A True Team
Truth to be told. Tony hadn’t planned on dating anyone anytime soon. He and Pepper had ended things amicable and were still friends, and they both gave each other the go ahead if someone new came along. It’s just that with Thanos coming, the mess of the Rouges being back, and Tony still in therapy healing from his issues. He just didn’t think he had the time to find someone.
Yet here he is, in a date with a woman that is not from this planet even.
Gamora is a beauty, that can’t be denied. But it was when he got to know her when he fell for her. She understood him in a way only her sister did as well. A haunting past that they are trying to move on from. It was great to finally be understood.
Her ability to deal with the Rouges was an added bonus.
To think Tony would end up in a date with the “daughter” of the Titan that has haunted him. Oh well that’s just the normal life of Tony Stark.
“So the Asgardians gave the Reality Stone to the Collector ! Only idiots would give a man like that a Stone.”
“To be fair to Thor. He had just lost his mother and at the time he thought, his brother as well. I don’t think that he was in the right mind set. Can’t say what good old Loki was thinking but....well dude’s pretty clever. He probably had a plan.”
“It was at least smart of him not to have two stones in Asgard.”
“Yeah wish someone told us that, but thanks to Strange and his order,...here we are.”
“I’m more worried about your friend Vision. He’s Stone is connected to his life after all.”
“Yeah. Bruce, Shuri, And I are working on a safe way to take it from his head. Rocket is also lending a hand.”
“He likes you. It’s rare for him to admit that freely but Rocket likes you. Even rarer for Nebula.”
“I stlll find it strange for people to openly say that.”
“Well this planet is full of idiots after all. But of course, there are good people in it.”
“I guess it’s the same on all the planets.”
“Oh no. It’s defiantly more in here. Trust me, I’ve seen a lot of planets, and not many are like this. No offense but what purpose does a planet have waging war between its people.”
“Fair point. Fair point indeed.”
That reminded Tony of his last visit to Wakanda. He still felt Wakanda could have opened sooner, but he could see what their true fear was. What the countries could do with vibramium. He experienced first hand what itchy fingers almost did with a nuke so....
“If you humans want to expand out there, you need to stop fighting. Thanos might be the biggest threat, but there are others out there. Kree extremists, The Sovereign, The Grandmaster and the Collector. People would would love to come and wreck things here.”
Again, her point was proven. Tony was really starting to think humanity would be doomed by their stupidity.
“But......for every dangerous place. There is a beautiful one.” She adds. “One makes the fighting worth it,”
“Quill And Mantis mentioned you are....the last of your kind ?”
“Yes...Thanos came to my home planet, and killed half of the population there. He took me Because for some reason, he took pity on me, or saw something on me. The half he spared fell to chaos and well....soon I was the last one left. Same thing happened to Nebula.”
“Oh....so he spares kids randomly ?”
“It happens rarely. Aside from us he did it with the Black Order. His priced Assassin. Corvus Glave, Próxima Midnight, Curl Osdian And Elbony Maw.” She said their four names with a lot of disgust. “They due his every biding, and love to be cruel, to show their power. Then there is also Supergiant, his second in command. Unlike the others though, Nebula and I do hold some respect for her. She doesn’t show of or anything, it’s quick and painless with her. However, she’s easily the most dangerous after Thanos.”
“Oh boy. So we have four horseman who do his every bidding, and love to show up and torture people, and then the second in command who’s a scary Assassin who won’t be seen. Not an easy job."
"Agreed, and it won't be easier with that band of idiots following you around. You know....Nebula and I could....make them disappear...."
"You told her no ! Come on Tones !"
"Imagine the paperwork if I allow them to get rid of Rogers and co. Pepper would kill me, then she would revive me, so she could kill me again ! Oh and then she would hunt you down for not stopping me."
"True. Sad but true......so how was the date ?"
"Oh it was wonderful."
"Good good....I heard something from Quill...."
"What is it ?"
