Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Bruce's POV
Tony and Thor had just left for the supermarket and - to be honest - Bruce was quite content with being on his own for a while. Tony was a nice guy but sometimes - he could be really annoying. However, that he insisted in taking Thor with him wasn't that helpful after all. Thor and Loki probably had their reasons why they wanted to do anything to stay near each other and if something happened to Loki while Thor was away … But whom should he be blaming? Thor was simply to kind-hearted to refuse an invitation and Tony … was simply Tony after all.
After finishing his work, the doctor decided to check in on Loki quickly, before starting to prepare the lunch. When he knocked at Thor's door and didn't get an answer, he simply entered. The god of mischief was positioned on the large bed, a book in his hands and a moonstruck smile on his face. Bruce approached him quietly, not sure whether he should say something or better leave unnoticed. But he wasn't able to make his decision when Loki suddenly looked up at him with a disapproving glance.
Loki: "Is it a custom here on Midgard to even enter a room when you're clearly not asked to do so?"
Bruce: "Hey Loki. Just wanted to make sure everything's alright with you."
Loki: "Sure. All is fine, you don't have to worry about me or my child."
Bruce: "Are you sure? You're looking a bit - paler than your usual colour?"
Bruce looked his patient down sceptically. But Loki was only getting more and more furious.
Loki: "Yes! Everything is perfectly fine. So would you finally stop - stop - aahh-"
Loki broke off in the middle of his sentence, gritting his teeth and clutching at his stomach. Bruce was beside him in an instant, trying to make out the source of Loki's discomfort.
Bruce: "Loki? Loki, tell me what's wrong? Are you in pain?"
Loki only groaned loudly, continuing to grab at his stomach.
Loki: "Get - g-get Thor! Now! The baby I - I think it's - it's changing-"

When Tony had forced Thor to come with him, he hadn't considered how long it'd take with him. It wasn't really Thor's fault, but the supermarket full of food and other supplies he'd never seen before was just too much at once. He stopped at every shelf, examining the exhibited things, trying to figure out what they were meant for with that adorably cute, curious look. Tony stayed beside him patiently for a long time, explaining nearly every grocery and its taste but after this had been going on for half an hour, he decided to change his way of proceeding.
Tony: " - You know what, Blondie - just go on looking around. I'll get the stuff we need, okay? Then we're faster."
Thor nodded, only half-listening while doing exactly what Tony had asked him to. The scientist grinned, throwing him one last glance before leaving him in between the shelves and proceeding to the more important section of the market.
---
5 minutes later, Tony was finished and looking for his companion. It took him a while to find him, until he saw him standing close to the exit, his phone in his hand. The brunette approached the man, waiting for Thor to finish the call.
Tony: "Hey Thor - finished?"
Thor put the phone away and turned to face him. With worry, Tony noticed the tension in his features. They'd been allies in battle for quite a while and Tony knew that, normally, Thor was pretty good at keeping a poker face.
Tony: "What's it, sunshine? Bad news from home?"
Thor took a moment to recollect himself, attempting to hide his worries.
Thor: " - It was Banner. Loki collapsed. He thinks - he thinks the child is changing shape."
