Chapter 22
Chapter 22
On the next day, the boys were eating lunch together with Frigga and Odin. Thor looked at Loki casually, shortly stopping as his small, cute smile, directed only at him. He was sure it wasn't noticeable for anyone but him, but gave him the warmest look he could offer without raising suspicion. During the meal, loki fell back into his usual behavior, not talking a lot but eagerly following the conversation. Thor kept taletelling adventures he'd already had long ago, alongside the other avengers. Loki was listening carefully. He loved it when Thor was telling stories, not having to comment anything and simply listening to his soft, low voice full of love and passion. But somewhere in the middle, Thor was just passionately describing the battle against a robot, Loki noticed he was feeling nauseous. Again. He flinched, not wanting to vomit in front of everyone. He remembered Thor's words: "And if you notice you're feeling sick or in pain, you simply excuse yourself quietly, without anyone noticing but me." Loki quietly pushed back his seat, rising to his feet and slowly exiting the dining hall. On the way, he made eye contact with Thor while casually nodding towards his stomach. Thor nodded briefly while talking on. A few minutes later, Thor got up as well.
Frigga: "Where are you going?"
Thor: " - going to train together with Farndral."
Odin: "Then we will see you and Loki later at dinner?"
Thor: "Yes - probably."
Thor left quickly, leaving Frigga staring after him concerned.
Frigga: "What is wrong with them? Loki didn't look well when he left. And Thor seemed quite upset when he greeted me yesterday."
Odin: "I don't yet know myself, Frigga. But we will figure it out. One way or another."
--------
Thor found Loki in the bathroom, kneeling in front of the toilet and throwing up non-stop. Thor crouched down beside him and held back his hair, a look of worry in his eyes. Afterwards, Loki simply fell back, letting himself being hugged.
Thor: "Does it hurt?"
Loki: "A little. It's not that bad just - I'm kind of frustrated, only eating to throw everything up shortly after."
Thor: "Don't worry Loki. The sickness will pass soon I guess."
Loki: "Great! And since when are your guesses true?"
Thor: "In every pregnancy I came to notice, it didn't last long. A few weeks maybe."
Loki: "Let's hope you're right. I'm really getting tired of this."
Thor: "Just think of the Baby. In only a few months, we'll hold it in our arms. This will pay up for everything, believe me."
Loki smiled, cuddling closer to Thor's chest.
Loki: "You holding me already does."
The brothers stayed for a while, peacefully holding one another close. What they didn't know was that Odin had been standing in front of the door, listening to their conversation. When he'd heard enough, he went back into the throne room, ordering one of his guards to enter.
Odin: "I've got a quest for you!"
