UA
Two weeks later at the Bakugou household.
"Oii Brat, you've got a letter." A loud voice shouted.
"You don't have to call me a brat you old hag!" Katsuki's voice is heard, followed closely by footsteps. "Where's that shitty letter?"
"On the table. And as your mother, I can call you whatever I want." His mother, Mitsuki responds.
"Both of you calm down. Katsuki, who's the letter from?" His father asks.
"I think it's from UA. I'm going to my room." Katsuki says, snatching the envelope from the table.
"You think he passed?" Mitsuki asks her husband.
"Knowing him, probably." He answers. "Hopefully, they have a teacher that can make him a bit calmer."
"Yeah." Mitsuki says, turning back to her work.
Katsuki entered his room and ripped the small envelope open causing a small device to fall out.
"HAHAHAHA!!!! I AM HERE!!!!" An all too familiar voice chimes out, as a projection becomes visible. "Hello Young Bakugou, it is I! All Might. And I am here with your results!!!"
Katsuki was a bit confused, it wasn't normal for Japan's and the World's Number 1 hero to give 18/19-year-olds their acceptance or rejection letters.
"Noe you might be wondering why I'm here. The answer is simple! You are looking at one of the three new teachers at UA!" All Might's projection explains. "Now for the results. You young man, have scored 85 villain points and 5 hero points for saving this young man right here."
The projection changes to show Katsuki blowing up a 1 pointer with his quirk, unknowingly saving another examinee who had not seen the robot.
"With a total of 90 points, you have placed Second in this year's exam. Welcome to your hero academia!" The projection then proceeds to shut off as Katsuki sat shocked before he jumped up in joy and ran down to tell his parents the results.
Another 2 weeks later, Katsuki sat in an empty UA class having arrived early, he was listening to music through earbuds, sitting with his feet on his assigned table when a few other students entered the class.
He paid them no attention; they didn't feel as if they needed any. Though he did make note of how they looked. One of them had red hair that was spiked while the other had weird elbows and black hair, there was also a girl with pink skin that was with them. They seemed to know each other and would not shut up at all.
Katsuki continued to listen to his music when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Opening his eyes, he saw a tall boy with blue hair standing over him. Removing one of his earbuds he looked at the boy. "What do you want?" Katsuki grunts.
"Please put your feet down. You're disrespecting the craftsmen that made the table." The boy exclaims.
"These tables were made by machines." Katsuki answers not bothering to put his feet down.
"Put your feet down this instant, it isn't nice of a hero student to be so disrespectful to his peers or anyone else for that matter." The boy says chopping the air.
"Alright, tell me this, why should I? I don't know who the fuck you are, for all I care, you could be some poser!" Katsuki shouts getting attention from the other students.
"Oh right, my bad! My name is Iida Tenya! I studied in Somei High School an-"
Katsuki cuts the boy off. "Somei huh? So, you're some rich, stuck-up brat! I'll have fun crushing you!" Katsuki exclaims, popping explosions in his hands.
Before Iida could answer the door opened once more as a small group of 4 familiar-looking students all in UA uniform walked in.
"Bakugou!! Nice to see you made it!" Kaminari exclaims, walking to the boy. Katsuki grunts in acknowledgement. "Nice to meet you Iida, I'm Kaminari Denki." He introduces himself.
"Nice to meet you too, Kaminari." Iida says, turning to greet the others.
"That's Uraraka Ochako, Tokoyami Fumikage, and Izuku." Kaminari says, introducing the rest of the group.
"Odd fellow. He's clearly related to the Ingenium family but he gave the entrance exams like everyone." Fumi points out while Izuku and Ochako nod their heads to the boy.
"I was hoping to not have to use my family's influence in getting into UA. I gave the entrance exams to prove to myself that I am worthy of being here." Iida exclaims. Iida then turns to Izuku. "I remember you from the entrance exam. I must say, you figured out the secret points system!!!!!" Iida tells Izuku.
Izuku doesn't respond, walking towards his seat.
"Izuku. Wir haben gesellschaft." Ochako's voice says, alerting the boy. Izuku walks to the girl with Denki and Fumi also walked towards the two. The other students looked on in confusion. (Translation: We have company)
"11." Ochako whispers as the group turns to the door, activating their quirks. Electricity could be seen around Denki while a small shadow appeared out of Fumi's stomach. Izuku stood in front of Ochako, ready to fight.
The group sees a yellow sleeping bag crawl to the class and stand up. It opens to reveal a man wearing black.
"Eraserhead." Izuku acknowledges the man as the group calms down.
"4 of 20 of you got ready to fight. I'd say impressive, but then again, given your performance in the entrance exams, it's not much of a surprise." Eraserhead answers. "The name's Aizawa Shouta. I'll be your class teacher for the next three years." The man presses a button on the desk. "Take one uniform that fits your size and make your way outside. Anyone that takes more than 5 minutes will be expelled. And I am not joking here."
