"Hey, Y/N!" Tony's head popped up from behind the new suit he was working on.
"Hmm?" She remained focused on her current task.
"I want a kid." Her project could wait.
"I'm sorry what?" Tony nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about it and,"
"No."
"You haven't even heard,"
"The answer is no, Tony." Narrowing his eyes, he threw Y/N a dissatisfied look
before returning to repairs.
"I'd take care of it." He murmured to himself.
"Tony, be serious. We're talking about a child not a dog. It's not something to just jump into." Putting down his screwdriver, he rounded the counter and took her hands in his own. Gently he lifted her chin and looking into her eyes, he took a deep breath.
"Y/N, I am being perfectly serious. I think we'd make great parents." She looked at him thoroughly unconvinced. He rolled his eyes. "One of us would make a great parent." She cleared her throat. "Okay, you'd make a fantastic mom," he paused to cup her face with both hands. "And bonus points for there being a mini you in the picture." His eyes lit excitedly.
"With my luck, there'd be a mini you in the picture." She gave him a wry smile.
"That could be fun!"
"Hazardous to my health you mean." She rolled her eyes.
"Come on, we've always rolled more on the dangerous side," he hooked his arms around her waist pulling her closer. "What do you say?" Sighing, she ran a hand through Tony's lightly graying hair, pausing when she reached his jaw. She still flushed at the way he closed his eyes and leaned into her touch.
"Oh, Tony." She moaned, pressing her forehead to his. "No." His eyes flew open, and he pulled back. "Not right now." She continued with an impish grin. His eyes lit again, and he swooped in to kiss her nose. His scruff tickled her face and she giggled.
"Someday?" he tightened his grip on her waist. Shrugging, she returned the gesture by wrapping her arms around his neck. "Come on, Y/N! It's a yes or no question." He groaned. Pulling away from him she turned back to her project.
"It's a maybe." Turning she gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "A definite maybe."
"Maybe's too far away." He grumbled. Coming up behind her, he wrapped his arms
around her waist and placed his chin on her shoulder. "I want one now." He nuzzled her ear. She could feel her attention growing fuzzy.
"I know what you're trying to do, and it's not going to work." The words were more of an attempt to convince herself than him.
"No?" He whispered.
"No." Tony pulled away with an exasperated huff.
"All you have to do is carry it for nine months, I'd do everything else." He mumbled to himself, forgetting that she had enhanced hearing.
"Only nine months huh?" she mused. His ears perked up. "How about I do you one better, Stark, and just go lay an egg in the yard. You can be responsible for hatching it, feeding it, and getting it to sleep." Tony ignored the sarcasm dripping from her voice. He sat back in his chair, looking at her with renewed interest.
"That's right! I forgot you were Skrull. The egg thing," he motioned with his screwdriver, "That's a Skrull deal right?"
"Yes. But"
"Then you could do that!"
"Tony, we've been over this before! I'm only half Skrull. I didn't come out of an egg, and I highly doubt that any child I have will come from an egg." He flopped back in his chair.
"Aww come on, Duchess!"
"No, Tony."
"Y/N..."
"Good night, Tony." She swiftly left her project and retreated from the lab.
