Chapter 19
Tony hadn't had much time to go over the magic books that Morgan had given him after that Gala when Stephen got his cape back. The very clingy cape that never seemed to leave his person even when the man was wearing everyday clothes. Admittedly, Tony actively encouraged the lively piece of outerwear but that had more to do with keeping it out of the way than keeping his Doctor-Sorcerer safe. Or at least that was what he told himself and it was the story he was sticking to if anyone asked. It definitely couldn't have been how he remembered that Stephen was only captured by Squidward after he was separated from Levi and got tortured for it.
Tony was determined to keep him safe now that he knew what Stephen actually was to him. He was also going to be damned sure he could keep people out of his own head with magic. He would fry Wanda before letting her back inside his skull and damn the consequences.
Tony had been reading those magic theory books almost nightly even if he would never admit it. Morgan, because it was obvious that his daughter had tailored certain handwritten books to him specifically, had done a good job comparing the magic side to the science he knew. The fact that the magic he was now learning was sort of an overlay layer compared to standard reality just made sense. The fact that learning this gave him admin privileges on reality even if only temporarily and on a relatively small scale was just plain cool.
When Tony felt the alarm ripple through Stephen as he was seeing everyone out Tony panicked. He bolted for his wizard, thinking the worst, that they were under attack or the idiot had been hiding an injury or worse. When he found the man and nearly bowled him over in his panic Tony couldn't help the slight relief at the lack of obvious harm. Hearing Stephen's attempted apology, however, caused Tony to snap. The only good thing that came out of his blow up at the Doctor was that Tony was able to drag him to bed and cuddle him into submission.