The class quickly grabs a pair for themselves and rushes to get changed.
Almost a minute later, Izuku, Ochako, Denki and Fumikage stood at the outside grounds with Aizawa.
"Sorry about knocking you out that day." Izuku apologises.
"No issues, we asked you to show us what you could do. That probably was the best way for you to show the knowledge of pressure points." Aizawa answers. "Besides thanks to that, we've updated our syllabus a bit. Are you going to wear the mask during class?"
Izuku nods, tugging the uniform for what felt like the hundredth time since he put it on, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
"Mr. Muscles has problems fitting into the uniform." Denki jokes elbowing the boy in his ribs.
"Shut up Denki." Izuku answers, the tone clearly playful. "You wouldn't mind if I tore the sleeves off this shirt, right?" Izuku asks Aizawa.
"As long as you can perform to your maximum, I don't care what you do." Aizawa says as the students trickle in.
Izuku looks at his friends, before ripping off the sleeves from the shoulder. "That feels better." Izuku says, stretching his arms. Soon all the students had assembled in the area.
"Alright, now that everyone is here. We're going to start off with a simple series of tests." Aizawa explains. "If you're wondering why we are not attending the orientation, that's because as heroes attending pointless ceremonies is worthless if you're going to get your ass kicked because you don't know your limits. We're going to do the same series of tests that you've all done till high school, but this time, you'll be allowed to use your quirks."
"Alright/Yes/This is going to be fun!" were some of the answers that came from the crowd of 20 students.
"You think this is all fun and games?" Aizawa asks. "Let's raise the stakes then. The person to come in last, is expelled."
"But sir this is just our first day! This isn't fair." A pink-skinned girl whines.
"You think villain attacks are fair? Do you think deaths caused by natural calamities, villain attacks, quirk accidents and diseases are fair? No. Life isn't always fair. Deal with it." Aizawa scolds them. "Now, Bakugou, what was your maximum for softball throw during high school?"
"About 70 meters." Katsuki answers.
"Here." Aizawa says, as he tosses a ball to the boy. "You can use your quirk however as long as you can stay in that circle."
Katsuki walks to the circle and winds his hand back, before tossing the ball, releasing an explosion at the last second, sending the ball far away.
"720.5 meters." Aizawa reads out. "Return to your spot, Bakugou. We'll be starting the rest of you with the 50-meter dash, the grip strength test, seated toe touch, endurance run, repeated side steps, sit-ups and then the softball throw. Get ready because if I see anyone you slacking off, you'll be expelled without a second thought."
All the students did a few basic stretches as they got ready for the assessment.
"And before I forget, later during this year, we will be comparing your performance so we can track your progress and see where you need to develop. So, consider this the metaphorical starting line in the race to become a hero." Aizawa explains. "Now, Iida and Asui, 50-meter dash. The goal is that flag over there."
Iida and a girl with long green hair walk to the starting line. Iida's legs burst to life with the sounds of an engine erupting from them followed by blue flames at the ends of the exhaust. Asui squatted on all fours as she got ready.
As soon as the gun rang, Iida dashed ahead while Asui hopped away. The robots placed near the finish line announced their individual timings as they crossed it. Iida clocked in at 3.40 seconds while Asui came in at just over 4 seconds.
Bakugou clocked in for the 50 meters at 3.80 seconds using his explosions to cross the distance. Ochako and Fumikage simply ran across it, getting a time of 4 seconds while Denki used his quirk to boost his speed barely beating Iida with a 3.20-second time. Izuku however shocked the group the most, coming in just behind Iida at 3.45 seconds with ease all while leaving cracks on the ground at the starting point.
For grip strength, Denki accidentally fried the machine while trying to use his quirk to boost his strength. However, everyone was left in the dust by Shouji, a boy with multiple arms who simply used three of his arms to get a score of 600 kgs.
Izuku and his friends excelled at the seated toe touch and sit-ups, beating the rest by a large margin. The repeated side steps however were won by Mineta, a short purple-haired boy that kept staring at the girls perversely, occasionally getting glares from some of the boys and the girls.
The second last test was the endurance run, which once again the small group of 4 aced with ease, taking the first four spots while a girl with long black hair, Yaoyorozu Momo, came in fifth.
With the softball throw, Yaoyorozu made a literal canon to launch the ball while Ochako and most others used their muscle strength to throw the ball. Todoroki, a boy with red and white hair used a pillar of ice to send the ball flying into the air, getting a score of 700 meters.
Fumikage used his quirk to increase the distance between him and the ball before throwing it, getting a much higher score compared to the others. Denki used his quirk to send the ball flying, getting a score of 650 meters. While Izuku's throw broke the ground under his once again, his score was just over Todoroki's.