"I heard she's a sex god. That she is also the strongest on the galaxy in that way as well."
"Honey bear, are you suggesting that my title is being taken from me !"
"No I have faith in the sexiest man in the planet. But......you better not fail me, or I'll loose another 20 bucks !"
"Who did you even bet with.....no. I am not asking this now."
Team meetings were usually normal fairs, with moments of frustration thanks to the Rouges.
Rogers had not taken well to the fact that he was no longer the team leader, and he constantly complained about it. Always tried to make it as he was in charge. It stopped after the panel told him to do so, or face consequences, but well.....he still glares.
From what he understood, he tried to take command of the training as well, until Carol got fed up and had him and his teammates (baring Scott of course) out of the room.
Tony did not train with the Rouges. Not only was there a conflict of interest, and the fact he did not feel safe with them, but also because if the fight went as planned, he would not fight alongside the Rouges.
The plan is for a small group to get away from the main fight, and get inside Thanos' ship and kill him there, with no back up. This team included Thor, Stephen, Carol, The Guardians, and Tony himself. The rest of the forces would be fighting on the ground, under Rhodey's and T'Challa's command.
The meeting room was a big conference room as they now had to many people there. With other teams like the Defenders and the X Men joining them for this meetings.
As he has done before, Tony sat with the Guardians, with Gamora on one side, and Peter at the other. The Spiderling also joined them as well, having become great friends with Rocket, Groot, and Mantis.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Rogers looking at him. He and his team always sat besides the rest, as if had been clear no one here liked them.
Tony however paid no attention, and instead his eyes landed on the table were Thor and his new team sat. His eyes specially went to Bruce, who had Valkyrie leaning over him.
He knew those two were gonna become something, and thanks to that, he got 20 sweet bucks from Rhodey. That and Tony is genuinely happy for his friend to find someone.
He then gave a curious glimpse to Romanoff, who was not very subtle in her look at their direction. Valkyrie was a petty bitch, and once she heard what the spy had done, she always made sure to be extra affectionate when she was around Bruce. A scene that always made Yelena crack up.
That is the other sour spot for Romanoff. The fact that not only her sister is here, but she is more trusted and people welcome her in. Gamora had even began helping her train, and unlike Natasha, Yelena did take those teachings seriously.
The spy accused him of his ego, but everyone knows it is her the one that is an egotist, and it has been more than sweet to see her fall.
Soon however, his focus was on the meeting. Carol had began speaking and they all had to pay attention.
Tony spoke about the interplanetary defenses that he is building along side Bruce, Shuri, Rocket, and the Pym Couple (nothing like a good smack from his wife to get Hank to drop his hatred) for the upcoming attack.
Their plan is to direct Thanos' forces to an empty field in Wakanda, far away from where anyone can be hurt. They are gonna use the Time Stone to attract Thanos to that place, as no one was willing to risk Vision to do so.
Said android is about to set out to Wakanda, so Shuri can start working on how to remove the stone from his head.
In Wakanda, Vision would at last get a break from Maximoff, who had taken to stalk him, as he had made it clear he wanted nothing to do with her.
The meeting lasted for around three hours, with a break to eat the donuts FRIDAY had ordered.
After the meeting was over, Tony stood up and left.
"Tony wait !" Rogers yelled. "I was hoping we could talk and..."
"Nope" He said as he left.
The Guardians all stood around Tony, stoping any of the rouges from trying to get to his person.
Too good, that thinking has never been their forte.
"Come on Tony." Steve tried to grab him, only for Rocket to jump and bite Steve's finger.
"ACH !"
"Yeah, ACH, is correct Craptain America." Rocket sneered. "And the next time you try to do something, I'll bite you with this !" He got out one of his insane large guns and pointed it at Steve.
At least, Rogers was smart enough to back down to back off from the giant gun.
"We need to talk this out Tony !"
"We need to talk about nothing Rogers." He said as he went away, leaving Team Cap standing there.
