made her seem taller than she was. Lena had aged a bit, her smile lines were slightly visible as were the crows feet by her eyes, but golly was she the most stunning woman Kara had laid eyes on. Kara was too busy checking the older woman out that she didn't even notice her walking towards her.
"Lena Luthor," Lena said with her hand out for the blonde to shake.
Kara gulped at the mention of the powerful last name, then reached out her hand. "Kara, Kara Danvers." Lena's grip on Kara's hand tightened.
"Really because I am almost certain it was ZorEl," Lena snapped quietly, so the group wouldn't hear her.
All Kara could do was wear a guilty look and pull her hand away. It wasn't really just her fault though, Lena had told her that her name was Lena Walsh so if anything they should be even. They are in Kara's mind. The blue eyed girl turned her attention to Ruby and made small talk with the girl while her glam team finished up her make up. Almost as quickly as it she was pulled into the room, she was pulled out.
The interview with Sam went well, they talked about her up coming album and what songs she was most excited for her fan to hear. The whole time Ruby, Kelly, Alex and Lena were in the front row watching while Kara tried to calm her nerves by interlacing her fingers together. Trying to ignore the constant urge to look over at Lena alone, Kara focused her attention to Sam and the interview was over shortly after.
She was just finishing up getting her things from the dressing room when there was a light knock on the wall, she looked up to see Ruby and Lena standing there. Kara gave them a nod as a silent 'come in'.
"I forgot to ask you to sign this earlier, and I told my friends that I would get a picture with you." Ruby was holding out a poster Kara that was an exclusive add on to her first album, only the pre-ordered albums got the poster she also had a sharpie in hand. "If that's okay with you."
"Oh yeah, of course!" Kara quickly grabbed the poster and sharpie, then handed it back to the teen.
"Aunt Lena can you take our picture for us?" Lena was handed a phone before she could even answer. Kara stood next to Ruby putting an arm around her.
Lena held the phone up, "Say cheese."
After a few photos Lena gave the phone back to Ruby and they started to leave. "Lena?" Kara called out as the pair made it out the door. Lena turned around to look at her, her eyebrow raised in question. "Do you want to get a coffee with me?"
With an almost blank look on her pale face, as she waved for Ruby to run along. "No, I don't. I don't enjoyed being lied to."
"Oh come on that was 4 years ago," Kara explained. "And you lied about your name too!"
"I didn't lie about my age though did I? God Kara, you just turned 22 last month? You should never lie about things like that."
"I know that, and I have grown up a lot since then. Let me make it up to you, coffee?"
Lena sighed, "This isn't Ireland, you don't fit in with my life in the states." Lena told her, then turned and walked out the dressing room door.