"Alright, gather up everyone," Aizawa tells them. "I'm not going to waste time telling all of you where you went wrong, you'll get those as reports tomorrow. For now, these are the rankings.
1. Izuku
2. Uraraka Ochako
3. Yaoyorozu Momo
4. Kaminari Denki
5. Tokoyami Fumikage
Bakugou Katsuki
.
.
20. Mineta Minoru
Looking at the results, Mineta broke into tears, whining about how he wasn't able to grope some boobs and whatnot, getting a swift kick from Ochako, knocking him out.
Aizawa pinches the bridge of his nose. "Uraraka, last warning. Assault another classmate like that again and I'll have you expelled."
"If it's this perv, I can't promise. The others won't be touched outside of training." Ochako answers, getting a slap on the back of her head from Izuku, followed by a glare.
"She won't do it again. You have my word." Izuku answers, still glaring at the girl. Ochako immediately cowered at the glare and stared at her feet.
"Right. Get back to class. You have an hour to yourself do whatever. I don't care. But do pick up a copy of the curriculum for my desk." Aizawa answers. "And Izuku, I'll leave you in charge for today, make sure they don't make too much noise."
"Why him?" Ashido, a girl with pink skin, yellow horns and black sclera asks.
"I don't need to explain why I do everything, otherwise there wouldn't be any learning if I did that," Aizawa answers as he walks away. "If you've got problems with my decisions the doors always open for you to leave."
Once all of Class A returned to their classroom, Izuku got up from his seat. "Alright, most of us here are going to spend the next three years together. So let's get done with introductions, starting with Aoyama and whoever's next in the roll call."
"Merci mon ami!" A blonde boy wearing a belt answers.
"De rien." Izuku responds surprising the boy. (Translation: You're welcome)
"Tu connais le francais?" Aoyama asks. (Translation: You know french?)
"Oui, je connais le francais. Veuillez procéder à votre introduction et la garder en japonais." Izuku answers. (Translation: Yes, I know French. Please proceed with your introduction and keep it in Japanese)
"Of course. My name is Yuga Aoyama. My quirk is navel laser. I can shoot lasers from my navel, but I need this belt here to prevent the laser from leaking and giving me stomach aches. And I love looking at myself because I sparkle." Aoyama answers.
"My turn!!" Mina exclaims as she stands up and starts to introduce herself. "The names Mina Ashido. My quirk allows me to secret acid from my body and is the reason my skin is pink, and my eyes are black. I can control the density, strength, and type of acid I secrete. If I go over my limit of acid quantity or acid strength, I can burn myself. I love to dance."
Tsuyu Asui got up after Mina. "The name's Tsuyu Asui but you can call me Tsu *kero*. My quirk frog lets me go whatever a frog does including the production of venom and storing stuff in my stomach. That's all." She says before returning to her seat, the blue-haired boy got up next.
"My name is Tenya Iida," he said introducing himself, "My quirk, Engine, allows me to run at fast speeds. However, if I keep it up for too long, the engines will stall, and I would need to give them a rest. They run on Orange Juice, nothing else works for the engines. I'm here at U.A to honour the family name."
"Hey, my name's Mashirao Ojiro and my quirk lets me have a tail. I am a martial artist and love to paint. That's all I guess." The next person, the boy with the tail from the entrance exam said.
A spiky, red-haired person came up in front of the class, "Hey, the name's Eijirou Kirishima, my quirk allows me to harden my body making a near-perfect defence. It doesn't have a drawback like most quirks. Instead of that, I need to train my body to increase my endurance and extend the time I can stay in my hardened form I like to do workouts and Crimson Riot is my favourite hero."
The next person was the boy with a weird, pyramidal head who walked up to Izuku and passed a note to him. Izuku looks at him curiously before performing a sequence of movements with his hands, asking the boy if he was mute, to which Koda replied in sign that he was selectively mute because of his quirk. Izuku nods as he proceeds to read the note out. 'Hello, I'm Koji Koda. My quirk is Anivoice and it lets me control animals. Overuse can cause my voice to crack, I hate bugs. I also am selectively mute as my quirk is perpetually active.'
"Hello, the name's Rikido Sato. My quirk is called sugar rush. My quirk allows me to increase my strength 5 times for every 10 g of sugar. It lasts about 5 minutes and the more I increase my strength, the lesser my IQ gets. I love to bake and occasionally help my parents at their bakery in downtown Tokyo." A boy with large lips introduces himself.
Next up was a boy with multiple arms, Mezo Shouji. "Hey, I'm Mezo Shouji, my quirk is called Dupli-arms. I can create any part of my face or simply a fist." He turns one of his arms to an ear, another to a mouth, a third to an eye and the last 3 are normal fists. "My arms can regrow, but it hurts a lot. I wear the mask because people can get easily scared with my face."