Gamora was sitting on the labs, as Tony finished working on Nebula's new arm.
Finally the last piece of Thanos was being removed of Nebula. In a way, she is free now. All that is left is to kill the Titan himself.
She was here for four reasons. First to be with her sister during this, second (though equally as important as the first) this is also were her now boyfriend is. third..
She is serving guard, in case the Rouges get any ideas.
Romanoff already tried to hack FRIDAY, twice. Barton tried to sneak in the vents, and Rogers tried to break the door. Lucky for everyone this doors were Hulk proof. Rogers has no chance.
Maximoff can’t attempt anything, with both Strange and Loki monitoring her. So she is not a concern.
As for the fourth, well, she needs to talk to Tony about certain offer she and the other Guardians have.
“Sorry to interrupt Boss. But we have an unwelcome person trying to get in.” FRIDAY said annoyed.
Gamora sighted and stood up and went to the door. Where of course, Steve Rogers was.
“Can I help you Mr. Rogers.”
Steve stumbles a bit at seeing her, but he soon spoke. “I need to talk to Tony.”
“Well he is busy, and, he had made it clear he doesn’t wish to speak with you.”
“Look this has gone long enough. Tony has had more than enough time to get over himself. Now he needs to face us and fix things. The team is already facing a lot of injustice, and I won’t allow it to continue.”
Steve then tried to get past her.
Key word tried. As he tried to push her, Gamora simply pushed her back.
“Didn’t Romanoff told you. I’m stronger than you terrans.” She smiled as Rogers pales at the reminder of how easily did Natasha fell to her. “Now if Tony doesn’t want you here, you won’t be getting here.”
“You aliens are turning Tony against us !” Steve acuses. “Ever since you came he had been avoiding us more !”
“No. He was already doing it. We have just been showing him how a true team takes care of each other. And if considering that he spends more time with us than you....well that should show you what the truth is.”
With that she slammed the door on his face.
“Everything ok ?” Tony asked.
“Yeah.”
“There was no blood or bone breaking.” Nebula said, “I’m disappointed sister.”
At that, everyone in the room chuckled.
After a while they left the lab. Nebula went straight to the training grounds to try out her new arm.
“So what did Rogers want ?” Tony asked after they were left alone.
“The same as always. He accused us of brainwashing you. I tried to get him to see some sense but....I don’t expect it to work.”
“You know I heard a rumor about you...that your are a sex god in the galaxy,”
She smiled at that. “I heard the same about you....but I’m willing to bet I’m better.”
“Is that a completion ? Because is one I’ll gladly take.”
“Well perhaps I’ll join you on your quarters this night.”
She then grabbed her hands.
“Tony, you know we have to leave soon, to get other planets to join Earth’s cause.”
“Yeah I know. We can do this long distance or...”
“We want you to come with us.”
“I’m sorry what ?”
“Many have heard the tale of Iron Man. The one man that was able to stop Thanos. And no one has prepared more for this than you, except maybe for Loki. It would be helpful to have you there. And also...well you are practically one of us. Bruce and Vision are getting breaks from the Rouges. Why not you ?”
Tony seemed to think for it for a while.
“Well.....Pepper keeps saying she wants me to take a vacation, so I bet this would count. And a rouge free environment. That sounds awesome. So sure, I’ll go.”
She smiled at that.
“Good. We can set you up tomorrow. Now how about dinner, and then you can show me if you are better than me on the bed.”
“If this includes a shower, I’m all in !”
That next morning, Tony called Rhodey.
“I’m sorry Honey Bear. I finally found someone superior at sex than me.”
“NOOOOOOO !” Rhodey yelled, he now owns Thor and Peter 20 bucks.
Then Tony told him about him leaving with the Guardians.
Now Rhodey also owns Bruce 20 bucks, as he had bet that Gamora would just stay in Earth.
Poor Rhodey and his 20 bucks...