The next person in the roll was Kyoka Jiro. "I'm Kyoka Jiro. The quirk is called earphone jack. These jacks help me listen to and project sounds. They can stretch to 10 meters and regrow if cut. But that takes time. Overuse can make my ears bleed. I love rock, metal and symphonic music."
"I'm Hanta Sero, the quirks tape. I can create tape from my elbows. It ranges from normal tape to duct tape which is the strongest tape I can make currently. The only drawback I can think of is that my skin dries off the more I use it. I love rap music and the friendly Neighbourhood Hero: Spiderman." The boy with weird elbows answers.
"I'm Shoto Todoroki. My quirk is half cold and half hot. I can make fire on the left and ice on the right. Drawbacks are hypothermia for my ice and overheating of my body for my fire. I like cold soba." A boy with dual-tone hair says in a monotone voice.
The next person was the invisible girl that Izuku noticed in the entrance exams. "Hello. I'm Toru Hagakure and my quirk is invisibility. Well not exactly that, but I can bend light and refract or reflect it which makes me invisible as a side-effect. So that's all. I love plushies and cute stuff."
The next person was Katsuki, who got up and walked up to the front of the class. "Alright shitty extras, the names Katsuki Bakugou. And I'm going to be the next number one hero. My quirk is Explosion. I sweat nitro-glycerine which I can ignite from my palms to generate explosions."
He passed the bottle over to Mineta. "My name's Minoru Mineta, and my quirk allows me to take pieces of my hair and throw them anywhere and they stick. How long they stick depends on the mood I'm in. pulling off too many can cause my head to bleed. I'm sticky, and... available."
"No one cares." Jirou says from the end of the classroom, causing some of the students to snicker.
"Hello, my name is Momo Yaoyorozu," she said, "My quirk is creation. I can create almost anything from my body if I remember the material and what it's called. Overusing my quirk can cause fatigue as the material I create uses fats, lipids and proteins from my body."
Next up was the birdman, Fumikage Tokoyami. "Hello, I'm Fumikage Tokoyami. My quirk is Dark Shadow."
Ochako sighs at Fumi's response. "Hello, I'm Ochako Uraraka. My quirk is Seismic Sense. It allows me to sense who is where at what time with just a person's location on the ground."
"So that's how you found Mr. Aizawa in the morning." Iida exclaims, chopping his hands.
"That's a hax quirk." Sero exclaims. "I pity your future kid, they've got no chance of lying about late-night outings without permissions." He jokes
Denki walked up next. "I know right, she doesn't believe it though. Anyway, my name is Denki Kaminari. My quirk allows me to manipulate electricity. Basically, I'm a walking talking electricity generator and absorber."
Finally, Izuku introduces himself. "I'm Izuku, and my quirk allows me to be a Super Soldier. That's all you need to know."
"Such a spoilsport in front of people." Ochako teases. "He's a bit people shy so to speak."
"I'm not shy, they only get to know what is necessary." Izuku answers back. "My personal feelings aside, there's a copy of the curriculum on this desk, take one before you leave."
"Leave?" Iida asks when the bell rings.
"Final bell for day one rings at 1300 hours. It was there in the letter that came after the acceptance letter." Denki explains. "For tomorrow and the rest of our time here, classes end at 1700 hours."
"Translation please?" Mina asks.
"What Denki means is that classes end at 5 pm tomorrow. Also, lunch is provided at the cafeteria for free. And there's a form in the curriculum file for an off-campus training scheduled for Friday, get those filled by tomorrow and hand it over to Mr. Aizawa." Izuku explains.
"When did you go through it?" Yaoyorozu asks.
"While you were introducing yourselves. We could have gone through it together, but everyone decided to give an elaborate introduction of yourself, just your name and quirk would have been enough." Izuku explains. "You all basically gave your weaknesses and strengths out, which in the hands of a good strategist would bring you down in less than 30 seconds."
"Oh, shut up." Katsuki exclaims. "You think you're so great, why don't we fight? We'll settle whose on top of the food chain in the class right now."
"We can do that tomorrow Bakugou, we have Battle training as our first exercise with our Heroics Teacher All Might." Izuku answers. "Now leave." Katsuki grumbles as he stares at Izuku.
"The bell rang 5 minutes ago, leave the class." Aizawa spoke up from the entrance. "And for the record, Izuku is right, one should never put all their cards on the table right at the beginning. the mystery of drawbacks and abilities allows for all kinds of surprises during training which makes you all think out of the box from the get-go."
The class sighs.
"What are you waiting for? I've got a meeting to get to and I can't get to it unless you're all off campus! Leave." Aizawa says as the class hurries out."
